I'm surprised you are arguing that men go for rich girls. Usually, people claim that men are hypergamous because men go for the prettiest women.

In any case, there's no decent evidence that wealth makes a woman much more attractive to men. But there's plenty of evidence that wealth makes a man more attractive to women. Just look at a romance novels. Not every male lead in romance novels is rich, but it's definitely a common trait. 50 Shades of Gray is about a super rich entrepreneur seducing the plain-jane woman. How about Pride and Prejudice? Everyone want that rich Mr Darcy. If you look at any kind of porn which bothers with a plot, you will rarely see a rich woman seducing a man.

Or look at marriage rates by income level. A man's rate of marriage goes up with increasing wealth, and his odds of divorce go down with increasing wealth. What do you think the numbers are for women as their wealth increases?

While we having the past century attacked that second gender role, and other gender roles that mostly negatively affect women, We do not do the same when it comes to the gender roles that negatively affect men.

As such it's part of this illusion of masculinity that men should make more than their partners, and this is reflected by how a lot of women, about 22%, do not want to date men who make less than them, and a significantly more number of men, about 62%, do not want to date women who make more than them.

Everybody wants to be hypergamous but only women are usually able to do it successfully... at least to some degree.

I don't subscribe to the idea that there is a widespread, conscious execution of some "Alpha Fucks, Beta Bucks" conspiracy by women, but there are some signs that there are at least tendencies for this to happen.

If we look at the "bucks" part of marriages we can see that in 84% of marriages men earn more or as much as women (55% earn more + 29% earn around the same). The majority of married women are "hypergamous" in that they selected men who earn more than them.

Not all of this can be attributed to women intentionally selecting men who earn as much or more and excluding the rest. "In 2022, women ages 25 to 34 earned an average of 92 cents for every dollar earned by a man in the same age group – an 8-cent gap." There are simply more men making more so there are bound to be more couples with men making more. Still, only 16% of women marrying men who make less than them seems to indicate that women have a strong preference against accepting that situation.

As for the "fucks" part, I don't have any numbers. I'll rely on the uncontroversial ideas that men are typically hornier and have lower standards for casual sex. Based on my anecdotal experience, lots of men who are 8s will be be willing to have casual sex with a woman 6 if she signals that she is willing to do so. Since women are typically less hormonally driven to have sex and face more risks they usually maintain higher standards. So the reverse, an 8 woman having sex with a 6, is much more rare. Maybe you would disagree that it's more of a 1 point difference and not 2, but I hope we can agree that the horniness of men is easy to exploit if a woman chooses to seek out casual sex.

This is the difference. Women usually have access to sex with more attractive men and access to commitment and marriage with men who make more money than them. Men usually have neither. Everybody wants to be hypergamous and maximize the benefits they get from relationships. At least in these two categories women are they only ones who can usually do it successfully.

It's not a conspiracy. It just happens to be this way.

I think all humans want the best they can get, ideally speaking.

Humans are dimorphic. I think females atavistically desire “security and stability” more than males. Males seem to atavistically desire “youth and beauty and sex and maternal nurturing.”

This is an important distinction because a major proxy for “security and stability” is being able to provide that via yes the ability to protect but mainly by having resources aka money to “secure” that lifestyle “stability.” Furthermore it makes sense that the gender that incubates, births, and care-takes children would care about “security and stability” comparatively more.

Women desiring her primal needs of “security and stability” has been turned into “women marrying someone of more socioeconomic means than herself” which is how the world defines “hypergamy.” Females having a less compulsive libido than males exacerbates her willingness to hold out for her “stability and security” standards compared to males’ willingness to hold out for his standards of “young, beautiful, nubile, and maternal.”

Makes me think why isn’t there a word for men desiring someone younger, more beautiful, more nubile, and more nurturing than himself?

I think this is because in many cases, children caught in the middle of a divorce or separation instantly become the ticket to a new life for the mother.

And since it's easier to find that as a dynamic, you see it more often.

There are cases where it's reversed, but they are far in between.. as courts are more likely to side with the mother right away as compared to the father as his criteria to achieve this is much more difficult.

Why a women can be working at burger King. And be valued the same. As if she would be rich.

Same does not count for men. Men cares much much less about the material value a women can offer. But much more about the value her presence gives. So not combative. Caring. Most affection also is about safety and security. Why even do women say they want 6 6 6 men that's often just social media let's talk along with everyone else cause I can horse shit. So it makes the requirements and desires get bigger and bigger.

You all need an anthropology class or two. So many people equate money with caste or higher social strata. For the US, that’s mostly true, but not entirely. There is still a big difference between old money and new in the NE us. And my hub faced certain… questions even though he made more dough than me when he met my family because at the time he hasn’t completed his undergrad degree. A man marrying a woman more conventionally attractive is its own form of hypergamy. The point is that we all try to marry above our social status which is a combination of money, status, looks, and other things.

Edited to add - looked at the Oxford definition of hypergamy which incudes “social status.” Again social status is sometimes but not always defined as your bank account.

Men are natural givers and women are natural takers. That's how we evolved, it's an instinct and changing social norms or regulations will not change that. It's not good, bad or unfair, it is what it is.

I've been poor and now I'm comfortbly in the top 1% (mostly in assets). Being rich is like dating on easy mode. All that bullshit that women find attractive - "safety", "confidence", "stability", "acting like a man" - it's all derivative of having money. Women lie to themselves that's is those other things, but it's just the money.

I was young, handsome and in shape and I had average success - I was getting a date out of 2-3 out of 10 women I asked out. Later in my mid 30s my hairline has receded, I'm 20lbs overweight, I have gray hairs in my head and beard, dark curcles around my eyes, I'm stressed from work (bigger money = bigger problems for self-made men like me) and I can't get rid of women anywhere I go, it has became annoying. Even the married ones make inadequate attempts to flirt - it would've been funny if it wasn't sad.

And it's not only the gold diggers - even the ones who rejected you before become interested and want to get close to you. They see your watch, your car, your house, your social media - and women start coming out of the woodwork 🤣

i don't care about a woman's financial situation as long as she is not in substantial amounts of debt. i'd rather focus on other qualities that are more important to me. all of my exes made a fraction of what i make or had no income at all.

my friends are pretty similar in that regard, one of them was in a 7 year relationship with a law student and took care of all the bills and expenses for example. statistically, male breadwinners are about 3.5 times more likely than female breadwinners, as far as marriages go. i think over 90% of alimony is paid by men too.

Men aren't concerned with a woman's pockets the same way a woman is concerned with a man's. Part of it is societal, and the other part is just innate, but we're providers at heart.

I'm considered new money. I've met a lot of old money while I've built my little empire. Only rich old money (men) tend to exclusively look for rich women, but these women are also descendants of old money, so it's not hypergamous.

New money men tend to date and marry women far below them on the financial totem pole.

Men who aren't rich aren't stupid enough to think they'll get a rich woman. He probably can't even get a text back from 3 out of 10 of them.

I think most people date within the socioeconomic background but I do think women are more hypergamous than men.

A man on average doesn't care about a womens job unless it's an extreme but I'd argue women care much more about a mans income, job and status. Like for example I don't see many women dating a male janitor they will usually say that he is not ambitious enough but flip this I think most men won't mind if the female is a janitor.

Everyone is hypergamous. The biggest difference between most men and women is that men tend to be a lot more realistic and aware that there's always going to be trade-offs if you go for the biggest catch. Heck, I knew this even before I started dating.

Any girl who is much better looking than you are will require you to constantly initiate, whether it's small talk, planning dates, or taking the relationship to the next level - kissing, sleeping together, moving in (Unless you are Chad) and even then, there's no guarantee you'll bag her because you are backup option #14. By some miracle, all 13 people stop pursuing her or find somebody else, you are stuck with this knowledge as long as she's with you.

Furthermore, anyone who is both rich and pretty will always be career woman (not California girls) who sacrificed most of their femininity and personality in order to get this far. They'll never have time for you and be very hard to talk too.

Women are hypergamous cause they are driven by instinct to always go for the one guy that is the best of the best. Men are polygynous cause they are driven by instinct to only go for as many good enough women (non fat and non old) as humanly possible. Hypergamy in the colloquial sense and the red pill sense are different. Same as alpha and beta and many other things that became colloquial speech with the passing years.

Also, why would anyone opt out of receiving resources as a consequence of who you partner? Access to resources (read: wealth) is inherently attractive and it is adaptive to pursue it though hard work and through social relationships.

Because that is not how our sexuality works.
