Every day, we get people saying that apparently it's literally physically impossible for anyone who's an iota short of perfection to ever ever get close to holding hands with the opposite sex.

Every day, we get people like me and several others repeating for the umpteensquintillionth time that that's bullshit, average-looking people get together all the time, we know this as average people who know lots of other average people and occasionally shop at Walmart.

We dismiss them as making bitchy excuses and being unwilling to try. But then I realized that most of us who are saying this are a bit older. Mid to late thirties, forties and above. The ones complaining about impossible standards tend to be younger. So maybe I'm out of touch and don't understand how dating for people in their early to mid 20s works. Maybe it's changed radically since I was in my early to mid 20s. Has it? I for real don't know.

Is there a big difference in how psychotic standards have become for contemporary 20-somethings, compared to 30-somethings, 40-somethings etc? Discuss.
