I remember at my college, they had these little stickers in the urinals in the mens bathroom saying "You hold the power to stop rape in your hands". I don't usually get offended by these things, but assuming that only men are rapists and that women are always the victims just pissed me off.

I wonder if they realize that by pulling this shit they're fucking themselves over? After reading this, I am less likely to give anyone a ride home at all, let alone an intoxicated woman who may or may not slap a rape charge on me the next day if I help her to her door and she feels that I touched her inappropriately.

I used to be all about the idea of chivalry... I would call out "Ladies first!" at big gatherings and be the first to the door to hold it for a lady. When I came to college the courteous "Thank yous" and smiles when I did these things disappeared to leave in their places glares, or nervous chuckles.

This sort of thing promotes nothing but negativity. Guys go crazy over the lack of respect and walking on eggshells around women who in the end these days hold the gavel in our lives with the power to get us into some serious bullshit if they wanted to. Even neutral women end up more paranoid and more victimized by simple harmless things. I wonder if they realize that they're doing nothing but making everything worse?

Take it up to your campus administrators, claim that you're greatly offended by such signs, and make sure that they were approved by the college for posting.

If the college did approve them, make sure that you state that this is creating a hostile learning environment, and that you have an equal right to protection under Title IX. Push to make the campus deal with this, not yourself.
