So from that, /r/askwomenover30 post yesterday there was a banger of a study here

Among men, those younger than 30 are by far the most likely to be single: About half of men in this age group (51%) are single, compared with only 27% of those ages 30 to 49 and 50 to 64 and 21% of men 65 and older.

Women, by contrast, are by far most likely to be single later in life – roughly half of women ages 65 and older are unpartnered (49%), while those ages 30 to 49 are the least likely to be single (19%). Roughly three-in-ten women ages 18 to 29 (32%) and 50 to 64 (29%) are single.

Looks like women love dating older men. And then cry foreveralone when they hit the wall. What a banger. Imagine having all the benefits of dating, supply and demand. And still failing at hypergamy to get a HVM. Can't imagine why the article mixed up the sequence of ages. bolded emphasis mine.

These are the number one stats I post on PPD especially when men complain that women are dating only the top 20 percent. It’s from https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2020/08/20/a-profile-of-single-americans/

I don’t get your analysis of it.

Most women are not dating significantly older. From my understanding the the stats show that 50 percent of women under 29 are dating men under 29. The other 20 percent are women under 29 dating men over 30, this could easily be predominantly women in their late 20s dating men in their early 30s. The source doesn’t elaborate but we know relationships stats show that people are not dating people significantly older than them.

Women are more likely to be single later in life because the men they are in relationships with, die earlier than them.

There was a group of three people in my gym today, one guy and two girls (girls were fairly attractive, guy looked like your stereotypical computer programmer) and they spent a good half an hour just talking, no working out, just talking in this more open section of the gym. I'm just like what the fuck? Why are you just sitting/laying down chit chatting and gossiping in the gym? There's literally a coffee shop within the facility, move your conversation there so more people have space.

I don't understand the people who treat the gym as a little social forum, it's not for socialising and having your little catch ups, you go in, do your shit, then leave.

Are they entitled to do it? Sure. I personally don't get why you'd hang around the gym for another half hour when you're not doing any working out though.

One theory is that how fast the days go by is related to new experiences (and thus, new memories).

As a kid, everything you experience is new, so you have a ton of memories to look back on and think an entire week took forever because of everything new you experienced.

As an adult, if your schedule is identical everyday (wake up, work, cook, sleep, repeat), then all those days merge together into one memory and you don’t know what you did on what day, because you did the same thing everyday. Thus it felt like it zoomed by.

The way to slow down the days is to experience new things. A week on holiday touristing a country feels much longer than a week of working 9-5 in your bedroom because everyday was something different. 3 months down the line you can still remember each individual day on holiday, yet have no idea what food you cooked last Wednesday.

I did watch the doc of that guy who killed his wife and threw his young daughters in the oil vat.

I didn’t know the story beforehand so when I was watching I genuinely believed he probably didn’t kill her and them up until he confessed.

Why?

His constant communication and texts to his wife were so sincere sounding and “love bombing” esque. And considering they were married with kids the “love bombing” didn’t come off like a ploy. It seemed to be sincere cutesy love stuff.

Find out he secretly hated her and was texting her those things to throw the scent off of his affair with the new woman.

I guess I don’t assume ppl are bat shit in that way. Either that insane to consistently keep up a facade or that cruel to just be cruel to ppl you built a life with.

Yeah, exactly. But men don't just say shit either, they will genuinely contribute to and relish in the suffering of women IRL. This is was different than women's version of "we don't owe you anything" which basically means "sorry, I can't raise our spawn to suffer while I care for myself all on my own for 18+ years in the messed up society in which we all Iive." One is weaponized, the other is realistic. Men truly don't owe women anything just like women don't owe men. But both sides can be dicks too, sometimes. It just so happens that when men are dicks it's because they're mad they're not getting things from women. When women are dicks, it's because we accepted a free drink or something. Even at our worst we don't claim you owe us, just that the truth would be nice. Some men will claim women owe you, which is rightfully spat on.

You get a half concession from me. It’s weird to villainize men for leaving a family, when we know women are the ones leaving far more frequently. I know, I know, it’s because men are all cheating. I’ve argued this point before, and I’m not sure to what extent it’s worth rehashing. Agree to disagree?

That said, bailing on your family for selfish reasons isn’t good, male or female. Taking care of people who get abandoned in a financially dependent state is absolutely something we should absolutely address as a society. Encouraging education and self sufficiency is one solution, but by comparison I’ve said before that I actually support things like alimony in cases of SAHM giving up career opportunities to raise a family. Men do owe you something if you birth his kids in that scenario; you made a sacrifice for the family unit so that he didn’t have to, why should he get off Scott free?

I’m just not sure we can cut every situation from the same cloth. “Modern independent woman who don’t need no man” is but one possible solution. Maybe it’s the best solution in the current political climate, but we shouldn’t be blind to the tradeoffs or alternatives.

Put yourself out there more, I guess. In my experience, the “quiet, shy, bookworm” girls want to fuck hot, cocky jocks just about as much as the club thots. You either learn to play the game or live with the struggle.

Im speaking about initial attraction, to be clear. Most girls want a cocky asshole who softens into a guy that cares about her because her love was so powerful. That’s the ideal “romance.” But if you can’t clear that initial douchebag hurdle, that’s already game over.

There’s also a big difference between “boring” in the “does nothing interesting” sense and in the “aspects of your interests aren’t explicitly arousing” sense. Guys can have a lot of stuff going on, but male oriented hobbies are often boring to girls and therefore not conducive to dating.

"perfectly fine" may be a stretch, but yeah, that is the gist of the hypothesis. Not saying I am 100% sure of this, but it is something worth thinking about.

I was what you might call a 'mentalcel' in high school and some of college. I had intense ADHD, but of the kind that turned inward, with high anxiety and excessive self-awareness. Not the insane, devil may care, you are all wrong and I am right kind of ADHD, which is maybe more destructive in the end, but works better on girls.

I was decently good looking at times. Smart. Had a good family and upbringing. Knew people. So it was really confusing. But guys have no idea how many points that kind or weird, weak, spergy behavior loses you with girls. Fair or not, it can DQ even the best looking guys very quickly. And women can sense that kind of high anxiety, self-conscious, desperation like a shark senses blood. Except its the opposite: they are as repelled by it as a shark is drawn to blood.

At the time it was because I was fat and now it is because even after losing weight I am not good looking bordering on ugly.

women on what level? what do you typically go for? what is your type?

It varies I aim for women I have at least a moderate attraction to, have something in common with, don't mind talking to and spending time with, and how our personalities mesh together. Once those things are met I start seeing how compatible we are and how much long term compatibility we have such as do I mind living with her.

The main problem is most women don't meet those categories and the women willing to date me are incredibly low value with a major issue if not multiple. Example issues like being a single mother, crazy, racist, addicted to something either drugs or their phone, morbidly obese, terrible demanding personality, and tons of other things.

The last two women I hit on/was attracted to were both pretty heavily overweight but I loved their personalities. One friend zoned me to date abusive guys even though she said things like every day she spent with me made her the happiest in her life and she had so much fun. I can't tell if she intentionally manipulated me or not but it felt like she played with my emotions and expected me to still be in love with her and waiting for her after she got done dating abusive losers. The really confusing part was she was some months willing to have sex with me if she was between boyfriends or mad at them, but because I didn't meet her insane physical requirements of 6'3+ and an athletic lean body, she wasn't willing to date me. The other I dated for around a month and she made statements like she loved how I was not like the other guys she dated and actually treated her nicely and then broke up with me to go back to dating abusive hot guys. Now she has a kid or two and is posting on facebook saying how hard it is being a single mother and asking for help or where are all the nice guys?

The women I dated before that treated me so terribly that people when I tell them stories ask why I am not more bitter. The one exception was a long-term relationship I had with a hot woman that I gladly would have married because I loved her so much, but she turned out to be crazy. That woman treated me amazingly and I treated her the same in kind and I really loved her, but her mind was just broken.

Not really my options are women who treat me terribly or have issues or being alone I went with the alone option but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

A good example of this is women with baby rabies or who only want me for my money and it makes me so mad. Why should I be their beta bucks bailout after they ignored me and now bring a lot less to the table than back then? I bring more and they bring less that isn't a fair trade. Most of these women don't even bring other things to the table and are not even that pleasant to interact with when I am on dates with them. Here is some of it I am attracted to them, introverted and enjoy spending time at home with me or doing our separate things such as I am on my computer and she is doing crafts or something, I like talking to them and spending time with them, she treats me very well because I am sick of being mistreated, I can tolerate living with her and she is not the neurotic FDS types who are a nightmare to live with, we have things in common or that we can enjoy together or similar taste preferences obviously their will be things she likes I dislike and the reverse but you know what I mean, she loves me for who I am like my personality and not factors like my money, she is loyal and will stick with me, not a low sex drive she doesn't have to be a nymphomaniac every other day would be nice but twice a week is fine or less if one of us is sick or too stressed from work or similar, and lastly the biggest one she is able to communicate and talk.

It is fine to want babies, but to ignore a guy while you are having your fun for years and years and then expect him to bail you out at the last minute that is just silly and insulting towards the guy you ignored. 10 years ago I would have been willing to date these women because my level was lower and I had more energy to raise a kid, but now that I am older and have improved myself while they have gotten worse that is just unfair to me. I just do not have the energy to chase after a toddler or take care of night time feedings or accidents and telling my wife to take care of all of that is unfair to her and honestly misogynistic to expect that.

what does this ideal woman look like?

I don't put much thought into that because I have had such a wide variety of women I have been attracted to and because a woman who is on the border can tip herself towards me being attracted to her or towards me not being attracted to based on behavior and personality. Ideally under 220 pounds or at least willing to exercise with me and eat clean because I have to eat clean to keep my weight off the occasional takeout or unhealthy snack is fine, cute, I don't care about boob size small or huge both are great, mostly attracted to white asian or the occasional indian, a face I like, and I guess just attractive to me? It is hard to put in words because one woman will be attractive to me and another will not. When I was younger pre 30 it was around 60-65% of women that were attractive to me, but because so many women let themselves go in the midwest and don't take care of themselves now I find women in their 30s it is more around 20%. Whenever I visit the coasts it is more around 33% of women that are in that age group that are attractive enough for me.

When I do online dating if I eliminate the ones who have kids already that seems to eliminate almost half the women already.

I don't think my requirements are that intense I feel that I am already asking for some very minimum requirements and common sense things like not already having a kid. I could understand if I was asking for a model or a mensa genius or something else outlandish like women do but something like not having a kid should not be that big of an ask.

I felt like I was completely invisible to them and the women I asked out were frequently rude in turning me down or others would friend zone me sometimes openly telling me I was not good enough for them which hurt like hell especially when they would expect me to do boyfriend duties. Not drgree, but she'd probably agree with me. That isn't love. That's altruism and 'like.' There's nothing wrong with having those feelings and those behaviors. No one should be forced into the kind of live I believe in. What's the kind of love in which I believe? Sticking by someone's side when they're sick. Having your retirement belong to both of you because that one person is treated with such care as an extension of yourself and you would want to see them taken care of personally. There's only so much of your money you can give... there's only so much of your life you can spend being a sock caretaker... there's only so much equal energy you have. The love I believe in means focusing what you have on one person only- plus up to a few children, but you certainly can't afford to be a main emergency caretaker and contact for 4 different lovers across continents. Humans have limitations. Giving love means giving all you can, and something else will have to give.

I believe they are referencing Caleb’s tactic generally. And it’s safe to say Caleb was not seeking commitment or interested in gauging compatibility.

And the person I replied to is referencing “game he runs,” not Caleb per se, but whomever is “love bombing.”

Unless I’m missing something in how I grew up, but men who had a specific pattern of behavior of “running game” and with a tendency to “pump and dump” never struck me as the types of guys who were approaching dating with a sincerity to actually get to know the other person or because they had a crush on the person.

The intent actually seemed more “get sex as quickly as possible and move on even quicker to the next new ego hit.” I’m not saying it’s impossible for that man to be blown out of the water by some woman who makes him change his ways like a reverse romcom. But yeah, his “game” is to “hit it and quit it.” That’s the legit goal at that point in his life IME observing these things and even men in my life when they are in that phase.

i’ve been lovebombed into a relationship. it’s almost like you’re watching a romdrama and you can see everything about to go wrong from the outside but you’re so in the moment, you don’t want to leave.

the huge displays of affection, like what you would see on social media or movies. jumps on tables and shouts how much he loves you to the world, always buys you flowers, does huge romantic gestures, commits very quickly, and discusses a future of marriage and kids with you. constantly proclaiming how much he loves you, when he’s high you’re the top of his world. but when he’s low, his actions falter and he’s miserable. and you kinda realize this person is not okay and they’re literally surviving off the affection you’re giving them.

it’s honestly terrifying and it’s not just pump and dumps.

Good morning, yo. My dad spent most of January in a hospital and then was transferred to a nursing home for rehab. Tuesday was his birthday and he told me he had permission to go out for 4 hours for his birthday for dinner. So we picked him up and took him to dinner at his favorite Italian place. Yesterday he told me he was getting out on Monday. Yay, right? He asked us to take him to dinner again and said he had permission - 4 hours offsite. So we went to pick him up. Loaded him and his wheelchair into the car. Started to drive off. 2 nurses and a social worker chased us down in the parking lot. He had lied to us. He never had permission. He was sneaking out. He called the social worker some choice profanities as he was returned to his room. If you think raising teenagers is bad, just wait till you thwart the freedom of a former hippy in a wheelchair.

I had to get one of those wedge pillows to sleep on temporarily as I couldn't lie flat. Even with the wedge, in the middle of the night I'd wake up oxygen-deprived, unable to breathe, and sometimes I'd pee myself in the struggle to stand up and try to get some air. It was fucking miserable but eventually it passed. For awhile, like you I didn't want to go to bed at night because I knew what was coming, but when you work 12 hours a day you gotta get your rest.

I was sick for about a month, never called off although I thought I was gonna pass out a couple of times at work. Just couldn't get any air. This was in Feb. 2020, about a month before Covid officially became an issue. Can't know for sure that's what I had, only that it was a virus I'd never had before. Nothing I took for it (antibiotics, OTC cold medicine) helped at all. I must have went through a thousand cough drops, lol. My boyfriend who is asthmatic even gave me breathing treatments using the stuff he takes and while I didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying so, they didn't seem to make any difference. I never had the feeling I was going to die, though. Never went to the doctor (I have only ACA health insurance that doesn't actually pay for anything so I haven't seen a doctor in years). If you have some coverage and/or can afford to go, by all means, go, for the peace of mind if nothing else. I do think there are some kind of anti-inflammatory injections they can give you nowadays that are supposed to help. Worth checking out, if you can afford it!

I just want to point a problem with the argument “the average person is fat, so wanting so wanting someone normal weight means you want someone above average,” because I’ve seen it here a lot today. This statement would be approximately as true as saying, “being in your 20s and wanting someone your own age means you want someone above average because the average person is 38.”

Being overweight and obese is not uniformly distritbuted by age. Don’t get me wrong, the numbers are still staggeringly high. But if we look at the cohort that represents the largest portion of the dating market, 15-34, “only” ~49% of people are overweight or obese. Even fewer people are their 20s. It’s incorrect to tell someone who isn’t at least late 30s something like “wanting someone who isn’t fat means you’re Stacy chasing. The average person is overweight.”

The median individual in younger age cohorts isn’t overweight, albeit by an unfortunately narrow margin.

Drop your standards, get a few starter girlfriends you don't give a fuck about, you'll build confidence from that. Also hit the gym, if you're 6'1 skinny you're starting from a really good base. You could have a Charlotte physique in less than a year, as tall.guys don't need too much muscle.

I wouldn't recommend trying to solve this with surgery or other aesthetic shortcuts. Your problem is almost entirely lack of game, most likely. Building confidence with women is one of the only things you can do to improve that.

It is difficult and takes a while and you'll probably never get to the point of Natty Chad type charisma, but working with what you have is all any of us can do.

Edit: another useful thing is to pick up some hobbies that might boost your status. It hasn't worked wonders for me, but a couple times I've pulled girls largely because they thought it was cool that I was a pilot. If you can get into a coed sport that you enjoy and are good at that is probably the best avenue.

One thing I find funny is how women say women aren't willing to settle and will be fine ending up by themselves when they get older, when I find it's more likely men to be this way.

Men who will make it to 30 alone either weren't very desirable in their 30s or have no intention of marrying. These men have mentally prepared to wind up that way and expect it getting to that age.

Most women who get into their 30s really haven't mentally prepared for it, most have the expectation of meeting someone. Most might think oh I'm completely fine with settling, but never reconcile what that looks like since it contrasts to what they have experienced. Despite starting to struggle (all 30 yr olds struggle) deep down they still think someone will come along.

For reference I don't strongly believe in the wall, this is just my 2 cents about men and women that get into their 30s.

I honestly don’t think this is true. I’ve known lots of pretty high value guys that didn’t get married until mid 30’s and many met their wives around 30. They often marry women 5+ years younger. “ The estimated median age to marry for the first time was 30.4 for men and 28.6 for women in early 2021,” according to the census. That’s just the median, so there are plenty getting married in their early 30’s

This is not true either in my experience. Lots of my single female friends I call “one and dones“. Most had a big relationship or marriage fail in their early or mid 20’s and they never even consider another relationship. Many don’t even date or try to date at all.

Speaking as a former fat man who lost weight most guys were neutral about me or didn't care because they had a more utility oriented perspective of caring more about what I could do than my appearance. Women on the other hand the difference from before when I lost weight to now it was night and day the bad attitude or rude comments disappeared, and they would smile when interacting with me because I have charisma. I no longer feel anywhere near as invisible as I once did either. I have talked to some women friends who lost 80-130 pounds and they all experienced the same thing men still treated them good before and hit on them they just get hit on more often now, but women always treated them better now that they lost weight even though they were women themselves which made no sense to them. So because of this experience I feel that when women ask us to respect fat people they are full of it because it mostly just seems to be them asking about fat women and they don't care at all about fat men and won't admit it.
