Lol No. You’ve clearly never really listened to the experiences of the “ugly friend” and unattractive/below average women in general. Men will literally see you as an obstacle to get to your friends and either ignore you entirely, or I’ve even heard of groups of men making a deal where they take turns “taking one for the team” and going for the less attractive friend. Wonderful.

Otherwise, I do see your point. Dick is cheap and plentiful, so getting it isn’t an achievement. But women do definitely have a hierarchy and some are more “sexually successful” than others, but it’s based on relationship status rather than body count.

Socially successful women are very impressive, a woman who is widely liked by most people is more attractive to me, because presumably there is a reason so many people enjoy her presence, and so she would treat me well, at least on balance.

Same with careerist women, if a woman is able to make a lot of money or advance in a difficult career, it demonstrates her competence, which indicates a level of competence elsewhere, such as in household management, spending habits, investing, and other decision making

You haven't actually defined social or sexual success here. I hold that raw numbers are meaningless in social and dating contexts; literally anyone can rack up raw numbers of "friends" or "conquests."

What matters is quality. I'm much more impressed with the man or woman with a few friends who love them and who have their lives together than the one with 100 shiftless morons who are willing to come round to get drunk if you ask but don't much care about them one way or another. I'm much more impressed with the person who's had two partners where there was lots of mutual affection and attraction, and the experience is looked back on fondly, than the person who hooked up with a lot of gross people when they were high.

And that's not even getting into ideas like social climbing, which we pretend is extinct but isn't. Or in the fact that not all people are born with the same advantages and disadvantages of temper.

I disagree that it’s “not impressive” for a woman to be socially successful. It can still be hard to develop the social connections you want as a woman, especially for women who aren’t at least average-looking. It’s only easy for above-average looking people.

As for sexual success, it depends on what the terms are. If we mean getting committed relationships with partners you desire, then that’s probably hard unless you’re above average-looking. If we’re talking about casual stuff, I think it’s harder to be sexually successful as a man because of performance standards for men and male thirst. But some women would say that success is finding a guy who’s good at sex or willing to try. That can be hard because some guys won’t learn, but there are some women who want no less than a guy who “just knows,” which is a self-handicap that men don’t enforce as much.

This is hard to quantify.

Anecdotal but for me it has. When I was younger, thinner and broke and in college more sleazy guys would approach me. The minute I finished grad school and started making mid six figures, I have not had a single guy approach me with that kind of energy. Just as many approach, but now its mostly people who ask me out properly and are seriously trying to date. Guys really do take you more seriously when you are accomplished.

Edit: also how are women working less to achieve the same? To do what I do you need to go through grad school, take the same exams, and pass. Requirements and hoops are literally the same for everyone.

It is easier for women to have hookups, but women’s social status is still significant and often hierarchal . There is nothing wrong with being average (after all, most people are), but there is a noticeable difference between a socially average woman with some good friends and one who is extremely engaging and charismatic and who people naturally want to follow, emulate, and spend time with. These women tend to get a lot more positive attention from male and female peers, than do average women.

Basically in a nutshell, it’s not impressive if a woman can get laid frequently, as women are the “gatekeepers” of sex.

You can literally be a woman that is a 5 or 6, and go out and in one day get hundreds of decent looking men to line up to have sex with you.

A woman who has a lot of sex is considered to be sexually promiscuous.

This is because for a man to be sexually successful he needs to be pretty much a top 10 be in looks, wealth and personality or any combination. There is also a very very very small sliver of men who would fall into this category making them rare.

On the other side a woman who is sexually promiscuous isn't really rare because she is doing nothing that any woman wouldn't be able to achieve by simply taking off their shirt.

This is why men have a lot of respect for female bodybuilders - they may not get as good results as the men, but have put a lot more effort into it than them because biology is against them. Or the woman who made CEO - fighting against social discrimination and expectations and having to make some hard compromises on family - a real testament to her dedication and drive that none of her male colleges have had to do.

But you don’t care more about these women’s accomplishments because they had to work harder for them. You’ll never say top female bodybuilder is more accomplished than the top male bodybuilder and her achievement is worth more.

We all have certain disadvantages where we have to try harder than others who were born or raised with an advantage or privilege. Most people don’t care about the fact that you had to work harder to get lesser results. People care about the results.

Worth more.... to who? What does some other person's sex and social life have to do with you? And why would it matter to anyone that you are ranking them by what you think of as their achievements? People who are socially and sexually successful don't need your approval. And how "difficult" it was for a person to achieve that success isn't something you can tell from the outside. For some people it's simply easy to make friends and find partners. For some people it's extremely hard. That has a lot more to do with their general personalities and social awareness then it has to do with gender.

They can get into nightlife venues for free, get free brunch, be taken out on dates, pickedup, returned back, paid for, etc etc. But, a man has to do all those things. And, in order to have the funds for those things, he has to work hard for them. What the op says is sometimes true but there are lots of guys who don't have to work hard either. Those born rich or particularly attractive, and lots of guys with terrible content but enough stupid people following them. Same for dating competition, the best looking guy with money can pretend he's super smart and socially skilled. Chances are he's actually quite dumb and even creepy (not to women, obviously) but gets away with that thanks to his looks and money.

There's a bit everything everywhere, honestly, not all women are undeserving of their success and not all men are impressive.

More so then men I would even say. Generally speaking, I'd say women under the age of 30 make awful friends regardless of what gender you are. Now in school, most of my women were friends at some point...but they were the exception. I noticed that the average "basic" girls were awful to each other behind their backs.

I have to disagree with this to some extent.

Female Alphas exist.

If you take a career woman with a "high power" job. Surgeon. Lawyer (partner). CEO. And she might have a vast social circle, be involved in many political and social spheres, well travelled... On top of that she starts out each day with a 1 hour workout. She is successful, driven and motivated. If anyone deserves to hold out for a 1% man it's this woman - a true 1% woman. And sure, she could be getting casual sex daily, from any number of men. But, as a woman she doesn't value casual sex with multiple partners anywhere near the way men do. She has "guys she can trust" to get her sexual needs met. They may not even be social alphas themselves, perhaps just "genetic alphas" with good bodies and good sexual technique.

How is she to be any less celebrated than a 1% male social alpha? How is she any less impressive, objectively speaking?

Now, in the sexual marketplace, that's where things get a bit dicey. This woman is looking at about 1 in 10,000 men for serious dating or relationships. She is basically stuck with finding someone from her work or rather elite social circle. She might not even want to settle down with one man and get married. Most 1% people are practically married to their careers anyways.

In any case, this is not an "average looking woman with a degree". This would be a good looking, fit, intelligent woman with two medical or law degrees and a high-power career job or perhaps consultancy or business.

Like a male social alpha, her mating life is complex. She can have any number of men any time she wants, but because she is somewhat of a rock-star, there are pitfalls of trying to settle down. A lot of these people end up divorced, or just have "convenience / status" marriages where they say "Hi" when they happen to be home from travel at the same time. The marriage could be secretly open as well.

Ok first of all, woman absolutely DO compete with each other. It’s just that they’re only competing for the top men, and as such most average guys would never experience what it’s like to be the prize. In addition women’s win condition is different, and it’s more about landing a relationship with said men rather than landing dick.

Secondly, Also, the average women is not concerned about impressing the average men, because generally they can do so simply by having a vagina and existing. It’s more about inter-gender competition, as in impressing other women and thereby elevating your social status.

Finally, men can absolutely bond with each other closely. The whole men can’t be vulnerable with each other lest they be gay thing is really an American thing. I’m not sure where it comes from, could be just residual homophobia. But you see these sort of bonds in war/sports/etc all the time with men that actually accomplish or overcome real things together.

I think these two things are not necessarily correlated, and only partly true.

As a woman, I think women are more competitive with each other than men, but women friends are more emotionally expressive than guy friends. As a general rule, men don't discuss intricate details of their relationship and home life with each other, they are more closed off and more invested in their interests as a talking point.

Women do have an advantage when it comes to dating, but it isn't because they are generally regarded as wonderful, I think. In order to win a woman over for the long term, a man has to prove that he's a worthy partner. This way, women have more options when it comes to choosing partners. The comptetitiveness of men is true, but it doesn't mean that women easily obtain good social and dating lives because of it.

At least not in my experience. I'm extremely socially awkward, have a few friends but not a big social circle, and started dating at 23... It wasn't easy at all, and it still isn't easy to fit in with crowds. I would LOVE if my woman card made my social life easier, but... it just didn't, not at all.

I also find it hard to maintain friendships with women during adulthood BECAUSE we are competitive. We feel threatened if one of us gets a good job, gets into a relationship, is getting engaged/married, having a baby, because it feels like that person is more accomplished and we view each other with resentment. I don't think men give a f-ck about their friends getting married or having a child... they are competitive in other ways, but they don't drift away from each other due to progressing in life.

I wasn’t even really aware that we were competing but I lost out on the man me and the other woman were mutually interested in and I am almost certain it happened because she started gossiping to him about me.
