Men who are genuinely masculine in a safe and healthy way tend to generate submission from their wife or girlfriend organically and without struggle. Obviously, not all women but I'll venture to say....most. I think that a lot of women ENJOY being able to rely on a man for emotional comfort, feelings of safety, etc. I know for a fact that I'm a fucking treat according to most men (sarcastically, of course) outside of the context of a relationship because I'm not a submissive person per se, but in the context of my relationship? Oh yeah, my partner gets a sweet, warm, loving, comforting woman that loves to serve him and make him happy. He fucking deserves it. He doesn't have to put his foot on my neck to get that out of me, it's inspired within me to be that way because he's a good man. He's strong, he takes care of me, I'm his woman and he is my man.

When men go on and on about women's submission, they're telling on themselves and their inability to inspire that from the woman they're with.

If I felt safe and taken care of I would likely be submissive, but that’s because I prefer to be that way. Most women I know work and split things equally, they take care of each other and that’s how they prefer their relationships. It also doesn’t help that we live in a society that mostly requires a two income household, so even if one partner wanted to be a stay at home parent it’s fairly impractical. There is none in 2023. I think people will gravitate to people who are providing what they want in some way, for better or worse. For many people, it's gravitating toward submissive vs. dominant people.

My bf and I are both dominant types and we work really well together. Before me, he was usually with submissive and more introverted and quieter women. I'm the most dominant, talkative, extroverted and demanding woman he's been with and he wants to marry me. It just happens how it happens. I think for him, he likes submission in some forms, but not as much as some men who maybe prefer that as much as other core qualities. Despite his exes being more submissive, he says I'm the most caring and considerate partner he has ever been with. So it depends on what matters most to the guy and who he encounters in the wild.

He was seeing someone before we met and he felt that she liked to micromanage him, which he didn't like. So it also depends on how your dominance shows up. I hold him accountable and express when I want him to address something, but I don't micromanage him. I'm also very empathetic with him, kind, affectionate, and playful. We make sure we're soft, vulnerable, and open with one another. I voice my concerns and opinions but try not to doubt him or be overly critical, and I hold myself accountable when I do and ask what I can do better next time - and so does he. We resolve conflict very well. I think he values all of that far more than anything his submissive exes brought to the table, from the sound of it. And tbh, he prefers some aspects of my dominance, as a quieter guy - I'm very talkative and direct in how I'm feeling, what I want/need, etc. So again, it depends on the man and his values. I think being dominant on both ends makes our relationship stronger because of the expectation for respect and communication. However, other things are probably equally as important or more important.

Personally, I think we both submit to each other in different ways and we give each other space to lead. Kind of like how they say we all need feminine and masculine energy. I will lead planning vacations sometimes and doing research on things for us to do or on future things like real estate when we get married, he is actively investing and saving up for our downpayment on a place, wedding costs, ring, etc. We communicate and consider each other in all things necessary though. We split tasks/roles. Sometimes he cleans, sometimes I clean. I cook more for him than he does for me because he hates it, but he does cook for me sometimes because he knows I love it. He will do things he doesn't want to do, if he knows that it makes me happy. He'll follow my plans for things because he sometimes doesn't want to plan things. I'll follow his plans and decisions sometimes too. And as much as I wish I knew all the things he does about finance and investing, I trust him in making these decisions for our future together and ask him to teach me things.

The only areas where there's a clear dominant-submissive role is sex tbh. I like playing with submission when it comes to sex, and he's not as open minded about being sexually submissive like some previous partners I've had. I've dabbled in sexual dominance as well with the fwb I had before my bf. I enjoyed it, it was fun, but I ended up redirecting him to dominate me at one point lmao That's so classic for my personality type - the dominant who plays submissive and tells you to dominate her lolol Other than that, I really mostly enjoy being dominant with women, but it looks like those days are probably behind me. :')

I definitely don't want my partner looking for me being submissive as my selling point. That to me is a huge red flag and sounds off a potential alarm. Because submission just sounds really bad. Or he just wants to be king of the castle or just insecure in himself and looks less on women.

I think what people look for I think submissive is a horrible god awful way to describe but someone who is agreeable and comes in not demanding and expecting in a relationship. So...I'd say it like this. You are not best off being submissive to a man until you've been together quite a long time and he's aware that you are a formidable creature made of competence, teeth, and fully capable of captaining your own ship with or without him. And that frankly, you currently consider without his input to be vastly superior as options go.

On the right guy, this makes him work very very hard to impress you, please you, display his competence, and essentially try to earn the role of you taking his opinions or competence seriously. The carrot for him, however, is your submission. And when I say submission, I do not mean doe-eyed jello submission that I think most men mean.

I'm saying the carrot is him earning you being willing to say, "oh do you think that. Well, let's try it your way and see how that works out". He's earning the right to captain both your ships from time to time. And there is incentive for you not only because of all the showing off, but because if he actually displays being worthy of this, you do get some burdens of activity removed (decision making is a burden, taking the blame is a burden, doing the math for two people is a burden). You get to rest, because he's going to handle all the numerous things you're usually being very competent about, whatever they are.

Men tend to like this. It makes them feel very important. It makes them feel worthy and trusted. It makes them feel respected. That's good for a relationship assuming you want it to go on into the future.

Now, with that said, I would never recommend a woman take her hand off the wheel entirely. It does everyone well to be reminded that the power behind the throne is not asleep and that if you're forced to rouse yourself, it will all get put into order and in no time flat.

Please note, for a lot of men, they despise the auditioning process and do not like being forced to demonstrate themselves. This is good, it removes them from the running. But you can't remove this sort of man from the running if you aren't willing to dangle the possibility of submission.

In all reality, nothing - but in a situation where she wants to be a housewife or live a more traditional life, it will attract men who do want a traditional lifestyle (as well as abusive ones, sadly) - then again, what’s why you should never lean too much on one side - ie. have a submissive side to yourself, but guard it well and protect it and let it come out when trust is entirely established, rather than letting it be the primary push in a relationship.

I’m a spoiled stay at home wife. I don’t have to lift a finger on the cars, I don’t take the trash out, or do any pest control or lawn maintenance. My husband takes pride in all of that and feels insulted if I even offer to grab groceries out of the truck. He is VERY traditional and so am I.

Y'all need church. Not just to go and be cool. Whatever. The point is that humans are individuals but we have similarities. Churches used to have groups of women that could council and advise women through these stages of life.

Men want certain things on average. Women over time value certain things. Some decisions you make will effect your long term prospects.

When people get married there should be expectations that are discussed. I'm a physician. I don't need the same thing a plumber needs. I care little what a woman does for a living. I want a pretty wife that's a mother. That's the most valuable thing to me. I don't care about her salary. Her being a boss b or any of this crap. To me when I have time from work. I want to come home to a pretty woman a clean house and little to no stress.

This is where these church groups can help. Maybe I push too far. Maybe she thinks I'm supposed to go out and fist fight to prove my love for her. It gets her juices flowing and a bunch of dumb crap. It gets my job lost and my ability to feed a family.

Honestly it depends on your partner. The only reason I am not submissive is because I have never met a man that I could trust in that way. If they're out there, you'll find that person and that will become your natural decision.

Bro… women submit because they are turned on… smitten. It doesn’t always have to be an autistic cost/benefit calculus.

To indulge you, yes there is a benefit to submission because the highest quality man will appreciate it and value you far more than a chick with too much lip and a poor attitude. The subconscious is always aiming to maximize survival and a male warrior needs primarily a capable sidekick who doesn’t question his plan when life and death are milliseconds apart. Obviously this sounds exaggerated, but this is what our hindbrains are doing.

Women’s rights are a completely different subject and irrelevant to the conversation of whether submissiveness or independence is a better choice. Get that straw man out of here. Women can have full legal and social rights (as they essentially do now) and still they benefit from adopting a submissive approach to good men.

Give the right man full submission and he will protect and cherish you to his death. It’s deeply rooted in us.

I think people are conflating submissive with cooperative here. People generally don’t want to be subordinate to a partner - it would be like having a manager in bed beside you performance managing you all the time - but want to collaborate with a co-conspirator and play to each other’s strengths. It can’t be the two of you against the world when one person always holds the other one’s leash.

The incentive is stable relationships with traditional men. If you don't want either then not being submissive is fine, but otherwise you're getting in your own way.

“Submission” is such a loaded term. I think it’s WAY too strong and kind of weird.

I think most dudes would just prefer a woman who isn’t super combative about pointless things and isn’t looking for red flags where there isn’t any.

As far as “why a woman would want to be incentive”… I have NO idea. All I can say is that every woman I have ever dated… no matter how combatitive they were in the beginning… reverted to a more “submissive” kind of role… whether I wanted her to or not.
