sometimes it's good to leave a company on good terms. My wife changed jobs at the beginning of this year, not because of a bad work environment, but because she was bored of what she was doing.

Since then, she got called at least 3 times by her old manager if she wanted to come back. She likes her new job, but if she didn't, it's nice to know that she could have returned to her old job.

For people in relationships, do you intentionally sabotage your partner, preventing them from looking attractive to others? I'm having trouble understanding the concept of other people having aphantasia, or the inability to "see" images, hear sounds, or smell smells in their minds. Like I kind of believe it isn't real, though I'm trying to be empathetic.

Whenever I see it discussed on reddit, i don't see others going through all the implications. Metaphors would essentially be meaningless, as a sentence like "Juliet is the sun" or "damp drizzly November in my soul" work by evoking distinct images, feelings, and memories in the mind to convey a richer meaning.

They would never experience "tip of the tongue" phenomenon, where they have the sense and meaning of what they're trying to say in mind, just not the particular word symbol for it. Also, in a prelinguistic society among our prehistoric ancestors, they wouldn't be able to function at all, as language develops from binding mental representations with totally artificial phonemes and grammar. I'd argue grammar itself relies on a kind of mental mapping and imagery of how concepts relate and follow from one another. I just don't see how evolution would have selected for it at all during all these thousands of years.

Like, are these people truly unable to imagine what their childhood home looked like, think through the route from their house that they take every day to work, get a song stuck in their head? Are there different degrees to it? Presumably even dogs and cats can form a mental map of familiar surroundings, hence how they can navigate back home. They certainly aren't relying on some kind of detailed inner narrative of events to fill in the gap.
