I heavily doubt any lady whether 20 or 30 or 40 will get wet for him based on his looks. Basically women want the most eligible choices of men to always date within their age range. So that women know they will always have a safety net.

Also if someone is successful but a loser (rich and ugly for example). They just don’t see it as fair. Hmm this is an interesting question. The implication is, if both younger women AND older women are going to find an older man unattractive, why does it matter that he just goes with the younger woman who wants him for his money, since the older woman won't be interested in him either way?

At the end of the day, the older man is free to pursue whatever form of relationship works best for him, and if he prefers to go for a younger woman regardless of whether she's interested in him or his money, that's his choice! From the outside though, it looks depressingly transactional - I do believe that while yes, sex and beauty are important aspects of dating for men, over the long run they are looking for genuine companionship and even love.

The older man who scored the young beautiful woman sounds like the ideal, as if every man would enjoy this dynamic if it weren't for the annoying shaming that comes their way - but for many men that have lived this, it can actually be really unenjoyable. Take this for instance - men often struggle with dealing with emotionality in women. Guess what kind of woman is especially emotionally dysregulated? Dating a young woman comes with all of the emotionality of a woman, with the added challenge that she is immature, with all of the highs and lows more typically associated with younger people.

An older woman is going to be more experienced dealing with men, and more understanding of male nature (+ more understanding of an aging body!). She will have the more even keel nature that comes with having lived through more of life's stresses, and be more of a source of emotional support for a man going through stress. Good luck looking to a younger woman to be your emotional rock.

There's no denying that there is obviously a lot of fun and excitement for an older man in having a younger attractive woman around, but I think because so many men are locked out of this possibility, it continues to live as this idyllic fantasy - and the fact that it irritates older women so much probably makes it that much more enticing. However, I think if more men actually lived the experience of dating younger women and shared openly about what it was like, it would be clear to more men that it really does have its pros and cons, and while it might work for some there are many that will find more of what they're looking for in women closer to their age.

The idea is generally that men don't have their shit together until their late 20s or early 30s. It's an aggregate of qualities like maturity, confidence, wisdom, financial security and sustained physical fitness that make guys desired. It's obviously possible to do this in their 20s, but for some reason some guys can't or don't cultivate these things until later in life.

That said, a lot of people in general let themselves go with age. Weight gain is one of those things that ensnare a lot of folks, especially in the U.S. Many guys start balding. Folks start divorcing and ending up single parents. Not to mention, many of the folks who had their shit together paired off early and are off the market basically for good. At this point, someone who's relatively healthy, not completely insane, and has their financial situation under control is enough to seem like a real catch in comparison.

So with no actual data to back this up, you're just making claims? There was a study done to see what ages men and women found attractive. They tested between the ages of 18-50. Most women picked men close to their own age, give or take a couple of years. Most men picked 16-22, no older. So if an older man is struggling dating, it's probably something about him, not that women his own age don't find him attractive.

To men all older women are “ gross”, not just the obese out of shape ones. Men are more visual women more relational and this becomes more accentuated with age. I notice many men severely misunderstand why women are attracted to money. It's made worse by women not understanding what makes a man attractive either, leading to an insistence that money has nothing to do with it. I think people tend to project their respective sexualities onto their opposites, leading to a lot of this belief that either or are hypocritical in their mate selection.

The sexuality of males is primarily geared towards the visual, while the sexuality of females is primarily geared towards the material and social. Before I get some butthurt comments, understand that it's just a general rule, and that both sexes have overlap with each other. Female sexuality has a visual component, just as male sexuality has a material and social one.

People understand that money is an abstracted representation of the value of a good or service, however, they don't seem to see how that bridges into female sexual attraction. Money, being what it is, acts as a kind of proxy for the competence of the person. It can be an indicator of both an ability to provide, and their social status. The ability to provide is obvious, but the social status is also being indicated there, as we live in a society with governance and law. The psychopathic among us make up a minority of the population, and almost always end up dead or in prison. So, more often than not, if you meet someone with a decent amount of money, you can assume that they're at least competent enough socially to have not been forced out by said society.

Knowing this is important. Otherwise, you might erroneously believe that females are primarily visual, and that the only reason they're with a stereotypically ugly male is due to their money. There are gold diggers for sure, but that doesn't make up the majority of cases, because the female sexuality is primarily geared towards what money can represent. It's genuine sexual attraction.

On the other side, women do something similar to men, not understanding why they aren't seen as attractive, despite being successful in life otherwise.

Frankly, both sexes need to do some research on our evolution, and stop making assertions that don't take that into account. It would clear up a lot of this sort of misunderstanding, as both men and women wouldn't have any issue with the admission of what they're attracted to. It's genuine sexual attraction both ways, not some arbitrary hypocritical decision.

No, as a woman in my 40s, I only want a man in my age range.. when I was in my 20s, I only wanted men in my age range. It has nothing to do with money for me.. I can’t speak for others but money is actually a deterrent for me. Men with money think they can buy women and also they think it gives them some sort of power. They usually have an arrogance about them that I find appalling.

I work in healthcare as a therapist .. Iv had wealthy older men ask me to date them, marry them, be their mistress, their hired help, trophy, etc etc.. Doctors that were retired and wealthy asked me to marry them.. and the answer is absolutely not.

Looks has nothing to do with it., Men that are older are looking for younger based on superficial reasons. They like the way I make them feel about themselves.. it has nothing to do with how they actually feel about me.,

Secondly, they are looking to show boat because they are shallow. They like how it makes them feel to make other men jealous. They need to feel like they still got it.. when many of them don’t. All the money in the world doesn’t buy character., and that’s what is important to me.

Thirdly, we don’t have anything in common. We have a generation gap and we usually aren’t relatable in music, interests, thoughts, etc.

Fourthly, he usually can’t keep up. I have a healthy sex drive.. older men simply don’t.. in fact even guys in my own age range lag behind in that area. My sex drive is far greater than it was when I was younger. This is a known fact and sexual compatibility is super important.

Younger women have lower sex drives for a very good reason. They are in child bearing years. They are less interested in sex and more interested in child care. Breast feeding and pregnancies affect sex drive.

When we get older our hormone production is shifted to our adrenal glands instead of the ovaries, which is more equivalent to where men’s hormones are produced. Therefore an older woman has the same sex drive as a younger man..

Fifthly, older men with money are controlling. Because they are insecure about their age, they become more possessive and more likely to have anger issues, if the woman isn’t willing to comply with their demands. They then can become manipulative because of it..

Sixth and lastly, the divorce rate of high age gap marriages is extremely high. It’s 90% for 20 years and 80% for 10 years.

My husband had a younger wife prior to me and he won’t go younger again.. Sometimes the younger women is the problem. They often have daddy issues, which led them to the older man. Often the older man’s chooses younger women from low socioeconomic status and becomes irritated by the low socioeconomic behavior that they learned from a bad childhood.

They may not know how to act classy in situations that require proper manners and social constructs. They may say inappropriate things and act childish in situations where they need to display emotional maturity.

Younger women in higher socioeconomic classes, are not in need of older men’s wealth because they likely have their own. In those cases they would choose a same aged marriage partner.

Also to point out because you’re forgetting the maturity factor here.. older women and men that aren’t trying to relive their childhood, are looking for qualities that aren’t so fake and superficial.

They are looking for chemistry and compatibility. Looks only can be taken so far.. what was important to a 20 year old in the dating scene is not what’s important to most 40 year olds in the dating scene.

We already made those stupid mistakes and most of us have progressed emotionally and psychologically. Who’s kind, who’s humble, who’s forthright, who’s honest.. Not really who’s rich and attractive.

People's ability to find others scales (imperfectly) to their own self-perceived attractiveness levels. This is often left out of the 'change your standards' discussion. There is some plasticity here. One's predisposition to try to find someone attractive or try to find them unattractive has a huge effect, though there are limits.

Men do age better than women sexually, though the Wall has been weaponized and overdone. However, there is cultural pressure . influence for young women to not find older men attractive and to avoid them, for various reasons. Many of them are good. But see paragraph 1: if young women are trying to find you gross on a certain level, then you will have to be a very hot 45 year old to be hot to a 20 year old woman.

For many reasons, a serious relationship between a 45-year-old man and a woman 20 years his younger is not ideal for either of them these days IMO. In many ways, if that guy is just casually sleeping with her for some fun it is probably better for both of them than a serious LTR.

I'm in my mid 30's, and I'm far more often attracted to men in their 40's now than I was when I was 20. As I've matured, my taste in men has matured as well. And I think that's pretty standard for most women.

Older men are grosser to younger women. Most 20 year olds don't think some 40 year old dude is hot. Because it's a comparative statement and attraction is more than physicality.

Most 40 year old women are attracted to 40 year old dudes and not just because of similar financial situations.

Now, an ugly loser is ageless. Could an ugly loser maybe trick a younger woman in a way he couldn't an older woman, yes. But, and this is a heavy but: it would be wrong to do so and you all know it. So either you won't because it is wrong or you're immoral and shouldn't pretend I could convince you not to do bad things.

Idk why I'm on this sub but just wanted to point out a lot of older women have their own money, they're later in life and have had time to build up their own careers. In my field women are quite wealthy and the ones 35+ are mainly looking for emotional support and someone to journey with them not provide for them.

The whole "boss babe" thing was prevalent in the 00s and 90s so women growing up then are in reasonably high positions now. It's only really this generation where more and more women are wanting men to pay for everything again, and they can have a "soft life" or whatever the latest tiktok trend is.

Well here’s the thing, women statistically are most attracted to men more or less in their age group. I say “more or less” because very young women tend to be attracted to guys a few years older and not at all to guys even a bit younger, and older women prefer the looks of guys somewhat younger, though they don’t usually mind men their age or older.

For example, when I was 20, most men I found attractive were 21-25. Anyone over 30 seemed kinda old. At 30, it’s more like 27-40. My mom who’s in her 60s, will mostly mention thinking actors in their 40s are attractive, but it’s not like she’d date a guy in his 40s if she were single.

Now yes some men are outliers and are pretty much going to be attractive to women of all ages. But average guys are going to be most attractive to women in their own age group. Like the second guy you posted, women in their 20s will mostly think “ew, an old guy,” while women in their 40s may not be like “omg he’s hot” but may very well be attracted to him if they like him as a person. It could also be a “running out of time and wants to get married” thing, but certainly not always.

Men on the other hand tend to be attracted to women in their 20s regardless of their own age, but the outlier thing still applies to some extent. A beautiful 33 yr old woman will get more attention from men of all ages than a plain 23 yr old. But overall, women’s preferences change more with age.

Older women don't necessarily find dumpy old men with wrinkles overly attractive they just no longer find them repulsive like they did when they were younger.

The advice for men to be wary of chasing younger women is because there are scam artists out there looking for horny, desperate older men to take advantage of. Its not every situation but it's common enough that you need to make sure you are on your toes, especially when online dating. Many men get scammed out of lots of money by young women and many more get scammed out of money by people in other countries pretending to be young women. Older women fall for this shit sometimes too but it's not as common as with men.

If something seems too good to be true that should be a red flag.

Are we assuming women are doing this on purpose? Biology is weird. Hormonal BC changes mate preferences. As does attachment issues and trauma.You don’t have to take the advice.

One thing that has always confused me is the idea that women that wouldn’t have chosen you when they were young shouldn’t go after you when you’re older. If they aren’t the same woman and you’re in a new place how do you know that’s the case? The lack of cross sex mind reading and assumptions really cause issues.

Look I know there is an over representation of Fearful-Avoidant and Preoccupied people here but this doesn’t completely track with what I’ve seen.

Most couples I know are evenly matched. None of them are particularly loaded either. There is some lower middle class/Upper middle class issues but they can be smoothed over.Granted I don’t know anyone who wants to date that can’t find anyone. I’m also around people who looks their age or younger I’m fairly BSC so I’m not in the race myself.
