I'm not making 90k but I've seen this case. Usually the answer is quite simply a combination of

Career in IT, Engineering or another male dominated field so they meet few women in their jobs.
Nerdy hobbies so they hardly meet any single women outside of the job either.
Nerdy social circle so every single one of their mates has the same problem except the one dude who doesn't, but who isn't going to introduce their female friends to their Magic the Gathering friends...
Average Looks so they get no matches on Tinder and the likes.

Like wtf is someone in that position going to do? Only option that I can see beyond working on their looks, which may not be possible, is to pick up different hobbies based on how many women do it ... And I don't know how successful that is since it's kinda creepy to pick up a hobby exclusively to pick up girls ...

Before he lost his friends they all told him "Dude, don't let her treat u like that" and he would always respond with excuses like "Yeah, I know, we are trying to change this behavior" or "Yeah sure, I'll call her out on it" so it's not like he doesn't know he's being treated like shit. He just accepted it lol.

So sure, you can find a girlfriend by being wealthy, it just doesn't mean she'll love or respect you for it, at that point you're basically a meal ticket.

This is the standard profile I've noticed from men who make good money but struggle with dating irl.

Many were gifted children most of the big "you will succeed at life" things came naturally to, like getting good grades, making it into and thriving at competitive schools, etc. They aren't used to struggling or failing at pretty much anything. Their lives are like a puzzle where everything would be perfect and complete if this one thing came as naturally to them as everything else. And that's dating.

To add insult to injury it's often the very people they looked down on their whole lives (the ones who didn't just get limits and needed it explained to them over and over) who are happily married and getting the things that now elude him with seemingly no effort.

Success of in itself means nothing. What people conflate is success with confidence. Men are conditioned to think that they can only behave confidently when they become successful. So when they gain success in the eyes of society, they give themselves permission to be confident.

But not everyone does. Many think even if they reach a certain milestone, they are still not good enough because there is someone better. So they work even harder and harder to achieve what society wants out of them. It's an endless treadmill of striving.

It's much easier to just give yourself permission to behave confidently without having to justify it.

If you aren’t very attractive or have something like autism that makes you misunderstand social cues, then even if someone had a successful career it doesn’t guarantee them dating success.

I had no idea how much salary my partner was making when I first saw his photo (from online, but before anyone asks, it was not traditional OLD, we met on deviantart). I knew it was probably not much as he told me he was a college student but I was still attracted to him. It’s not like I wouldn’t have been attracted to him suddenly if he told me he made less than like 50k a year. Our primal brains don’t know this. Money is a social construct. They just know if someone looks biologically fit.

There are plenty of guys in professions that are not known for extremely salaries that women get hot for. For example, firemen? Policemen? Auto mechanics? They don’t make nearly as much as a software dev or something and nowhere like 100k in a lot of cases but a lot of those guys are drowning in pussy.

If attraction was only or mostly based on money software devs and engineers should also be drowning in pussy, but a lot of them just aren’t. In fact some of those occupations computer nerds go into…a lot of guys and off here struggling with dating are in those professions.

Most men, with enough effort, self improvement and simple repetition, can get girls, but doing this requires them to get out of their comfort zone, accept that they have to change, nay, improve, and actually try to be dateable. This, sadly, requires effort, and a lot of men look at that effort as being too much, too hard, lacking in instant gratification (and therefore not appealing) or they think it won’t make a difference.

I would challenge your premise that $90k/yr is a good/impressive career. I know truck drivers, bartenders, waitresses, etc that make that much in HCOL areas. According to this source (https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/median-income-by-country) the median income in the US is about $70k. So it's above the median, but nothing earth shattering. Add in demographics and it's below average in a lot of cases. It would almost certainly be below average for a college educated white male in California, for example. Not very impressive. You really need >$500k income or >$10M net assets for your finances to make a difference in a dating market. Being able to afford a 1BR instead of a studio apartment isn't a big deal. Women who care about money want an SFH in a trendy neighborhood, vacation homes, penthouses, high end cars, etc. $90k/yr won't get you there.

Also keep in mind your source might include people like retirees living on social security, drug dealers with no taxable income, service workers who don't report all their tips, etc.

while money is nice and all, I want to be financially stable for MYSELF. I’ve had a proposal from a billionaire and I turned it down despite him actually being quite a good friend and not unattractive. The thing is, I have a vision for myself and my own life’s purpose that makes it hard to marry any guy (because most don’t want to follow a woman’s dreams) but make it especially difficult when the guy in question has so much more financial power than you that it would seem crazy to ask them to yield much for my career. When one person has so much more money, there’s somewhat of an expectation that their desires for where and how to live have more importance. And that makes total sense because they have the resources (and those resources may very well be dependent on living in a certain location/having a certain way of life). That power dynamics would ultimately result in me having to sacrifice my vision/purpose for a life of luxury. While some are super down for that. I’m not. At the end of the day, staying true to my values, having full agency, and fulfilling the purpose that gives my life meaning (rather than living a comfortable life as someone’s support character) is more important to me than any amount of money a romantic partner might make.

Ifs simply really. Your standards increase. Any dude fronting as if he'll happily date a 5-6/10 when he's got money is doing just that...fronting. When my career started taking off in 2019, I noticed a dramatic shift in my behavioural expectations of the women I spoke to. I've always been finicky about a woman's looks but when I started to enjoy success, I was actually judgemental about how women behaved too. Feminine and chaste were expected.

I find though, that having standards as a man is very off putting in today's dating market. Mainstream society spends so much time convincing young women that guys shouldn't expect anything from you in the courtship stage that it can be a turnoff when presented with a successful dude (who lacks the social proof and clout) telling you what he expects from a woman.

Somebody could have an objectively successful career and bank balance but still struggle with dating for a number of reasons.

Firstly there is a difference between being very well off and being truly rich- where by money is simply not an issue. In a day and age where women no longer rely on a man’s money for survival a low 6 figure salary is of course attractive-just no longer so attractive that it can completely compensate for everything else that might be lacking.

Having a lot of money in terms of dating only really works if it is also displayed and crucially comes with a level of status. An accountant or a construction worker might be making bank but a doctor or a pilot who might be making significantly less will instantly have more status and therefore dating cache for a certain type of woman. Until and unless a man reaches a level of wealth that is evident simply by spending a few minutes with him; status is key not the actual zeros in his bank account.

People with “low level” wealth are often some of the tightest people on the planet. Their frugal mentality is often how they have amassed there fortune in the first place. Having money in the realms of dating is only significant if you actually spend it on dating. A lot of wealthy people understandably don’t splash the cash because they don’t want women to only be attracted to them because of their money. However if their wealth is not actually on display they are just another average guy in the eyes of the women they are trying to attract.

There is probably a correlation between having a financially successful career and a lack of social skills. Many wealthy people work in fields that require an attention to detail, diligence and a obsessive work ethic. These are great traits for building your bank balance but not necessarily for fostering human interaction. Take a look at most of the world’s richest people. More often then not they are very socially awkward despite there excessive wealth, status and power. An Elon Musk might have a hundred kids and a string of model ex’s but this is because of his obscene level of wealth, power and status. If he was just a “normal rich guy” pulling in a 6 figure salary with the same personality traits he would likely struggle to find a date.

Although there is a cliche that most men would prefer to date a cute waitress rather than a plain Jane CEO there is still lots of data that men by and large date within their general socioeconomic group. As such their wealth becomes pretty irrelevant if the women they are pursuing are all surrounded by guys just a financially successful as they are.

Finally, “low level” wealthy men often have a completely distorted level of entitlement and expectation brought on by their bank balance. It’s somewhat analogous to plain Jane women thinking they deserve Prince Charming because they have so many men willing to sleep with them. If a wealthy man is aware that he sits near the top of the tree in terms of earnings within all of society he is automatically going to have certain expectations about the level of partner he can attract. Essentially many of these guys might be on the path to becoming millionaires but they have billionaire mentalities in terms of the type of women they think they deserve. Earning in excess of 90K a year is a cheat code in terms of dating…but only if you are still realistic about what that level of money( in isolation) will actually attract.

Not too many stop working after marriage, so a man's assets are less important, especially if most of his resources are already being used to pay his expenses. People are more likely to date within their class, so marriage probably won't bring an upgrade to a woman's lifestyle -- it will just mean more work as she'll now have a guy to clean up after.

$80k at 25 here. No gf or prospects. Spend most of my time working, 10+ hrs per day. Currently live at home to support parents financially. Work on my car or other errands on weekends. No real social life. Dating apps are useless but I don’t really go out. I would attribute not having a relationship to not spending effort on it and not being too social. I wouldn’t say money or job has much effect in my personal experience, but outside of my experience I believe it does. AMA
