CMV: the reason why women need to be regulated to doing chores at home is because they make most of the mess and demand to buy most of the material items and clutter that is needed too be cleaned up in the first place.

Just thought I’d share this paper I found while digging for other sources.

Tldr: the general consensus evidence for fetal pain starts occurring at ~24 weeks may not be as well supported as we would like, and neuroscientific evidence may support fetal pain occurring at ~12 weeks despite the lack of a cerebral cortex.

I’d suggest reading it and coming to your own conclusions. Just some food for thought.

I'm just going to post this story in response to the open relationships thread from yesterday:

My first exposure to the concept of "open relationship" was when my best friend freshman year of college convinced his poor sap of a boyfriend to open their relationship (i.e. let him fuck other people- the boyfriend was so obsessed with him that I doubt he went and found anyone else, and my friend was definitely aware of this because he said it at the time). Obviously a different dynamic from an open marriage because these were 18 year olds in a month-long relationship before it became "open", but honestly, I think that the younger both the relationship and the people in it are the MORE likely an "open relationship" is doomed to fail. (Like, if you're married adults there's a 95% chance the relationship is fucked, but if you're college kids that have been together a few months there's a 99.9% chance the relationship is fucked.)

Anyway, my friend turned out to be a complete narcissist who treated everyone this way- like toys that he could handle as roughly as he wanted, put away when he was bored with them, and would still be there when he wanted to play with them again. He cut off his best friend from high school because she was mad that he'd inadvertently cost her $2000 (he was basically completely supported by his parents while she'd had to survive on her own from a young age- little to no empathy from him, though.) Tried to make me cut her off, too. MONTHS later he decided to unblock her and was surprised Pikachu that she'd blocked him in the meantime. The crazy part is that she eventually forgave him and a few months later he cut me off and made her do the same.

So, yeah... suggesting an "open relationship" (not polyamory, which is different) almost always means "I'm not that into you but want to keep you around as a backup while I fuck other people, and also, I am a shit human being who sees you and probably everyone else as objects I can use and put away at my leisure." Male, female, gay, straight- doesn't matter.

And i gotta say, Cruella and the other main character, the Baroness, are fantastic female characters, which are surprisingly hard to come by. All female charcters tend to be either the sweetie, the sexy, the smarty, the "I'm just a normal quirky girl", or the badass.

I know a lot of people here, myself included, are frustrated with the realities of the dating market as it pertains directly to their own self interest.

Sometimes I try to take a step back and remove myself, my desires, and my circumstances from the equation and it actually gets much worse. The kind of social changes I think would be necessary to course-correct are radically opposed to current trends. Not only that, I myself have desired, participated in, and on some level seek to continue engaging in some of those patterns of behavior that are fundamentally at odds with those I see as necessary for a healthy society.

After spending 6 years in therapy looking back I realised nothing I did in therapy actually helped me be less anxious or sad, talking about my problems didn't help, I still had the problems this random therapist just now knew about them.

I got rid of them by getting my arse in the gym and stopped being lazy, talking about the things that depressed me did fuck all, lifting heavy shit is what basically cured me.

First time using the apps, initially having the age filter being 35+. Then, out of curiosity, I set it to 25+, and I was shocked by how many (attractive) matches I was getting. I NEVER thought that I'd have younger guys like that be interested in me, though I'm aware most of the younger ones just want sex.

The 3 that I've had so far were in their mid-late 20s, and were very attractive - but they were not much talkers, which is fine.

In terms of the sex, it wasn't anything spectacular, however it felt amazing having them crave me so bad. I loved their reactions whenever I took my clothes off, and I certainly didn't feel 42. Afterwards, they would just get up to leave, and then I would carry on with my night.

I've definitely felt a lot better sexually and I feel sexy at times, but I can't help but feel that this isn't what a single mother with 2 teenagers should be doing.

When I seperated at 37 I went through a phase kinda similar.

I have had a similar phase and my advice is that it’s fine for a while. But at some point it becomes a crutch you rely on to validate yourself, and then it kind of becomes unhealthy.

I did this in my early 40's... I just thought of it as my sexual prime. Like you I was shocked at the response I got from so many attractive young men. I spent a fortune on condoms, but I had a great time and met some great guys. Including my current partner, he was 29 and I was 42. That was 17 years ago. I suggest the late 20's they're mostly past the drama by then.
