I've never seen any particular reason to believe this. The main difference between a younger and older woman is how much "free" attention and opportunity they receive. The reason it seems men are “allowed” to age is because the things women find attractive in men can still be cultivated in their old age. They can still hit the gym and get lean, build confidence, status, and stack paper. All of these things will give them access to younger and more attractive women.

Conversely, women can’t really improve an aging face without extreme (and often botched) measures. Getting in shape will be much harder, and the results more lackluster. Stacking paper/confidence/status will do basically nothing for them.

It’s just how it is. Women start with value and slowly fall off as they age. Men start with nothing but can build value until they die.

Men are biologically attracted to neoteny in women in a way that women are not attracted to it in men. As well, despite what Blackpill says, men still care more about female looks than the other way around, overall. Finally, not only do women care less about wrinkles on men, men wrinkle less. Hairline is a male issue, but the extent to which women innately care is hard to say. OFC we do now have a culture of sex and youth, so that is pushing both genders to care more about looking young.

These are baseline facts that have to be given their due in any serious discussion. I have no doubt there are cultural elements that are overly prejudiced against female ageing as compared to male. These could in theory be changed. But there is an underlying biological reality to contend with.

Some of it is societal but let’s not ignore that testosterone keeps most men’s skin looking younger while women, because of their shorter fertility windows, have a much sharper decline in hormones comparatively to men.

On top of all that men prefer younger women while women overwhelmingly prefer older men (not saying anything extreme just older than themselves) so it’s not just men you can blame societally.

My older woman friends tend to date significantly up in age for example I have a friend F44 dating a man M56. So I don’t think society hates older women just their options will change as they age. Women have an advantage in using makeup to help them appear younger tho. I think in comparison women have it easier overall throughout their lives as they are most appealing when it matters.

Older women aren't mistreated. They just get ignored. That may feel like mistreatment for someone accustomed to being given special treatment and put on a pedestal.

Young men don't get the same special treatment just because they're young that many young women do (especially the hotter ones). Unlike young women, young men are often seen as dangerous, competition by other men, etc.

Because men tend to either be treated badly or ignored when they're younger, they're less likely to notice worse treatment when they're older. At worst, they'll often just be treated the same as when they were younger- i.e. be treated badly or ignored. In other cases, men might be treated better by default as they get older, simply because the "young punk" or "potential troublemaker" (how people saw them when they were in their teens or early 20s) becomes a "nice old man" or "respected elder" who is non-threatening.

Men who acquire social status, money, and power as they get older are put on pedestals. If a man came from nothing and being treated badly when they were young to being rich and high status when they're old, then they're going to notice an enormous positive improvement in how people treat them.

With women, money, status, and power can garner respect, but they won't provide the same treatment that young attractive women get. When it comes to sexual attraction, men don't really care about women's money, social status, or power too much.

In short, men and women have different advantages and disadvantages in life, and it also varies from individual to individual. So it doesn't make sense to say "women have it better than men" or vice versa. In general, women have it better than men in some ways, but men have it better in others.

There is no value assigned to overwhelming majority of men due to our physical appearance, so we have nothing to lose in the eyes of society as it dwindles with age. For men, with exception of few genetically blessed hot guys, value starts at 0 and is slowly accumulated through actions, achievements and assets, and these things only improve with age, for a long while.

It's different with women. society gives most of you massive value capital once your bodies form, but it will decrease along with perceived quality of these bodies as you age. Women could additionally go on a 'male path' and build up their value with effort, but let's be honest here, most women who know they are physically attractive won't bother. It either never occurs to them that praise they get naturally has an expiration date or they understand it, but simply decide to enjoy blessed period of youth to it's fullest and take care of future problems later.

When woman who didn't bother building worthy solid life loses her only value through appearance with age - she suddenly starts receiving same treatment as a young average looking guy at the beginning of his journey. She becomes the loser.

There’s no real advantage in men doing the opposite seeing as the financial and experience difference in the age gap serves women and not men. Bullshit.. Certainly from my perspective in the UK, older women are very easy to talk to. As a bloke striking up random friendly conversations with women can be a minefield, so you just dont bother in case they take it the wrong way or assume you're sexually interested in them or flirting.

Not the case with older women, you can just chat and be friendly. Exactly as i would with another bloke. The point is that women who depend completely on their looks to give them value are going to be perceived as less valuable when they age. Men are judged much more harshly on status their whole lives and the most attractive have to build value in this area. This value will continue to be there most of their lives. Whoever doesn't build status and respect will not be valued or treated well when they're older, men or women.

If you want respect later in life, start earning it when you're younger. It's what attractive men do.

Yeah most men definitely don’t age like fine wine, but the difference is men are allowed to age and get less physically attractive in peace. The reason for this is because society values women for their looks and fertility more than it does for men. This doesn’t mean the vast majority of older men will be able to attract younger women, because looks and being young enough to raise a family still matter for men when it comes to romantic relationships. But when it comes to general social attitudes, men aren’t expected to be pretty or fight aging. You can see this in how people will react to a woman letting grey hair show before her 60s vs a man who does. One is “letting herself go,” and the other is just a normal middle aged dude.

All that being said, I don’t think older men seem to be any happier than older women in general. Perhaps less so.

Many older women are still liked quite a bit by older men if these women take care of themselves, even if said men prefer younger women if they could attract them (which they usually can't). So I don't really agree with this take. The women who are usually looked down upon by men are the ones who didn't take care of themselves, such as by gaining a lot of weight or by tanning too much when younger and having very wrinkled skin.
