There is a story of a woman getting assaulted on a train in Philadelphia. Although it was a terrible event that happened, I don’t think I would have intervened. Granted, I wouldn’t have recorded either.

For one, the perp was homeless and a lot of them are crazy and have nothing to lose, therefore your risk of dying or being seriously injured is much higher.

Two: it’s possible that people thought 2 homeless people were making whoopie, so of course they wouldn’t intervene. People have this image in their heads of a brutal assault happening in broad daylight whereas it could have looked like a strange sexual encounter.

Reddit foams at the mouth and starts with their “if I was there I would have karate chopped him and saved the victim” and “if it was me I would have saved her and scolded everyone on the train”. lol it’s so laughable and stupid.

I’m not putting my life on the line for a stranger, men aren’t human shields, and I’m not obligated to physically intervene in any dispute between men, a man and a woman, and disputes between women. Best I can do is call the cops as I walk in the opposite direction.

I grew up in poor white trailer trash half the time and the only white boy in the hood the other half of the time, I know what the fuck goes on there.

Nah what I'm saying is I want the government to do something about this (aka the police) and advocate for that because I understand a regular ass person has no actual power in these situations and shouldn't be expected to do something like put their lives in danger when they pay taxes for the government to protect it's citizens (and they use this money instead to extort their citizens and terrorize them). Situations like these are why I support police reform and I've never been victimized and wondered why absolute strangers didn't help me.

So you want my somewhat trained but not officially, wife to pull a gun on a random man in a subway with other people, on a situation she does not know the extent of?

Now this isn't even a possible scenario in Europe, and it varies in the US state by state but in my state, my wife would be guilty of a crime. As her life wasn't in immediate danger she would be guilty of brandishing a weapon. Lets say the guy rushes at her and she fires, at that point its a 50-50 (probably less because shes a woman) she get charged with murder/attempted murder/manslaughter.

So lets say she shoots and misses, which is extremely easy to do under the circumstances and hits the woman who was being potentially raped.

Now shes in real shit, her entire life is upside down for the next two years, and at best we're close to broke in legal fees at worst shes in prison and broke.

Your boyfriend yelling at a potential rapist and getting in his face is a perfect example of this.

Lets say the other guy didn't back down, and your boyfriend stabbed and killed him. Goodluck with that in court, he was the aggressor.

If she isn't confident with her weapon, she shouldn't have one.

You have lost a bit of credibility there. She's an excellent shot, she is a licensed CCW holder in the state with the most stringent testing in the US. You need to think more about what can go wrong.

If she doesn't have a clear shot, she shouldnt shoot.

A clear shot in a subway, at short range, with a moving target?

If he does not stop, and instead charges her, she will have a clear target.

Also unlike the movies, one bullet doesn't usually put someone down unless it hits something vital. Due to everything I laid out you don't do a 360 no scope head shot, you aim for the center of mass to be sure you hit SOMETHING and who knows what drugs the guy is on to start with. I've seen men in my training who were shot by 4-5 times and kept coming. They often died, but not for several minutes and they were able to fight for long enough to do harm, especially to someone smaller like a woman.

Let me tell you what I would want my wife and mother of my children to do.

Women are closing the gap - they remarry almost as often as divorced/widowed men do.

Then there's this from your source:

The gender gap has closed mainly among younger and middle-aged adults who are eligible to remarry. Divorced or widowed women ages 25 to 54 are now about as likely as men in that age range to have remarried. Among those ages 55 and older, the gap remains substantial.

This means only that widowed/divorced women 55 and over aren't remarrying as much. Younger women under age 54 remarry just as much as men do.

There's a ready explanation for why 55 and up senior women aren't remarrying - there aren't anywhere close to enough men their age who are even still alive, much less willing to remarry, much less willing to remarry THEM. (Being married killed most of the men their age.)

I was recommended this song from an anime by a friend.

Honestly I did not know what I was gonna think. But I listened to the song and my goodness.

This song was just...indescribable. The singing is gentle yet carries a lot of purpose and meaning in it, with a passion in the singer's voice that can only be described as fucking hypnotic. Every note sounds like absolute heaven; the slow tempo of the song makes it so that you have even longer to absorb every note and sound.

The instruments coalesce to make the best instrumental I've ever heard. No matter how many times I listen to it I still get the musical frisson washing over me and overtaking my entire body in an envelope of extreme pleasure.

I'm obviously being super dramatic here, but I don't think words can describe how this song makes me feel.

That's a viable issue to have.

I didn't reach out or reply to her texts and calls for 4-5 days.

Ties into "not treated like a girlfriend". My partner would get an earful if he dropped off the surface of the Earth without any explanation (which takes.. 2 seconds to write) for 5 days. If he didn't live close by I'd be calling local hospitals a few days in.

It communicates: you're not important, you're not worthy of an explanation. That's not how you treat partners. Unless you figuratively had to hold up your rifle as you were waiting to be saved from a pack of wolves surrounding you for 5 days, you did look at your phone at some point.

Because if she doesn't think she's being treated like a girlfriend, then she's being treated like a casual option. Then that kind of behavior is the type of behavior you'd expect to get from players doing hot n cold.

yeah I did not interpret challenging like you did. But there is significant overlap.

I thought of challenging the way I see my dad being challenged, the way I see people my dad's age complain about their wifes where they struggle with trying appease her, communicate, the women are quite stubborn, not willing to listen to reason, refuse to compromise, etc

Work can be challenging, it demands effort from you, it is not comforting. I think most guys would rather their partner err on the side of accepting them for who they are and let them sit in their comfort zone rather than push them to grow and become "better" as defined BY HER.

Lots of men are forced to aspire for a higher standard of living to make his wife satisfied, its not the person he wants to be but the person she wants him to be.

I think we hear so much about "beauty standards today" that we grow numb to it and don't realize how true it is

Like I saw a post that was talking about it and showed old paintings of queens and goddesses of beauty and the like, and photos of old beauty pageant contestants, miss America winners from the 60s and 70s, fashion models etc and to think, today if a woman looked like that she'd probably feel ashamed of herself and get called fat left and right.

Even from an entirely non political standpoint it's a fascinating social phenomenon, particularly in the sense of how rapidly it happened. It's obviously going to be closely tied to technology and rise of heavily edited images, but it would be interesting to see detailed analysis.

Say you have a co-worker and he wants to put you down for some reason. He asks you a lot of questions with the intention of making you look dumb and insecure.

To you it feels, and to outsiders it looks, as if he was a cop who is standing in front of you while you are sitting in the interrogation chair with a bright light shining in your face.

With self-esteem you could just be stitting there, unphased, and answer the questions with self-confidence. And draw boundaries and not answer some of the questions. Basically you'd show everybody that you win the interrogation.

If you control frame, the first thing you'd do is just stand up. You deny him his frame (having you in the interrogation chair) and establish your frame (both standing and talking on eye-level. Or you might even push him in the interrogation chair).

Those are two very different things.

Self esteem is valuing yourself as a human being and actually believing it (this usually requires some level of accomplishment).

Frame is the ability to maintain control of your emotions and react appropriately in stressful situations. In relationships it usually means refusing to play games and calling bluffs. For example, if your GF says something like "if that's the way you feel you should just go" you could 1) try to justify whatever it is that made her mad, 2) suck up to her and promise to do better, or 3) grab your stuff and walk toward the door. The correct response in #3. You don't try to justify -- she doesn't want to hear it. You don't apologize and promise to do better -- that's grossly unattractive. You hold firm. Nine out of ten times she'll be apologizing to you before you reach the door. That tenth time you need to just keep walking.

Id be happy to find someone to date, she just isn't it. There are some life goal and stage discrepancies that are too much to overcome. I've got a masters in engineering and about to finish my MBA and I'm ideally getting a close to 6fig job when i graduate (& while it lasts have a 6fig job right now, but its a long story & risky as hell). Ah yeah that’s totally fair, I can see why the two of you wouldn’t be the best fit. What are the mental health issues, if you don’t mind me asking?

I haven’t had sex with either. Guy 2 asked me out first, but then left for a month for work, so we just had our first date last night. Meanwhile I played a sport with and now have a handful of friends in common with Guy 1, so the attraction has been building for months now, but we only voiced it about 3 weeks ago. I think that highly depends on the class and the people involved.

Living with other people can be a pain and sometimes the headache of differences can make it not worth the effort. Also, depending on a romantic relationship to pay bills isn't a financially secure plan. People break up all of the time and people can be financially vindictive/abusive.

Depending on a boyfriend or girlfriend to pay rent only works until it doesn't. I've seen and heard more horror stories than success stories. And people are often left in a worse off situation than if they were single. Especially if their partners name wasn't on the lease or utilities and they decide to stop paying because their credit isn't on the line. People aren't reliable enough, especially in relationships that have less financial security in the way of legal obligations that marriage provides.

I mean I understand that scenario, but there will always be people who are happy with any size of boobs and happy with the average size of boobs just like with peepee size. I would say this is the majority of men and the majority of women. My ideal size is not less than 3 inches and not more than 8 inches, which is probably 90% of adult men. There will be big dick fetishists, which are rare. There will also be women who have slept with different size including big dicks, but the same can go for men getting to know other women’s bodies.

You’re making assumptions without knowing me. I prefer normal ones, which is what I originally said. If I had to pick between a very large and a small one, I would flip a coin. Dicks are functional, and after a certain point of either being too small or too big, it’s not very functional.

I also looked up the statistics. 16% of men have a size larger than 6.1 inches and 16% of men have a size smaller than 4.5 inches. This fits within my idea that at least 90% of men are within my personal preference. I think if a woman preferred +8 inches, she may be a size queen, which is her own issue.

I think it’s important to be mindful of people I sleep with.

This is just my experience. The men I know who sleep around exhibit these qualities. I think it’s a two part answer.

Men who sleep around and men who cheat sometimes go hand in hand in that they love the chase and the newness of a girl and can’t stick to one girl. The behavior is impulsive in general. A lot of it is based on validation.

Men who sleep around sometimes get high standards from being overconfident and tasting too many women. It desensitizes them and they wind up thinking they deserve the best kind out of the ones they’ve slept with.

I think this about women too though. It’s not gender specific.

Are the men complaining about height standards existing in a locale where they are seeking women who are from a taller ethnicity?

For example as a 5’7 African American woman I’m below average for the European white women but above average for Black and White women from the US.

Women's height standards and the 6ft+ requirement is mostly arbitrary in my view. Yes women prefer taller guys but your average 5'4" Becky can't tell the difference between 5'10" and 6'0. 6ft just has a nice handle. Being a millionaire feels like a different league to having $950k.

A friend of mine is from South Korea and the girls there have a version of 6/6/6 called 8/8/8. It's $80k a year job (KRW equivalent), drives an $80k car (insane car for having an 80k job), and is 180cm tall.

American and South Korean men have the same average height. How come Korean girls in Korea want 180cm (5'10.8") but women in America want 6ft (182.88cm)? It's a round number and you can filter people with it.

There's no rationality to it. One of the definitions of an attractive guy in modern society is that he's tall, so if you're a woman and you don't have a tall guy, it's as if you settled. Women grossly overestimate how many 6ft+ men exist because they walk past 5'10" guys and think they are 6ft, but then they impose a hard filter on OLD. All my male friends who are 5'10" or 5'11" just round up on apps.

Personally I have a height minimum of 5'6", I'll let 5'4" slide if I'm thirsty, but there are physical features I like that are near impossible to find on short girls (I looked up some anatomy papers to double-check...) I'm 6'2" fwiw

Some say it, but it’s more of a visual thing. I don’t think women like to boast about their standards because

1). They don’t want the backlash. Average women will be called out for their high standards, especially coming from the mouth of a low value woman. A 5 cannot ask for 6/6/6 and the internet will let them know. They’ll stick to PC talk. Women like to be delusional.

2). They know they’ll have to settle eventually. Women know 6/6/6 is unattainable but it doesn’t stop them from trying. It stops from boasting about it. They don’t want to publicly say their standards on Twitter then end up with a guy who is less.

Women have these standards in their 20’s because they can afford to be delusional. At 30 they somehow drop and they end up with their Match. Funny how that works.

I think you’re conflating too many things so it’s hard to make an argument.

Being used means one partner is gaining a lot more and the other partner is borderline unaware. An agreed FWB arrangement doesn’t work like that whereas a relationship created on false pretenses does fit the definition of being used.

I’m explaining how others might feel and I used the FWB example because it’s down below. I rarely feel used for sex, but I empathize with people who get used.

Also, it’s a lot riskier for women to have sex with men. It’s not really a mutual benefit. If it were a mutual benefit, women would act a lot differently.

Pick up game is not entirely useless and does have its place but a very limited one.

Human psyches are flawed and the purpose of pick up game is to exploit the loopholes which can work in very rare cases.

The problem lies in that pick up game has been tried in the past many times. Prehistoric men and women have seduced the opposite gender in order to get sex but before modern technology and medicine, only the strongest would survive... so if a man used pick up game to seduce a woman and managed to get sex and reproduce, then her children would probably die and not continue their lineage all the way to the modern era because her attraction to him was based on a loophole in her psyche that he exploited rather than being based on genetic quality.

With that being said, there would be very few women in the modern age that would fall for pick up game because evolution has proved that it is an ineffective mating strategy.

Essentially men would have to adopt new strategies and society has implemented punishments to men that would attempt to use said strategies and fail as a way to deter men from trying to exploit psychological loopholes.

You've got this whole thing twisted. Hunter-Gatherers weren't running "pickup game", they didn't know what it was, they were just acting naturally. It's been said before but "game" is it's own form of status, that's why it works. Hunter-gatherers were running in groups of like, what, a hundred people. You couldn't really use "game" to work people over because everybody knew each other, trying to use game on a girl wouldn't work because people knew who you were since you were a kid, and every body knew where they stood in the social hierarchy.

Game works in modern times because you can start over with every new person that you meet. You're not stuck to the same group of people that you grew up with, you can meet hundreds of new girls in a week and never run into the same one twice.

Game itself works because your behavior influences how people see you. When you see groups of people out at bars or parties or at the office it's not hard to see who is at the top of the hierarchy. The guys at the top rarely take shit from people below them and generally challenge or stand up to people who confront them. Whenever guys fight there's usually a social dialogue before they start swinging fists, one guy tries to talk the other to back down and either he does it or he stands his ground. A lot of alpha males fight other guys to stay at the top of the pile. Either way, how you interact with people is a very large indicator of who you are and where you stand against others in terms of status.

Game with regards to women works in the same way. Women will shit test you and challenge you to see where you stand in contrast to their own social standing. It's about socially dominating other people to see who outranks whom. How you respond and talk to women gives them an indication of whether or not you're below her or above her in status. This would've been our pre-historic way of displaying status, there were no bank accounts or jobs or cars. Your status was largely visible by your social behavior which would've been what triggered a woman's hypergamy. This is also why guys with good social skills back then would have been able to survive better than others, higher social rank would've meant a larger importance to the group which meant that people would've cared more for you if you were injured or if you needed some food.

I'm not sure what your definition of game is but my definition would be "an alternative mating strategy that is used if the man does not have good enough genes."

For instance a man can say that he only works out once a week when he actually works out 5 hours a day and takes steroids in order to convince people that he is athletically gifted or claim that he has never gone to a doctor or has never taken antibiotics to convince others that he has a strong immune system. A man can consume bacon and mayonnaise prior to going to a club or bar to convince others that he has a naturally strong tolerance for alcohol. These would be considered examples of game.

Another form of game would be like I mentioned, finding a loophole in a woman's psyche that is counterproductive to her mating success and exploiting it.

People don't realize the reality warping powers women have over socially inexperienced (and in love) men. From the outside it looks like you're just a doormat, I mean you are a doormat, but you have to understand the months and/or years of subtly buying into her logic and being gaslit that nestles your mind firmly in her worldview.

Been in that situation before. Her abuse was my mistreatment, her cheating was my neglect, etc... The worse she got the more anxious I got about how I was fucking everything up. It's really hard to explain to someone who hasn't gone through it, but the whole "men take care of women" instinct can be exploited like a bird caring for a cuckoo's egg or a caterpillar weaving a cocoon for the wasp larvae eating it. Advertising is really just maximizing the chances of a viewer becoming a potential customer of Company X. From the company's perspective, if they know that Person A is even just 1% more likely to become a customer if you feature someone like them in its commercials, why would the company not want to do that? They're paying money to advertise anyway, not like they'll have to pay extra to feature an ethnic person over a non-ethnic one. So if they can spend $$ to get a higher chance of converting Person A to a customer, why would the company not do that?

But if you're asking why Person A is more likely to buy from Company X because of the featuring of people like Person A in the ads? The answer is just that our brains are wired to feel good when we feel seen/acknowledged/included, and a company can provide this by featuring people who look like Person A in their ads.

The opposite of featuring minorities in ads isn't active rejection of the minorities btw. So I'm not claiming if Company X doesn't feature minorities that the company is ignoring minorities. It's just if Company X proactively includes minorities, the chances of getting minority customers is greater than if they don't (all other factors being equal).
