It’s my birthday month and the first one I’ve had single in 6 years. I took a small trip with a friend where I got to check off multiple things on my bucket list, visited some nice places in the city and will be making myself a Japanese cake roll for my birthday. It’s amazing how much better my life is without my lvm ex who was a couch creature. I’ve been able to give myself such an amazing birthday month meanwhile he never even knew of one gift to get me. It got me thinking about how so many women think they’re incomplete and unhappy without a man. Meanwhile I’ve been living my life being true to myself better than I ever could with my ex even before the pandemic. Forever grateful to this sub for reminding me to always check in with myself.

So I'm still dating that chicka from 3 weeks ago and it's going super swell. She's so sweet - she reserved a spot at a fine dining restaurant and we drove for 30 minutes at night, just talking and enjoying the ambience of the night. Afterwards we hung out at her place and just watched shows.

Then there's the issue of my guy friend who is acting low-key butthurt about the fact that I'm into women now and he doesn't stand a chance. He's very much into things being 50/50. He organized a trip to Monterey, CA with me and just yesterday he asked to take my car since gas is expensive. And then he expressed discomfort about being the third wheel to our 7 person trip to Lake Tahoe.

We hung out together and watched promising young women and he made a comment about "I kind of understand why that guy laughed and didn't do anything.. I mean I don't think -" and I just stared at him and put him in the situation with the other girl as his sister and saw how he liked it. Like the entire premise of the movie - did he completely miss it?

I honestly thought he was a fairly okay guy, but now I see he's definitely LVM and I'm glad we never really got together.

Hi ladies, I just wanted to share that I just got into nursing school! In two years I will have a BScN and I will be a nurse!! I can't believe it. I am entering the last few years of my twenties and I have consistently felt like a failure throughout my early twenties, when I was a pickme.

Hey ladies, car buying tip. I went alone Saturday to buy a car. I had a check, up to 25k, ready to sign over. I was pre-approved by my credit union.

They still bait and switched me, and held me up, and treated me badly.

So my mom said, "Do not call them, just find what you want, walk onto the lot and ask if they have it. If they do say I can walk out the door at 22k you have 20 min to say yes or no. I will not listen to anything else or look further. GO!" And then time them, and walk out if they say any other word other than yes or no.

I wish I had known this before Saturday. Dealing with Car salesmen always makes me cry. Out of frustration. And Saturday was no different. No new car, just lesson learned.

It is 2021 there is no way in hell I'm bringing a dude to buy a car. I CAN DO THIS.

Hey ladies, could use some encouragement and strength (and a place to rant). I have been dating this guy for about 6 months. Last night I found out he's planning to hang out with his ex-gf (to see her new rabbit?) when he visits his hometown. This really caught me off guard - when we first started dating she would call him in the middle of the night sometimes to get emotional support, and it made me very uncomfortable. I told him, and he agreed it was inappropriate and that he would stop talking to her (even block her). A couple years ago, he lent her $800 to pay rent (after they had broken up).

I told him it makes me uncomfortable, and he got mad and hung up. He texted me this morning, acting as though things are completely normal. I know I have to end it, I just feel so disrespected. I don't even want to argue or explain to him why I'm uncomfortable. If his friendship with this girl is so important, then he can have it. I also have the right to step away from something if my gut tells me something's wrong.

I was hanging out with a guy friend a few weeks ago and got a weird feeling and like a message popped into my mind saying "you shouldn't be alone with this guy." He's always been a gentleman to me, he's helped me with things around my house, drives to see me, gave me a guitar that he had laying around. Our relationship has never gone beyond friends though and we know a lot of mutual people who all hang out together. I'm totally trusting my intuition on this one but I'm wondering if I should tell our mutual friends about this. I think he picked up that my attitude and feelings towards him had changed and honestly I don't really care too much about that. I finally hit my $1.4M net work FIRE mark! I'm still going to work though (for the health insurance), but this means I can up my horse entertainment budget closer to $2k/month.

With animals like cats, dogs, horses, etc, I really feel like I get more than what I put in. They have shown me that I wasn't crazy for feeling like something was "off" with most heterosexual partnerships.

I could spend the same amount of money per month on an unappreciative and secretly resentful dusty and not get nearly as much joy back as I get from horses. I'm glad I chose horses instead.

I just ended things with a guy I’ve been dating for 7 months. The whole time we’re dating, he was broke, didn’t have a job, but was looking for one. I told him I didn’t want to be in a relationship with a man with no job especially because I work hard for my job, make six figures and I would want my boyfriend to be close to being my equal financially.

Despite this, we kept dating and he’s been extremely thoughtful, still paid for everything, drives an hour to see me and back every weekend, always makes sure I’m happy. I broke it off with him because he started asking me to pay since he’s broke which didn’t sit well with me because I expect the guy I’m dating to pay for us when we’re out. It also doesn’t feel right for me to be dating someone who has no job.

Am I being too stingy / selfish? Should I get back with him and start paying for more things? How do you decide who pays for things if you’re further along in the relationship?

OVER 3 WEEKS AGO I match with this guy on Hinge. He goes with the “I’m not good at texting how about we meet up?” 🤮 I’m bored and trying to avoid hanging out with one of my friends so I say sure but only to a morning date (I’m fully vaccinated and we wore masks) We meet up around 11am and get tacos. He tells me the name on his profile is not his real name as we’re ordering (you walk up and pay and order, then pick a seat outside) 🚩 I ordered ONE taco and so does he, the bill comes to be $10. He asks to SPLIT THE BILL 🚩 I tell him I’ll pay (to be like wow you’re really THAT freakin cheap you liar?) and this MF GOES “oh I love feminism” so I say “no I’m just trying to show you it’s only $10 and it’s super cheap of you to ask to split.” He laughs but then gets awkward. We wait for our food and I know at this point I never wanna see him again. During the meal he unloads a lot of personal drama on me, only allows me to speak when he asks a question and then IMMEDIATELY cuts me off after I’ve answered it (no room for me to tell jokes or stories, normal conversation stuff!!) date ends he says he had an awesome time (I’m sure you did 🙄) texts me immediately to have another date TOMORROW NIGHT. I respond saying something polite like hey nice meeting you but my life is really busy with work and friends and all my hobbies but HAVE A GOOD ONE. He responds being like “oh we can do something non committal and casual 😏” and I respond no thanks I’m not at that point in my life where I wanna do hook ups anymore but HAVE A GOOD ONE GOOD LUCK OUT THERE. HE RESPONDS AGAAAAAIN writing a paragraph complimenting my beauty my wit my humor my drive blah blah love bombs galore, AND THEN goes “I love all those things about you, sex would just be icing on the cake.” I’ve spoken to this man who lied about his name a grand total of 3 hrs in my 26 years of life. How does he claim to love these things about me when we don’t know each other. I don’t respond Bc I’ve made it clear twice I’m not interested. He then, every three days for THREE weeks texts me random “how are you”s and “when can I see you again”s. Well today, after nearly a month of me literally not responding he goes “alright, I guess I can see when I’m being ghosted. I recently got hired as a manager in my department with a 15% pay raise. I am making a dumb (as in “phat”) amount of money. I haven’t told anyone about the raise or how much I make aside from my best friend and close family. But I so badly want to.

Lockdown is lifting here and the spring weather is great, however the amount of sexual harassment going on is ridiculous. I know the advice is to not tell a man what you're looking for in a relationship so they tell you what they're looking for to help vet. I found fds after I started dating my current bf, so that ship has sailed. I have a 6 year old and I haven't decided what I want long term yet. I told him that I want a partner, but the timeline is unclear. I don't know if I want to live with a man and my daughter, I probably don't want to get married again, but I know I want someone involved and supportive of all areas of my life. He was very open to that and supportive, but when I asked what he wants long term he said that whatever I'm comfortable with and whatever time-frame I'm good with he's fine with, he just wants to be with me. It feels nice having a man be supportive of what I'm comfortable with, but I wonder if his go with the flow attitude about it is a red flag or something I should look at more. I'm not interested in living with him anytime soon (or ever maybe), but I do want our relationship to progress and grow deeper and stronger. He's shown many hvm traits but I don't want to get complacent. Thoughts?

In 10 days I have to take final exams for the two classes I’m taking in my part time masters, and then the next day I’m finally moving out of my apartment I share with my LVX.

I’ve been super stressed about all 3 of these events happening basically at the same time, but today I am feeling much less stressed.

Over the weekend I packed a lot of things I don’t use everyday and I’m now like 60-70% packed. I also got ahead in both classes so my actual coursework is done and the only things left are the exams.

And today both classes finally released grades from the second midterms and in class 1 only 1 person did better than me, and in class 2 only 2 people. Both classes are graded entirely based on grade distribution, not 90%/80%/etc, which I was stressing about because I like being solely in control of my own fate. But now I’m looking very solid in both classes.

For the first time in a while all the tasks ahead of me seem extremely doable. I’m even looking forward to starting to make my study guides tonight because I don’t have to rush. I can have a nice cup of tea and enjoy myself ☺️

in other news someone close to me had a dude break up with them after she stated she wanted more communication he said he was busy etc all bullshit. so she stopped talking to him bc i told her about no contact, breadcrumbs, etc. he kept sending texts and then was going to try and meet her out while she was walking (he knows she walks with the dudes landlord every week that's how they met). so she sent him a message saying not to contact her and blocked him. then he sends her and email saying he's in love with her and she's he one lmaoo.

luckily i know exactly what's going on because she was so confused how he could say this after literally dumping her i told her he was triggered bc he didn't expect you to cut contact and he is absolutely not in love with you his ego is bruised abandonment issues etc etc. thankfully she listened and sent him a final email back with a formal no conact letter that she will take legal action if he doesn't stop (i could tell he was a stage 5 clinger so told her to do this bc it sets a legal precedent in case she has to file a restraining order etc.) he said 'sorry' and that he won't contact her but seriously what the fuck is wrong with these men???

i told her to tell the landlady so that he won't try to meet up and that she doesn't want any messages relayed and then to also tell her landlord in case he shows up there and to call the cops if he does but i'm across the country so all i can do is advise but i'm low key a little worried for her still. these fucking scrotes and their audacity. i'm disgusted. and of course he is like 15 years older than her. smh.

I just need to vent so I can move on with my life.

I dumped my boyfriend (who is 40) in Feb. We were living together and he moved out in March. Saw him on Tinder not that long ago with a bio that felt sort of like a personal attack on me. He mentioned being "naturally happy" and that he was looking for someone who was the same way. Despite the fact that I'm generally happy and medicated for symptoms of C-PTSD, he would tell me whenever I tried talking to him about problems in our relationship (like no sex, him not taking the same interest in my life that I took in his) that I just thrived on conflict and enjoyed being unhappy. That I didn't love myself enough to let myself be happy.

Before breaking up, we did couple's counseling because he begged me (I had wanted to break up with him early into us living together), and she told him he was conflict avoidant and too invested in being right at the same time. We read a book together she suggested that I finished and he didn't, and when we did the activities he always had trouble with any of the ones involving knowing details about my life. ALSO YOU'RE 40, GOOD LUCK FINDING SOMEONE AGE APPROPRIATE WITHOUT KIDS WHO IS "NATURALLY HAPPY" AKA A CONFLICT AVOIDANT DOOR MAT.

I start my new job next week. I've been killing it in getting back into shape since breaking up with the ex, including breaking 200lbs on my deadlifts again. (I used to be a competitive powerlifter.) He told me I was "too focused" on work that I'd have trouble enjoying the time I had between jobs, but I've been productive and happy (well, once I got over being fired and emo about the break up). Studied for the Certified Fraud Examiner exam and am midway through a certificate program. Read a bunch of books. I'm in an interesting/unique niche professionally and have met up with a bunch of big players in my industry about different opportunities after being approached by them/headhunted. I got two Savannah cats while we were together because I was lonely and they remain juuuust fine in terms of giving me love and companionship. Weird how I'm happier being alone than being lonely with him!

I'm beginning to question if it's really worth it dating men at all when you are a bisexual woman. FDS works, when you follow through. No doubt about it. But do I really want to be on constant guard over even the most mundane things in a relationship with a man? Is he really worth it, even if he covers 100% of our costs. I know, that women can be abusive as well. Yet some issues would be simply nonexistant, like unwanted pregnancy. When I weight the HVM in my life against the HVW in my life the HVW still wins.

Edit: I don't mean this to come off as hateful in any way. I'm saying that on average women bring more value into my life than men do. Emotional labor still remains unpaid labor.

This is an update to a previous question. A guy ive been on a date kept pushing past my "no"s, questioning it, and convincing me otherwise. He pressured me to become "official"and posted me on his social media. He also suggested a hotel as a date.This seems like a huge red flag, doesnt it?

I met up with my ex husband and dog (that he took far away from me and I was too focused on survival to fight for at the time) last weekend and brought my new puppy. I’m doing well, expressed as much and I’m feeling a sort of survivor’s guilt. I don’t know if I laid it on too thick that I was doing well. We met at a restaurant and my puppy was getting endless attention from everyone and I chatted people up more than he ever saw during our time together. I left my ex due to emotional abuse caused by his toxic upbringing and heavy alcohol use. Basically, no, I’m not in love with him anymore, but I know there’s a good person in there and I’ll always care about him.

I feel a sense of sadness about him not feeling ok. I asked him not to call me so frequently over the past year because I always felt awful after our calls, as he would constantly say triggering things. I feel guilty about that as well.

I always get the feeling that he’s still in love with who he thinks I am and would drop everything if I expressed even the tiniest amount of remorse. When I don’t get press as much and only have positive things to say about my place in life, I feel guilty.

Anyone has any general piece of advice to help me dip Into the next phase of life?

I've gotten back into dating the last month or so and I'm genuinely surprised how many LVM I've come across; I'm so grateful for this sub because before I was completely clueless and had no idea how to navigate or even acknowledge men's behaviors. And now, it's so clear!

Also, the amount of hate this sub gets just shows how many men are upset about women finally setting down standards and boundaries for themselves, its hilarious to see.
