This is a common misunderstanding of the 20/80 rule. 20% of the men are not having sex with 80% of the women--20% of the men are having 80% of the reported sexual partners. And actually, the real numbers are more like 10/60. To assume that means that they are having sex with 80% of the women is to assume that 100% of women are having exactly the same amount of sex, which is ridiculous.

This rule holds for women, too. The top 10% of promiscuous men are reporting roughly 50% of the total male sexual pairings, and the top 10% of promiscuous women are also reporting 50% of the total female sexual pairings. Roughly 80% of both men and women have had fewer than 10 lifetime sexual partners. What is actually going on is that really promiscuous people are having lots of sex with other really promiscuous people, as would be expected in a free sexual marketplace.

Well I’d assume 100% of this statistic is exclusively regarding single, straight women.

However I don’t see how this statistic can possibly withstand considering the prominent diversity in women’s taste. Also, it’s been proven that women prefer men around their own age throughout their lifetime. 20% of men is too small of a group based off of age alone.

More times than I can count I have seen my girl friends drool over men who I think are hideous or generally undesirable. And even more times than this I’ve been deeply drawn and attracted to men who my friends have said “ewww” to when I tell them about who I’m crushing on.

I just simply don’t buy that 80% of women are attracted to the same 20% of men. The classic “Chad” doesn’t even seem desirable, unless of course the image of Chad has changed with cultural changes and I am basing my view of Chad based on the 2004 version.

Looking for relationships and hookups online and being the ones to slide into guys DM’s not just on dating apps but other social media. Since we don’t get approached in person and have minimal luck on apps. People keep forgetting that when we say "all women" it literally means ALL WOMEN. We need to specify and say that this statistic only applies to a certain percent of the total female population - that percentage of women who are of of sexual/romantic age and capacity like 18-58 of physically healthy women or something. Then it starts to make more sense.

Whenever we are discussing dating it should be made clear we are not including girls below a certain age or over a certain age or women who are physically indisposed and are thus not in the dating pool and women who are mentally or otherwise handicapped. We are also not counting nuns, married women, or women who are WGTOW (Pink Pillers) - basically any women who is not in the dating poor for any reason.

I am 43 but when I was in high school and just afterwards the bigger and less attractive women married really quickly to men around their same level. I know three couples that are still married and have great marriages and it has been about 25 years of marriage. Women that were attractive in high school have been divorced and remarried or in the case of my high school crush never married. I know several other very attractive women that never married. They all had very high standards as far as looks and careers that could never be met and they aged out of the market. One of them dates younger guys because she thinks younger men like her but she is just too old to know that she is being spun like a plate.

Women can have sex almost anytime they want even most unconventionally attractive women. The top 20% of men can have sex pretty much when they want. Men have far lower standards and considering evolution it is fine for them to mate on any level that they want. So the top 20% of men are rotating through 80% of the women.

The 20% of women probably have different values, already latched on to someone and married, or feel frustrated because although women gate-keep relationships men gate-keep marriage.

The older attractive women that I mentioned are like that “why will no man marry me?” They don’t understand that men gatekeep marriage. They are unwilling to lower their standards. So they get frustrated with that dynamic.

Meanwhile older men can gain value over time and not lose it like women so all men have to do is wait until their careers peak or they mature into a silver fox and they can not only stay in the game but possibly have better game than when they were young.

Doesn't the 80/20 rule only apply to dating apps? I mean I don't disagree on ideas like "Female Hypergamy" and the vast majority of Women pursuing the top 10 - 20% of Men; but I don't think it's the "end all" of Gender Relationships.

When I think of any woman I know, I wouldn't describe any of them as being with or attempting to be with the top 20% of men. I mean that'd stereotypically be men who look like models, are under 30, rich, also really decent people, like a full stereotypical package. My friends/family are not rich models and they tend to be with men on a similar level to them. I don't know any wonen who are like, oh hell no I won't date this guy because he's not earning 400k a year and isn't a calvin Klein model. Where do people even get this nonsense?
