Here's a catch-22:

As it is, I don't think men should use dating apps. The numbers suck, and I can even personally vouch I routinely get rejected by women below my league. Getting a date 'in my league' is pretty rare. The whole thing is a waste and a time-sink.

The catch-22 part is: if men actually take my advice and get off of OLD, it'll go back to being good like it used to be. Then men will just hear it's good and come back anyways.

I'm so sick of seeing stuff like "Of course women don't like you, you don't like yourself" as if self-worth is really all that detectable or influential. As long as you're not too depressed to get out of bed, it's irrelevant.

But what really bothers me about these statements is that they don't understand how value even works. I know nothing about plumbing, and no matter how hard and sincerely I insist otherwise, that doesn't change the fact that I'm a bad plumber. If I'm selling a widget for $10,000, but nobody buys it, it clearly isn't actually worth $10,000. This is true socially too. If I go to a party and everyone just zones out when I'm trying to tell them a story or they groan and roll their eyes at all my jokes, I clearly don't have value socially. If what I'm after is getting laughs and positive attention, how I feel about those jokes and stories is irrelevant, what matters is what the other partygoers think.

Self-worth is great for feeling better, but it's totally orthogonal to results.

In another disappointing date off Bumble...

I had high hopes for this one! A young 40s, good looking state attorney messaged me with great enthusiasm and questions! Double and triple txting on her end. Great back and forth and transparently honest.

We agree to hit my favorite bar, and she comes in. I should have known from the half hearted initial hug this was going to be a drag. I put on a brave face and try to make the most of it.

She's only been on 2 weeks and had a triple date last week thursday, and some over the weekend. Cool, she's single and ready to mingle! She asks about my experiences and I share at the same level of openness she has.

She tells me all about how she normally doesn't hook up with guys on the first date but that she sadly hooked up with a 55 year condescending man child, and had fun with a super flakey 32 year old. She regretted both. Internally I'm like great! She's open to trying things out, and she picks pretty poorly, a small kiss later on to see if there's chemistry should be no big deal, right?

Wrong. This super uptight, basic, over talkative Sagittarius is so disconnected from mind and body and she drones on about how her 18 year marriage ended because "children are kinda a drag on romance". And hearing her stupid laissez faire parenting style fuck up her children was just annoying me...

But that after sharing what she did has the nerve to back away from my escalation? I couldn't help but feel insulted.

It is a sad, super disappointing warzone for regular guys out there. The great majority of women who are open to casual encounters select so, so , so poorly their sexual partners. Like really fucking bad. Like I'm shaking my head how bad, and yet I'm failing with this type of women? It boggles the mind. I come in sharp, witty, warm, open body language, unafraid to be open and transparent, looking to connect, giving her my attention, being proximal and looking for great eye contact...

But even between her initial laughter and getting to know each other, and although she's a well off attorney ... there's an emptiness behind her eyes. A lack of real warmth. A vapidity. An empty shell that hides behind the idea that "everyone is always growing, always an eternal student" ... I couldn't help but feel so sad and discouraged last night.

I continually worked myself to improve, and this is what's out there for me? Highly discouraging. Thank GOD I still have 2 reliable FwBs. There really is no point in "dating". You try to find someone that connects on an emotional and intellectual level, and the physical ends up lacking. Or you get the mind blowing sex, but one finds out she is broken inside. And/or incompatible in all other facets of life.

I feel a man is best served having many different women to serve all the functions that are important to him. The woman who is fun and can financially and spontaneously take a trip to the Amalfi Coast. The younger sexier girl that is eager and happy to jump on your lap and rock your world. The friend who has her Poly Sci degree and can talk meaningfully about the state of things and even though I wish it can be more, she's only good for kissing because she gives horrible blowjobs and has little interest in sex and passion.

You can't have it all in one. It simply doesn't exist.

Now the only person in the pipieline is a 55 year old newly separated texas woman visiting her college age daughter for a few days over Thanksgiving. Honestly I'd rather be fucking her daughter. At least she's made it clear what she wants and expects, and although she looks FANTASTIC for her age, this is what I have on my plate.

I'm hungry. I've been hungry for so long, and though I long for big nutritious meals, all I get is half eaten garbage or junk food. And so I swallow my ego and accept mediocrity to try and satiate my starvation because... what is the alternative?

Another story about the resident conspiracy theorist at my job.

today is one of those "all hands meeting" at work and we actually had to go to the office (don't know exactly the reason why, but it happens twice a year so nobody complains). First, the guy came in sick at this meeting (in the meeting details it said that you could stay at home if you are sick) and the second one is that he thinks modern medicine is killing us and he will only take natural treatments. The problem is that his natural treatment was garlic and he keeps eating it throughout the day; if you get within 2 meters of him, it literally smells like garlic and it's not a good smell.
