I really don't understand why is prostitution mostly illegal in the USA.

Given this "The Land of the Free" mindset, emphasis on personal freedom, being homeland of sexual revolution and porn/sexualization industry you would think that USA would be the prime proponent of legalizing it.

Holy crap this sub could be re-named TheOmishPill as it's full to the brim with prudish views on sex/sex-work. Tbh I think most of these views come from America which has a puritanical history and hasn't seen a legalised system which (more or less) works.

My views are simple: as long as the sex worker is not coerced/pimped/trafficked etc. then people need to accept that it's two people participating in a consentual act - they don't need to be told what they can and can't do with their bodies.

(And btw sex work is legal here in the UK and there are websites which shift all the power in escorts favour, i.e. if there's any whiff of trafficking/pimping/abuse and all that horrid stuff it immediately gets flagged).
