The female cast was fucking terrible. Why the hell put Kristen Stewart in it? Even the people who loved Twilight don’t care about her these days. You couldn’t get a current popular actress?
The marketing for this movie must have really sucked. I’m on Twitter pretty often and didn’t see one mention of it. I don’t watch a lot of tv but I haven’t seen a single commercial for it. I had no idea it was out until I heard it bombed.
Aside from super hero movies, people generally don’t like the constant reboots we keep getting. Probably why the new terminator also bombed.
Blaming men for her shitty movie failing just doesn’t make sense considering women also didn’t go see it. I’d imagine it’ll do a little better next week since every feminist is going to go just to support her nonsense but it’s also gonna cause every butt hurt guy to refuse to see any of her future movies. Majority of action fans are male and males like watching males in action roles because they like to try and relate to it. No different to woman liking romcoms. Yes there are exceptions, Underworld, Wonder woman, kill bill, aliens, etc but for every decent action female lead movie, there are 50 half assed trash movies.

What gets me is the female movement to push action movies, be independent and prove they don't need men to succeed, then go and do remakes or sequels of successful male action movies to ride on their success.

SPOILERS BELOW:

It was a very awkwardly paced movie. The plotline revolves around sci-fi technology that makes no sense in its application. They throw out to lines of bullshit to push it forward.
The new girl who isn't an angel yet ends up killing an innocent bystander (who is male) and they fucking ignore the fact that it happens. Like, you caused someone to die because you were playing spies and don't even care.
The lore is fairly ridiculous but the concepts they expand on work, but again it just leads to more ludicrous scenarios.
Kristen Stewart's comedy timing carries the whole movie. I don't think I've ever even seen her in a film but she is the only good part of this movie.

Also original Charlie's Angels from 2000 earned $40,128,550 opening weekend or 5x what the new one did, and it was a women led action film in a much less "woke" time than now when there was arguably more sexism. This film flopped because it had no stars in it playing the main leads (except Kristen Stewart but she has shunned the spotlight causing her A list status to not be a big draw like it was before she went anti big movies). It had nothing to do with it being women. If you replace two of them with Margot Robbie and Zoe Saldana or some other A list female stars then you have a better box office. Original had 3 big names in Barrymore, Liu, and Diaz.

I know Captain Marvel is a Marvel movie, and so will do okay from the off, yet its also the 11th highest grossing superhero movie of all time.

I guess she must mean the genre of 'action movies' rather than just 'superhero' movies. Which is a reasonable point, but can't explain the issues on its own.

Lucy did well. It made over 400m on a 40m budget. It didn't get great reviews. It wasn't a franchise, and while Scarlet Johansen is popular as black widow its not like she is a guarantee. Ghost in the shell exists.

Seems like another reboot of a lack lustre franchise isn't quite enough to get people excited. The review I caught said it was a good cast and script, but the action itself was lacking. That's down to the director.

The problem with these female lead films is the same problem the most recent fantastic four film had. They rely on a gimmick that only a minority of vocal activists, who don't actually enjoy the media they protest, claim to want. In truth what is needed is good script and story not mediocre effort and them spam advertisement about Powerful Women or look token diversity. Then when these things bomb those same vocal minority uses a bad film as evidence to support their narrative, whatever that may be. Historically some of the biggest flops in movie history has been every single stand alone Hulk movie, because as a stand alone character the Hulk is about as 1 dimensional as it gets. This is the same reason why thing's like Ghostbusters 2016 and Oceans 8 flop. No mystery there an no misogyny either.

I watch women in action films. Just not those 3 women. I thought the movie with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu was pretty OK, those three are way more talented, not to mention hotter, than the 3 nobodies in the new film.

Also, that movie, which opened almost the same week in back in November 2000 had a $40,000,000 opening weekend. Vs. $8.3m for the current version. Interesting to note, the new film is comparatively "low budget" with just a $48m budget vs. a $93m budget for the 2000 version.

What people like is entertainment. People don't like going to movies to be hit with a barrage of SJW bullshit. Show me strong women kicking ass and I'm with you all day long, but if you want to just blast me with one woke trope after another, you're not getting my $12.

I guess no one ever went to see Charlie's angels before, it never became a well known IP so much so that Hollywood try to make a low effort cash grab with little to no effort on the marketing side. This movie had zero marketing until the day it came out, probably because they knew it wasn't going to do well. Despite that it had pretty good reviews, it might have gained some traction from word of mouth if someone didn't turn the conversation towards sexism.

There's gotta be a word for something similar to Streisand effect, but for when a female led movie says it does poorly because of men being sexist and just making less men want to go see it.

This is a simple example of virtue signaling to drive up sales on a product. It happened in Ghostbusters 2016 which was so bad they retconned it. If the product placement wasn't a cue to how much of a scam that was. Then again with Captain Marvel but at the very least that's a watchable if not hum-drum origin movie given Disney's copy paste formula.

But a fucking remake of a movie that was already a flop? What next, another Josie and the pussy cats? Jesus come up with something original at least. Or go join Adam Sandler in scamming movie goers with cinematic crimes against humanity.

When I was younger I thought actors went on talk shows because it looked like they were having so much fun. Now I know you only see them when they have a movie out, then they disappear.
