So the update. It was anti-climatic. We arrived at the place before him. He eventually arrived. They didn’t talk or interact at all. It was just the signing of documents and waiting for stuff to get processed (which took just over an hour).

The guy looked athletic although I think my body is better. He was my height or slightly shorter. I didn’t see his face properly but maybe a look that some women might like. She occasionally came to me to sit by me. We talked and laughed in-between waiting. He didn’t seem to react at all. She didn’t seem to react at all. The only thing they said to each other in the 1.5 hours was a few words to do with the documentation. Otherwise they looked like complete strangers. Really nothing happened. Afterwards she wanted to spend more time with me. We had lunch and she ended up missing plans she made with her friends. She wanted to spend more time but I had to get back to work.

Boy PPD do I have one for you today. So I’ve been seeing this woman for like 2 months. She was into me apparently from like 3 months prior to that but was in a relationship. According to her the relationship was long over by the time she started liking me but she doesn’t believe in cheating so waited until it was officially over and she was sure that she could move on emotionally.

The relationship lasted 6 years and the guy cheated on her constantly. She said her self esteem was quite low throughout the relationship. She is very gorgeous and I’m not the only person who tells her this. She’s even had a modelling agent express interest in her. He apparently was very good with women and played college sport. She left him and started dating me soon after. I will omit some information but I am confident that I am not a rebound and she is definitely not going back to him. The final straw was him being in an affair. Her last encounter with him was when she caught him at his place with another girl that he had been in a months long affair with.

Long story short they (she and him) have to go sign some documents in person tomorrow. She has asked me to accompany her if I’m free. He might show up with his new gf or alone (she isn’t bothered either way because she is genuinely over him). Their last face to face encounter was months ago when she caught him with the new girl but her feelings were gone by then. He however did not get the closure he wanted but she refused to even meet him for a final discussion over a cup of coffee. His mom even called her begging to give him another chance (she didn’t know the full story).

Anyways tomorrow is the first time I’m going to see this guy. I did see him in one of her stories long ago when they were still dating but I didn’t get a good look. Aside from that he has smashed a flatscreen TV that he bought for her because he thought she was flirting with another man when she wasn’t (projection). He also texted and threatened another guy she was seeing during a year long break that they took. Logically he should be over her since he was the one who cheated and has a new gf but I also know that some men can be very possessive and who knows what effect seeing me will have on his psyche. He drove past us once when we were walking at night and called out her name but kept driving. I asked her who that was and she said it was her ex. He then texted her friends asking who I was (I’m the only friend of hers he doesn’t know of). How do you guys think it will go? Any advice? Opinions?

Anyone reassess their friendships after undergrad I graduated a week ago & I’m noticing how everyone including me has like one friend they are really close too above all else even in larger friend groups lol. Like I have multiple friend groups but everyone got one friend they have more loyalty & closeness too & there is only one person I share that connection with. Other than one friend I feel like an afterthought to others. Like I’m the back up. I have a sneaking suspicion that my dad (no longer in the picture for many many years and now has a new family) may have been involved with all the various Australian crime syndicates.

I'm piecing together information where I can but I think I may have to meet him for further answers (I only ever saw him when I was a kid and I don't really remember much so it would be me meeting him for the first time).

He was a reporter when growing up but I think this might've been a con for illicit activites or perhaps he was an agent of sorts for the Australian CIA (just recently went public).

CMV: “love languages” should be about what you give and not what you receive. The discussions I see all about the latter.

Physical touch ends up being “give me sex”

Acts of service ends up meaning “do shit for me”

Words of affirmation means “shower me in praise”

Receiving gifts ends up exactly as you’d expect

And conveniently no one’s love language is ever quality time since it’s a mutual experience

I think they’re reductive and kinda bullshit in general, but if we’re gonna talk about them at all can we at least do it right? Most well adjusted people I know don’t let weird frameworks dictate their relationships, but this shit still comes up constantly when I date.
