I don't understand why people act like people choose to or want to be a victim. And of course they mostly say it to men.

Don't get me wrong I am sure some people do that but that doesn't mean that there is no longer the actual reality of someone being a victim whether they chose to be or not?

Imagine going to a man who was drafted in a war and being like "hey you choose to be a victim" when he was crying about what happened to him which was essentially sexist oppression.

All my life it seemed to me that a solid half of women have serious issues with assertiveness, pickiness, disgust, phobias, and indecisiveness. The memes of the gf who doesn't know where to eat but knows where they don't want to eat is an archetype that most men agree of is fairly common. Similarly, plenty of these women are afraid of many things, like spiders, driving, going out at night, calling someone on the telephone, reaching out to the waiter for an issue.... You sometimes wonder how they went through life and you realize that it's just that men are kind to them and they always have a boyfriend to save the day.

And frankly, why not? A lot of us are just average, and before we got money what we provide is just raw masculinity to compensate for their extreme femininity. In that way, a lot of us men here believe that the "emotional labor" is generally something men provide to women.

But somehow PPD women deny that this type of women is common at all. And they think we're being misogynistic for thinking they are common. They think that emotional labor is something women provide to men because men neglect their mental health.

Silly question about me and ex. We broke up in not the best of terms, both in the wrong. I want to reconcile or at least get closure and stay in friendly terms so I invited him to play chess. Surprisingly he accepted, and we played some rounds. We did not friend request or message eachother though. I didn’t bc I thought I did my part by initiating the interaction. Games were something we bonded over in our relationship. I figured it was fine he didn’t friend or message me, maybe he’s just not ready to talk. A few days later I get on again and invite him to play but this time he declines. I saw immediately after he was playing with a friend so I figured that was why. But then the next day he was playing with randos and again he declined my request to play multiple times. I’m very confused and bummed out now. Does he just think it’s immature? Just watched an interesting video essay on the rise and fall of Victoria’s Secret. As someone who was a teen in the early 2000s (when the only big underwear companies were VS, Frederick’s of Hollywood, and dowdy department store brands), it has been very cool to see female-led companies grow and for male-led complanies to move their designs from what men want to what women want.

There are still plenty of special occasion lingerie retailers (shein has some great stuff!), but it’s shocking that underwear companies took so long to even try to meet the needs of their average consumer.

Women have a huge advantage in their social lives simply for existing as a woman.

As a man, at both college parties and at clubs and bars, I have to pay full cover, pay for my own and women's drinks, need to wait a long time in line to get in, get rejected at the door for being a man and/or not having enough women in my group (what's the point of going into a club anyway if there were enough women in the group... one of the major points of going to the club is to get women in the first place). There are many clubs, bars or parties that average men are just shut out from because they have to wait too long, it's too expensive or they're not letting men in.

Women just have to not be fat and have basic makeup on to get in. They can get free drinks from men or from promoters. There are literally promoters outside of bars offering free drinks to get women in there. Some places are either free for women or charge a much lower cover (I don't know how they get away with this discrimination). A few places allow women to skip the line outright, and it's very common for women to skip the line through a very loose connection with a promoter, who wouldn't let men skip the line unless they're really tight with them. Women can exist and float into the cool/exclusive venues and meet socially connected/wealthy people or celebrities. Not everyone wants to do this but it would be a cool experience a few times to have and talk about later.

And this is all about just even getting into places to socialize at all. Both women and men are much socially warmer and receptive to women than men inside the actual places. You have to do so much more to be cool and confident to meet new people or branch out of your group.

Women have social privilege and easy social lives.

Guys need to accept the fact that they're not getting more attractive with age. If you missed out when you were in your teens and early twenties that sucks. However, there's no 30-something do over.

Guys are most attractive in their early to mid 20s -- just like women.

The best case scenario is that you age slower than the average woman and, therefore, slowly move up the ranks in your cohort. Guys who struggled dating women their own age in their 20's may struggle less dating women their own age in their 40's and 50's. That's as good as it's going to get.

How do you guys feel about the concept of "coerced consent"? As oxymoronic as it is, the typical example would be what allegedly happened with that Andrew Callaghan from Channel 5. He'd keep pestering a woman to have sex with him until she gave up on trying to reject him and slept with him.

It's not really rape of course, because the other party is free to leave and not sleep with him, but it's obviously shitty to not take no for an answer and keep trying to hook up with someone who rejected you.

But anyway, should it be a crime though? I don't see how that is a criminal act tbh. Immoral, sure, but not criminal IMO.

Would you ever take someone back who broke up with you citing incompatibillity?

Recently broke up with someone who I felt like was pulling away. Instead of facing it head-on by starting a conversation, my avoidant ass just ended things with him to preserve my ego. I told him we didn't seem compatible in our goals. He seemed to agree, but I wasn't sure if that was his ego talking or if he was truthful. Just a couple days prior he was trying to see me and was going to meet my friends.

I really want to avoid the dating app mentality of - oh, you can just find someone else. I really think it's important to work on what you have presently.

Is it worth it to go after him again - try to explain to him that I feel like our incompatibilities can be worked on? I know if I was in that position, I would have serious concerns about someone who rejected me rejecting me again. So I understand if there's nothing I can do in this case.
