Having high standards as part of some abstract commitment to evening out the dating market would never work. People don't work that way. Women have high standards because they won't enjoy lowering them for casual sex, most of the time. It's not the same with men, so raising standards would be artificial.

What would work, and has worked before, is less casual sex all around. Everyone naturally has higher standards for commitment. And you choose to have less casual sex not for some abstract support of men in general, but because you know that excessive casual sex is bad for you.

If women could not get casual sex with HVM unless they could get commitment, then less would be fooled that they had a chance with HVM. They would have to look at men in their league more closely, or go without sex and relationships. Some would. But you would still see more average women considering more average men.

I think ultimately it would help yes. The problem nowadays, especially with dating apps, is that people just have way too many options and men are the ones doing most of the pursuing. If women have so many options, it’s because of men.

Unfortunately, men aren’t really concerned with that and think about sex first. So the guys that constantly DM girls and get sex through that won’t stop. The rich and tall high status dudes will continue to spend their money & have sex with a bunch of women. Successful men aren’t concerned with least successful men. And i am sure most men here will say it won’t change anything but really you have no way of knowing if it will or not. I think going back to a society that is less focused on hook up culture is ultimately the only way to fix modern dating issues… and men, just as women, take part in it.

So if you’re constantly getting choices to play—you think you can gamble higher. It happens in gambling too. If you’re constantly striking 5-7–why not hold out for an 8. You keep getting chances. And you’re not going bust anytime soon!

So it’s possible that if women felt like dating was a more exclusive thing—they may lower their standards or settle for an average guy.

My fear on this though, is that as long as everyone is miserable already—it really doesn’t matter. The only people finding happiness are unicorns. Average joes and janes are just treading water no matter what.

I have seen it work a few times in real life. A few men I've known who had zero luck online dating with "appeal to everyone profiles" finally gave up and got really specific about what they were looking for and interested in, both ended up in good relationships after doing that. (Both were on OKC though not hookup apps)

Women can tell when you don't care who you get and it makes them avoid you.

On the other hand, women should never be forced into relationships and marriages like in the patriarchic past. No it won't work. Women nowdays can live perfectly fine without men. Women can make money, have social network of friends. Women less dependant on sex and there is wide variety of quality sex toys. Women can create own family by using sperm bank and having babies. Societal pressure and shaming on single women is way less compare to previous times and women learned how to protect themselves from unsolicited opinions.

To have relationships men need to bring more value to make women happier in relationships compare to how they are doing now. Then women have incentive to have men. Yes, as long as you have other priorities that'll balance your success/failure of having these standards. Your standards were created by you to ensure you end up with a partner that will make you happy (and hopefully them happy) bc of whatever those standards were (having similar goals, values, etc.). You mentioned in your post that an example standard is "attractiveness." This is obviously completely okay - be with someone that you find attractive if it's important to you but remember to keep your other standards criteria in mind as well. Your standards may be considered "strict" to others but their opinions don't matter because they're not the ones with your standards. If they think it's strict, they can change their standards to be looser. Anyway, keep your standards at whatever level you desire, but also remember that humans are full of flaws.

Men already have extremely high standards in terms of women's attractiveness and feminine performance and a whole lot of cope as to why 10's should sleep with them even though most couples looks-match and money in exchange for attractiveness and youth is just literal gold-digging. And this is the backdrop to todays sexual decline. Most men take themselves out of the dating market by engaging in excessive attractiveness hypergamy.

Yea It would because it’s what I do, but I’m not the large majority of men. I don’t go after aesthetically challenged females or females that have an undesirable personality and lack of morals. Meaning I wouldn’t entertain fat chicks or loser women. I’m extremely attracted to well attractive girls but a women with goals, intellect, morals is my main criteria for dating especially since I’m not into plates or hook ups.

I've actually wondered this my self because women seem SO overvalued. Of course, only men (simps in particular) are to blame for that problem.

In theory, if everyone collectively decided to only date "across", I think things would be a lot better in the dating market. 10's would only date 10's, 7's would only date 7's, etc.

But we're in this shitty place we call the real world. This would require guys to act like they've seen a pair of boobs before and stop inflating women's egos beyond proportion via social media, dating apps, etc. and for women to bring their standards down to earth because 11's and 12's don't exist. All of this will obviously never happen because the average person (and consequently the vast majority) only think of themselves here and now and couldn't care any less about the bigger picture and how it could directly benefit them personally.

You can't change people's biological nature BUT I have thought there might be a golden ratio so to speak of men to women in a given population. There would have to be more women than men because men have to deal with such scarcity if it's 50/50 like it is here in the real world. But I wonder if you could isolate a population, what would that ratio have to be so that both men and women could have equal leverage in the dating market? Maybe it would have to be like 2-3 women for every 1 man. Or something like that. Idk. Just spit-balling here.

It would help but needs to start from the top (the most high value men). If men in the top 10% stop dating or hooking up with anyone in the bottom 90% that immediately eliminates most women's ideal prospects which will cause them to readjust their standards. Obviously the same would need to happen at each level but it would really change the dynamic if half the men were suddenly out of reach for half the women. There are some decent women still in that bottom half but since my standards suddenly increased I wouldn't notice them anymore :)

I'm not saying this would happen overnight but maybe take generations. Peoples standards evolve over time based on their options. If women always had less options their standards would go down, that is not the current reality so answers are biased on what people know from experience.

AFAIK, this is what ultimately happens? Sure, occasionally guys shotgun out of their league, but if you look at the whole society, we tend to segregate based on our "league".

Moreover, while Chads score more, ultimately every person who is above 3/10 in looks EVENTUALLY gets laid, gets in a relationship, and usually married/has kids etc.

Nearly everyone in the world, if they are even remotely human looking (nevermind attractive) ultimately get laid, usually with their equals. An average guy fucks about 5-7 women in his life, and only stops at that number because the 6-7th girl is his wife for life.

I don't think so, but since I'm always thinking in an economics kind of way.. perhaps if Men mass-adopted sex toys or sex robots that would, essentially increase the competition to Women and "devalue" p*ssy somewhat?
