My SO is 13 years older than me. As I look back when we met it was indeed …. Weird. If you’re dating someone 18+ you’re not a pedo. It’s stupid when people say that however there are creepy guys who date 18/19 year olds because that’s the youngest theyre legally allowed to date or go after.

I think age gaps are fine but when dating 18/19 even 20 year olds it’s concerning how many of these big age gap relationships go sour. It highlights how it’s not just these people who go after younger looking people but also younger acting people.

If you’re 30+ and your maturity levels match a barely legal person that’s a problem. Also most 30 yr olds are in different periods of their life that early 20 year olds aren’t.

Yes age gaps can work but most of the time they don’t it’s because of the older person going after younger ones for ill reasons.

AllWomen aren’t bitter. Most women have been hit on by older guys and it’s gross to see how many of them have daughters our age. So those women are coming from a place of bad personal experiences

It's not the act (much older man/younger woman) that most women have a problem with, it's the guy that's trying/doing it. I've seen guys in their late 30's to early 40's chasing after women who are 22-25 years old.

If it's a guy they feel positive about (attractive) they don't have a negative word to say about it. It's only when they don't know or don't like a guy (unattractive) that's when it's "creepy" "predatory" etc.

the problem is there is no hard rule. sometimes two people with a significant (legal) age gap genuinely fall in love, and in such a lonely world i think it's wrong to try to police that. on the other hand, there are definitely older dudes who go specifically for very young women because they are easier to control, and something about that is definitely creepy. when it comes to this topic i think we need to use our judgement and common sense. when something seems fishy it usually is.

At the end of the day, it brings out the worst of people’s insecurities, those involved and not involved. Women feel insecure because the men, typically at the height of his career and field, has his pick of women and goes younger. The women themselves involved, despite feminism and all of the rights gained, choices to be objectified and under a man. The men and others feel as those the women can’t possibly be attracted to someone their grandfathers age (look at Al Pacino, Bill Billichek, and Robert De Niro). I agree almost completely. I'd clarify that If you're talking about a 40 year old dating 18 year old's though I'd say it is weird and most people, even normal people outside of these groups you mention would agree. A 40-50 year old man dating a 25-30 year old is a lot different and it does happen. Most people probably would think it is a little bit odd but wouldn't make a big deal out of it while the groups you mention frequently do make loud and polarizing cases against it. If I had a daughter who was 18-24 dating a 40+ year old I'd be pretty livid personally and tell said guy to fuck off. 25+ is where I'd make the cut off of her being a developed, mature and consenting adult to date that far out of her age range.

Can't deny the generalization that women in general can be very catty; jealous/insecure/competitive/petty. When you have an overweight, purple haired, septum piercing, tattoo she/her who honestly could probably still fuck but doesn't get as much positive attention from men they're going to criticize those around them a lot and that probably goes for relationships with a closer age gap too. They're the ones who do this sort of thing the most I've found and attractive women almost never do this sort of thing. They use political narratives, men are trash, MeToo and all that as further fuel for their fire and further justification. A lot if it is projecting their own insecurities and personal failures on others and scapegoating.
