What this guy doesn’t understand is the sheer percentage of women who have actually been assaulted or under threat of assault. The foundation of his understanding rests on the idea that only a handful of women have experienced this trauma , which he claims to sympathize with and understand, and makes an exception for them. He doesn’t realize almost all women have experienced trauma from men.

He also wants women to “give men respect” and not make him feel bad, without considering that we DO NOT WANT to feel that way. We don’t want to feel threatened and scared to the point of acting on it. He’s acting as if we enjoy it, or it’s some minuscule choice we are making to skip away from him and giggle around the corner.

And then he goes on to the most classic card that men pull: “Nobody wants a fat ugly girl anyway!”. Three things are wrong with this. 1: skinny/fatness is transient, not everyone who is currently fat has always been fat or remains fat; they could very well be recovering from injury. 2. He’s inadvertently sending the message that if a woman weren’t fat/ugly, that they actually should be worried 3. The inherent contempt men have for fat women, as if they are subhuman objects. This part is the most disturbing to me.

It's pretty simple: A man is either a predator or he's not, a woman can decide to preemptively assume he's a predator or can assume he isn't. This leads to four possible situations:

Correct positive: he's a predator, and she takes precautions (result: safety)
Correct negative: he's not a predator, and she doesn't take precautions (result: safety)
False positive: he's not a predator, and she takes precautions anyway (result: his hurt feelings)
False negative: he's a predator, and she doesn't take precautions (result: her assault/rape/death)

Our dumbass here is whining about the false positive situation, which results in his feelings being hurt. Most women are more concerned with the possibility of a false negative situation which has a much higher cost to them than some guy's hurt feelings. If he doesn't like it, he could put work into making the world safer for women by volunteering, donating to relevant causes, being proactive in keeping track of what his fellow men are doing, etc. But he doesn't want to do any of that, it's hard and he doesn't feel like he owes it to women. He does, however, feel that women who don't know him owe it to him to compromise their safety so that he doesn't ever feel like the "bad guy".
