In my experience, most males are willing to date “chubby” women. By chubby I mean overweight, not obese. And these overweight women in question usually have a very specific body type.

Males have no problem dating a overweight woman with an hourglass figure (like the picture you linked to). An overweight woman with a rectangular or inverted triangle figure is doomed though.

Depends on how you define chubby.

The woman pictured might be "chubby" but she also has a nice shape. She's already ideal for a lot of guys. She could lose a few pounds, if she wanted, and be incredibly popular.

Luckily a lot of women carry fat in their butt and hips. They can be considered conventionally attractive across a wide range of weights. If a woman is unfortunate to have fat go first to her gut or other unattractive places she'll have to be pretty slim to be conventionally attractive.

I believe the disparity men being attracted to thicker women but women not liking heavier men is because there is simply no place where fat is attractive on a man.

Stomach, back, legs, hips, thighs, chest, neck, face. It's all bad. Any significant accumulation of fat anywhere and you will be perceived as less attractive than you would be otherwise. Maxing out your attractiveness as a man means slimming down. For women it often means this, but not always.

I think it depends. The better proportionality that weight is distributed (more ass and thigh than gut and or jowls) the more likely he is to be like “she’s thicc I’ll give it a shot”. In my personal experience I’ve had heavier set women approach. Usually I do decline though because it’s simply such a stark contrast to what I am willing to do. She’s not “thicc”, she’s quite frankly let herself go a lot of the time. The gut is apparent, the double chin maybe even and I don’t think that’s acceptable. Why? Because if I as a guy will be ran up a flag pole for looking like that, why would I get with someone who has settled to be like that. I’m just reinforcing a negative perception at that point. That being I am quite unhealthy and am willing to be with someone who doesn’t care to take care of themselves. At the very least it being overweight to the point you have a very clear visible gut and double chin is where I definitely say no. It’s also simply indicative of eating habits and life style. I don’t engorge myself or stress eat so.

I can't discuss this over the internet, and I am to lazy to search for pictures to lake my point, as people throw around words like " chubby", "overweight" , curvy and obese and speak of totally different things.

I like what "I consider chubby women" but I suspect most people throw this term around and speak of morbidly obese.

Also a women might be heavier, but still pretty fit, she is bigger but doesnt have this saggy look.

Anyway once the human shape is lost, its over for me.

Also comparison men/women is difficult, women can get away with more fat and still be attractive then men (on average)

The average American man and woman are both slightly overweight but not what most would consider “fat.” When you get into the obese numbers, neither wanting the other starts to become an issue. Average men who consider any woman over 120lbs to be too fat will struggle to date, absolutely. That being said, if you’re truly only attracted to a specific body type, settling for someone who doesn’t appeal to you is not fair to either of you.

I sometimes suspect that all the "this is how a REAL woman looks like" posts by heavier women are made not so much as a affirmation of their humanity, as they are a way to critique current beauty standards that appear as a form gatekeeping that limits their access to conventionally very attractive men cadrio-fit women have.

It's not affirmation, it's not critique, it's cope. beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. They put fat women in Sports Illustrated and in fashion ads, and they tell fat women that they are beautiful, but no matter what they tell the fatties and no matter how hard the fatties fall for it, they can't make men find them attractive. And by the way, if she's chubby now she's gonna be a lardbeast after we get married.

The fatocalypse has had an enormous distorting effect on the dating market. Entire essays have been written on this and I won't bother adding one of my own. Bottom line: some guys may like fat, and some may we willing to put up with it if they can't get anything better, but it's not attractive to most guys. the body positivity people can tell you you're beautiful for being fat, but they can't mandate that men find you desirable and most men probably don't.

EDIT: What the men who find fat women unattractive deserve or are able to attract is irrelevant. If he's unattractive himself for whatever reason, he's still allowed to pass the fat chicks by. Guys have a God given right to want something they can't get. Most men want an attractive woman because they are biologically hard wired that way. These days, few of them will ever get one.

If I had a do-over I wouldn't probably. I married my wife who was always kind of chunky (on the edge of attractive for me) and marriage and kids and age put like 40-50 lbs on her. I love her, and try to make her feel special and sexy, but I probably would have probably looked harder for someone who has seen the inside of a gym. (Fitness is important to me)

I sound like a top shelf ahole. But I know there are tons of lovely women in the world. I feel like I would be a better partner if I found my wife more attractive and I desired physical intimacy. As for me, an average guy - I'm 5ft10 (about avg), about average looks, can run a half marathon at the drop of a hat, and been lifting for over 15 years. In terms of fitness, I'm certainly above average. Also above average in terms of wealth and income. A woman would have to really impress me in terms of her wisdom, intelligence, grace, and personality for me to overlook her being out of shape.

I met men before some of whom were chubby themselves, but were not interested in dating chubby girls... moreover i know at a lot of men who have surprisingly high standards. on reddit I sometimes see posts that say the only requirements man have is for it to be a woman and her to be alive etc. like they take anything they say... but in reality, in my experience at least, its been much different so far... men I talked to and dated had insanely high standards. she should make money and pay for herself, not more than him though!, but also have free time whenever he needs you, be young and stay young, be good looking but never needs to go to a hairdresser or a nail salon or buy any make up, be skinny, one guy requested girls should wear different well fitting dresses but surprisingly he thinks women shouldn't go shopping, know and enjoy talking about her boob size, be low maintenance, be polite and social but also an introvert who doesn't go out, be friendly, be none argumentative, not have too strong opinions and much more.

I'm chubby and guys have always been into me. Maybe it's the boobs. Probably the boobs. I identify myself as fat, it doesn't bother me. But if I say it I am always told, no! Or as a VP at my company said to my face: I'm not fat, I'm nicely shaped (everyone can be inappropriate with HR). Yes, I have a body like the girl in the picture (except for the extra fat on the lower legs and the A cup -i have a B cup-) and most boys I've interact with never seen interested. They aren't outright rude, but it's obvious they don't see anything attractive on me (otherwise, they wouldn't talk about how they want to seduce other girls when i'm around, they would probably want to look like they have manners if there was some short of attraction). Also, I've been friendzoned by guys multiple times, so there's that.

Uh no. Those posts are by and large simply pointing out the average woman does have fat in various places on her body, usually around her midsection/tits/hips/ass/thighs. Our genetics predispose women to get fat in those places, and most women live a semi-active but also semi-sedentary lifestyle in the modern era(obviously talking about western women here, eastern women still have to work their asses off.) MTFs on hormones, for instance, begin to have female-bodied distributions of fat that goes to their hips, ass, thighs, tummy, and tits. FTMs on 'mones get the reverse.

70% of people are overweight or obese in the US. That includes all genders. So by refusing to date anyone overweight, you're excluding 70% of women. And, men who say this tend to think women in the higher part of the healthy weight range are overweight too. So it ends up being even higher. What's funny is that these are the same men saying women only date 8/10 or higher, when they are excluding about 80% of all women by default. With the amount of sub-7s (going off 70% percentile) saying "no fatties" on dating apps, social media, etc, I would say yes.

Personally me, I would give her a chance if she checked my other boxes. As long as she's not obese or gets there it's whatever for me. Chubby is ok. A girl with a little meat on her bones won't drive me away, on its own.

Depends on how you define chubby. Women tend to be more lenient on the line between chubby and fat/obese than men IMO. Like most men would consider Lizzo obese but most women would consider her chubby or curvy.

I like chubby and curvy but I’ve gone on dates with women who struggled to keep up and got winded just walking down the street at normal walking pace.
