So a description of my dog's behavior (because he initiates). I really don't know why women keep bringing this point up in 2023, because it's not relevant at all for any modern dating apps nowadays. Back then, in OkCupid, you could message people even without matching (in fact, there wasn't really a matching system, just profiles you could message) — you CAN'T DO that on pretty much any major dating apps nowadays. It's just such a cop-out red herring to routinely here this.

Nevertheless, the attractiveness metric we get from the study is likely still very relevant in today's world, perhaps it's even underreporting the perception of attractive men as today's world is much more looks oriented than when the original study took place.

There are 2 groups of romantically unsuccessful men whom I’ve seen when it comes to self improvement. The first are the men who claim to have self improved and see minimal to no results because of women’s high standards. They may be right or they may be self improving in the wrong way (trying to fit into the wrong niche, not being social enough or still having unattractive behaviors or features). That’s besides the point.

The second group of men don’t believe in working out, dressing well or making more money because Chad doesn’t have to do it.

I don’t understand the second group at all. Firstly those things would improve your life a lot irrespective of if you get women or not. Imagine having more money to buy all the stuff you want, live in a better place, drive a better car, spend on your hobbies and travel more. Being in better shape so that you feel more confident and perform better. Dressing better (don’t picture a three piece suit everyday but just well fitting and clean clothes) so that you’re taken more seriously and you look and feel good. These are things that a normal human being should want. Female validation is a positive by product of these. Your only argument is Chad didn’t have to do it!? How can you expect anyone to find you attractive without actually being attractive in any way?

Another house party, another (unasked for) tale of fertility woes.

While she was cleaning up the kitchen, the hostess was telling me that she and her husband were on another round of IVF, and that the drug she has to take cost $23K (!!) per dose.

A while ago I recall attending their open house and quietly wondering to myself why they got such a big ass place for just the two of them. Well it turns out they wanted to fill it with kids.

Hostess and her husband are very fit and healthy folks, she's nominally Catholic and they've been together since college. Her and I share a birthday so she'll be turning 40 next summer.

As opposed to my last friend who is fat, drunk, and wishy washy on having kids but thinks its still in the cards, this friend has been ready (physically, mentally, emotionally) for the past decade or so but biology/life/fate has made that dream rather elusive.

She did all the "right" things good girls are supposed to do; married her first (and only) boyfriend when she was 24, graduated college and got a passive pink collar job that she could easily quit and pivot to being a SAHM, supported her husband while he made massive career gains, and has generally been a submissive, feminine woman for as long as I've known her.

And yet; her and her husband have a big rambling house, no kids, and ridiculous medical bills from all their IVF treatments.

I feel genuine sadness for this friend, her entire life was lined up for this (being a mom) but an accident of biology is just not happening for them. She and her husband are the nicest people, and my husband I frequently remark that their good fortune (big ass house, cushy jobs, high esteem in our social group) is well deserved.

I managed to shit out a kid cause I was drunk for 3 days straight and forgot to take my BC, yet my friend is the epitome of eager trad waifu and struggles so hard with this.

Tis a shame.

Older women (28-40) are usually better partners and often are just as attractive as younger ones. They are usually more self-aware, introspective, calm during arguments, know how to communicate assertively instead of being passive aggressive, take more initiative in bed, have more respect for difference of opinion and generally have less double standards.

As long as they don't have trauma to the point they become undatable they are the rational choice.

I really do wish I was gay. I get how pathetic it sounds but damn it'd be so much easier

I drove with a friend to Des Moines for March Madness and within like 5 minutes of my friend introducing me to some of his friends from Penn State a gay guy asked about me

In those 5 minutes I did next to nothing--no women present at the time so no effort to be attractive, talk/sound cool, etc

I guess he knew I was vegetarian/liked basketball and saw me looking at a picture of a cute looking dog--which I explained I found without a pack and with a limp on Komodo Island years ago (you really don't want to be a dog or really anything with a limp on Komodo Island) and took with me to Bali to eventually be adopted by a very nice Australian woman who still sends me pictures of him

That's it. That and how I look I guess (lmao) was enough. No flexing money, education level or anything cringe worthy

It was such a nice/different feeling experiencing interest like that for the first time even being straight and it took next to no effort save for gym and clothes I suppose. I hesitate to even say I'm vegetarian around women because I wonder if it'll make me look too Indian
