I think the increase in gaming is inversely related to guys’ success with women. Instead of spending time outside with friends, learning how to interact and form relationships, lots of boys retreat to the comforts of the fantasy world inside games. In doing so, they fail to learn how to navigate the necessary trials and tribulations that come with growing up. As young boys turn into young men and then into grown men, the weight of these interactions become more intense and their importance gets compounded (think of asking a girl to a middle school dance vs senior prom). That compounded importance makes the inevitable failures (because very rarely do you have someone actually batting 1000) even more damaging, because they never learned how to handle the disappointment early.

New research out of Rutgers university says that men who play video games daily are more than 50% less likely to have casual sex than those who don’t game at all.

Supposing this is true (not here to argue the validity or methods of the study), would you give up playing video games 100% if it meant you were more likely to get laid?

Addendum for those answering no: how do you reconcile not wanting to give up something to improve your chances but then also lament the frustration of not getting sex?
