Hubby was complaining about some job-related emails, saying that if he could meet that person in person they'd be far more polite and overall this situation they were having wouldn't happen and the issue would be solved here and there. He overall doesn't like impersonal communication.

And I'm the opposite. It's easier for me to get people to listen to me and treat me professionally via emails or phone calls. Because when they see me in real life, a lot of people, especially men or older women, treat me very...paternalistically and sometimes just rude because they think I can't stand up for myself.

People do treat you differently when you look just bigger, than they are. It isn't just professional/official environment, it's even small events in shops or on the street. Like I get more people trying to stand in front of my in the line when I'm on my own. And when dudes were trying to hit on me and didn't take my no as answer, it was enough for hubby, who'd just come up, just to stand in front of me and look at them. From the other hand, looking less threatening also has its own benefits. If I ask really nicely and explain how inconvenient it is for me, people usually try to find a better solution. People trust me more easily as well.

So...what's your experience with it?

I just discovered the reality series Love After Lockup. Apparently its been on for a couple of years now.
