Anyone with half a brain recognizes that no one is entitled to anything, and that any intimate experience between people is earned after demonstrating value, but a lot of people's frustrations has to do with the fact that each gender has different values and desires that conflicts with the opposite gender's values and desires, and that some traits that make someone desirable are impossible or highly unlikely to obtain.

I think you are only partly on the right track. On an individual basis, many of the posters on PDD have indeed crossed a line and become entitled, and not just with respect to feeling that the universe owes them a partner, but one of a certain quality that may not be equivalent to what they bring to the table themselves. That kind of attitude is self-destructive.

But PPD posters are not a representative sample. If anything, they represent an extreme minority. When looking at the bigger picture, which has to do with the possibility that the monogamy paradigm is breaking down, and more people are ending up single or with very unhealthy and short-lived marriages, I do not think entitlement language is useful. This kind of phenomenon is bigger than such language.

Now, to be fair, it is hard to say exactly what is happening with respect to the genders going their own way, or whether any current trends we can identify will continue, and if so, how far. But we have seen enough to worry about the future with respect to monogamy and marriage. And when dealing with an issue this large, it is not entitled for someone to feel that society should be aiming to engender some type of equitable compact between the genders in general, as well as aiming to promote widespread long term pairings on an equitable basis.

Now, what 'equitable' means is complex, as one has to take into account our natures. If, as some argue for example, women truly do not find most men attractive, even after manipulating the culture as best we could to facilitate mutual attraction, then is it really 'equitable' or 'fair' to push for a return to 90%+ levels of monogamy that guarantee that many women would have to be with men they do not find attractive? These are tough questions. But I do not believe thinking about them in terms of entitlement, on this scale, is helpful.

Men saying they think it should not be this difficult to get a woman, doesn't necessarily mean they believe it is their right to have one.

The rest of us are trying to modernise gender roles. Many people say they want men to be a bit more gentle, but still perpetuate the empathy gap. If a woman is having a bit of a struggle in her love life, no one tells her she is over-entitled to think someone would want her. No one asks her if she is planning to legalise rape, as though that is the only way she would ever have sex. No one tells women any of the things that people say to incels.

What rights do we decide all humans deserve? The right to a life of dignity, right to fair trial, to be equal before the law, the right to gather, protest, to free speech... every right has a reason behind it.

Either it is stuff that is necessary for our quality of life to be at a basic threshold or it is something that we force society or govt to give every individual as a check or balance against the tyranny of the majority.

We want to ensure democracy or our chosen political organisation works, so we give these rights.

As technology progresses, as we become more capable in terms of our ability to create value, gather resources and distribute them. We raise that basic threshold and we try to ensure every human has a higher quality of life.

At one point food was not a right, even now in parts of the world some communities can't give every member food. In other parts of the world internet has become a right. It is a great equalizer and people without access to the internet will struggle to compete. So nutrition, shelter, protection from cruel arbitary punishment, all of these are stuff that is necessary to ensure equality of opportunity. Provide a level playing field so that the people on the top of status hierarchies reach there due to differences in talent, hard work, competence rather than inherited privileges.

Ok if you are with me so far, you will understand that what society decides is a right depends mostly on our capacity to deliver it. As we as a civilization grows we will give individuals more rights, as much as the social fabric can bear. We will distibute the spoils across all the members of the species.

The stuff that is too scarce to guarantee, we call a privilege. Travel, VR headsets, expensive education, healthcare? it varies from society to society. We argue over to what extent education and healthcare should be a right. Some people say it should be earned, bought with money and the burden of supplying everyone with free education and healthcare should not be carried by the whole of society.

Now your argument is that a lot of men in ppd are seeing women or relationships as a right rather than a privilge. I actually agree with you, I have observed the same thing.

But let me try to change your view that this mindset is wrong, toxic or insane.

See when we try to give food as a right, we set up food shelters, the govt procures grains and gives it for free. We set up systems in place to try and ensure no one starves. Is it perfect? no some people might fall through the cracks but we make an attempt, a honest attempt to give people food.

I think we can all agree this is a good approach regarding how a right is given. This is an example of a right we all agree humans deserve.

Now consider the right to friends. This gets tricky, because humans are not resources that can be "given" or distributed like food or water. Most of us think friends should be earned. That people who are lonely need to get themselves out of their situation themselves. What role does society have in this? Well in the same way as food, we can set up community centres, offer free therapy, incentivise people to be more social, have teachers pay attention to kids who seem to be loners, raise awareness about mental health issues.

The right to friends does not mean you force people to be friends. That is not friendship then. It just means that we try our best to ensure most people have a support structure to rely on. We can respect every individual's autonomy while also believing that friendship is a human right.

Great. So coming to women or men. Relationships, marriage or LTRs are similar, if you force it then that fundamentally changes the nature of the relationship. Family used to be the fundamental unit of society, now it is the individual. We had a lot of incentives in place to promote monogamy, shame of divorce, interdependecy due to specialization of skills, early marriages, etc. A lot of that has been thrown out. But we can still do a lot more to promote "the right to a relationship" without having to coerce humans.

My point here is that you have gone from "right to a women" means "forcing women to date me" without considering if it is possible to decrease the number of lonely men/women in moral ways. Moral here is subjective and dependent on your value system.

Let me offer some ideas, we can spread awareness about how women are also sexual beings like men so men have to do more to stay fit and that means gym, atheletics, grooming beards, haircut, dressing well etc.

We can do worker reform so that people have more free time to socialize, date, save more money to start a family, the govt could give finacial incentives to people who choose to partner up.

You could shame people who live life with a string of casual encounters, and respect and praise people who manage to make a long term relationship work.

I could go on but I hope you get the idea. I would argue it makes sense for both men and women to feel entitled to a relationship the same way we feel entitled to food, water, 4 day workdays or the internet.

You can disagree, but it is a valid and sane political stance to take.

When men complain that they can't get the type of relationship they want, they are told to improve themselves in order to be more attractive to women: "Go to the gym to get fit, lean and build muscle; focus on your career and work hard to get promoted; start a business or invest your money to build wealth. That's how you become deserving of the type of woman you want."

I don't see any entitlement there.

Meanwhile, when women complain that they can't get the type of relationship they want, they are told that it's entirely men's fault for not recognizing their value: "You're a queen; you just have to raise your standards and reject all those unworthy men; if he doesn't recognize you as the goddess you are, he's not worth your time; men are trash". Not a word about improving herself or putting in any effort, she's constantly told that she's perfectly deserving of the high-caliber man that she wants just as she is.

That sort of advice is far more likely to produce entitlement than what single men are told.

So why should women be entitled to men if men aren’t entitled to women? Do you think most women would be fine with being alone their whole lives? I don’t think so. This whole entitlement thing doesn’t really make sense because biologically we are hard wired to seek out a partner. It’s not about entitlement, men desire women, that’s not going to change and there’s nothing wrong with that. To think of it another way, in a world where everyone is perfectly monogamous (and straight) with 50% gender split, there would be one woman for every man. Point is, before feminism, every culture on Earth understood that men were entitled to a woman (and women were entitled to a man) and went out of their way to suffice this entitlement.

So that's the answer to your question. Men think they're entitled to a woman because it always has been a right until very recently, and they are cognizant that their rights have been stripped away recently.

Men just have an entitled mentality in general. In mostly all spaces. Socially, romantically name it. Imo men just have a “walk around like you own the place” charisma. Nothing wrong in being confident obvi. Idk if this is a hyper masculine thing but imo men just always feel entitled to everything and everyone.

Women aren't a right. They are property.

That being said, my main contention with male sexlessness is that it leads directly to men dropping out of productive society. Eventually you reach a point where the society can no longer function. It is usually taken over by a neighbor who isn't having that issue before that happens. There is always a portion of men who are sexless, no matter the times. You just can't have half your men be sexless.
