Why do women think that only looks matters for them? Yes, ugly women too (although side note that it's a lot harder to be ugly as a woman than as a man) can develop the "confidence" to hit on hundreds of men while developing the "personality" to stay positive and bubbly despite getting rejected all the time and develop the "emotional intelligence" and "social skills" to know when a man actually wants something long term to find the few men who won't care about their looks.

This is much easier for ugly women than for ugly men because their success rate for everything is higher and they won't get rejected as much. They can easily get attractive men who give some positive responses and will part-way treat them like they are in a relationship even for a casual encounter and give them attention while the equivalent man will go through long stretches of no positive responses.

I see two developments/dynamics going on in mating in WEIRD (western, educated, industrialized, rich and democratic) countries. One increases the threshold for what a person must bring to the table in order to be an attractive relationship partner (1), while to other reduces what the average person brings to the table as a relationship partner (2).

(1) The reasons to "need" a committed long-term partner are increasingly removed. Everyone can earn their own living. Children can be supported by one parent+social security. Children can be adopted or had from donors. Social status is no longer tied to relationship status. Friends and short term mates provide most of what long term relationships can provide. Personal growth is increasingly transferred from partner-experiences/conversations to your therapist, self-help books, Ted Talks and workshops. No children/no partner lifestyles become more prevalent, resulting in more engaging social life past the age of 30: no need to settle down because there would be nothing else to do.

(2) People are becoming increasingly unattractive as partners. The population is becoming fatter but our perception of attractiveness doesn't update to that new normal. The population is becoming more individualistic, meaning less willingness to compromise or to give up own goals to have a relationship instead. Relationships are dropping in priority and therefore people don't want to be with others who are willing to break up if the relationship doesn't 100% align with personal goals. The population is becoming more divided along gender lines: men have less interest in getting into a relationship with women who regard them as the root of all evil, toxic by definition and forever required to make it up to women and change fundamentally. Women suffer from this in reverse, they don't see a reason to be with a man, if those are supposed to only make their life worse and be a limit to what they could achieve without a man at their side.

This overall reduction in attractiveness as partners goes to the point, that people regard their equals as not attractive enough to want to be with them anymore. So people strive for partners who are more desirable than they are, which is not going to work out, since there are more desirable people who will outcompete them for the target partners they want.

So what happens when the people you can get (desirability equals) are not attractive enough (2) AND you don't have outside forces pushing you towards still going into a relationship with them because that is overall better for a good life (1)?

-> People continue to enjoy the single life with friends and short term partners, while never giving up on the idea, that a partner (higher desirability than oneself) that would be worth it to go into a long term committed relationship with, is within reach.

The people who approach this with the notion of "just be yourself", "the right partner will come around when you least expect it", "you need to love yourself and have a fulfilling life of your own" (blue pill?) are the ones who believe in "beauty is subjective", therefore not realizing that the only partners they can get, are the ones they are not attracted to. Simultaneously this "build a life without a partner in mind" lifestyle is reducing their attractiveness to partners further and reduces their "need" for a relationship further.

The people who approach this with the notion of "if you want the partner of your dreams, you need to become more desirable yourself first" and "people have rather objective mate values on the dating market" (red pill?), do understand that their equals are not attractive enough so they must change themselves to be more desirable, like the partners they want to have. Part of that desirability is to make having a relationship more of a priority in one's life.

The issue is, that both pills are actually the feel-good pills. One gives you the illusion that you do not need to change to find that higher-desirability partner. The other gives you the illusion that you can change/you did change enough to now be equal to the partners you desire.

What is better? Having the illusion that you will eventually find/attract that partner that would be worthwhile for you to be in a relationship with (both pills), or the realization that there will be no partner attracted to you that you regard as worthwhile to entertain a relationship with?

This problem obviously does not affect everyone. Most affected are the low end of the desirability scale regarding relationship partner qualities. Highly desirable people bring a net-positive to the lives of most people as a relationnship partner. It only becomes a problem, when your equal is not worth it anymore.

It might be that the noob boost is presenting me with all the best profiles, but wow the quality of the guys and their profiles is unreal. Everyone has perfect hair, tux photo, dog photo, hiking/skiing/etc photo, all fit, and every pic is high quality. If you are a Chad but have a blurry photo, your profile actually looks like crap in comparison.

I saw in another thread that someone said something like "boys should be taught that being called creepy or receiving a no answer is better than not trying at all".

And that got me thinking. Is it really a good advice to give to young boys? I will preface this by saying that for adults it's a perfectly fine advice, but for boys not so sure yet. The problem I see is that school is pretty much where most social interactions happen and it's a "closed social environment" that you can't easily leave (you have to convince your parents to change schools) meaning that if you get some sort of reputation it's very hard to get rid of it.

At the same time I can understand the long term benefits of learning not to care, but understand the high chance of bullying if you are truly socially awkward in highschool and try this.

Ok one more thing I'm struggling with. I think it has alot to do with me consuming so much red pill for years.

I have a girlfriend 29 and honestly she has been great to me. She is feminine, loving, good family, same values and has probably been one of the best girlfreinds I have had...maybe not the most wholesome.

My problem is she definitely was a party girl. She actually made me a list of all the men she has slept with (12) but I don't believeit. She is from Brazil and has been to many carnivals. The list of drugs she has used is also much higher then mine.

I honestly believe she would be loyal and much of the reason I look past these red flags is because she is very close to her father, brother and mother. I have spent a reasonable amount of time with her sister and brother in law and they are also wonderful people.

So my only issue is her past. I know she slutted it up for a few years and we all know girls don't count the guys they slept with at party's or one might stands.

Is it possible that this past of parting won't come back to bite me in the future. Will her past of getting fucked by brazilian men who are the definition of Chad make her bad wife material.

I know that at 29 years old she will have a past but it does get under my skin sometimes.

Yes, men can also succumb to their emotions, but we correctly view this as weak and pathetic. A man who cannot override his emotions in favor of sticking to abstract principles (loyalty, dedication) is a failure.

Women will continue to believe they are/were right because of how they feel/felt and no amount of reasoning will ever change their mind. Some men say women have 0 accountability, and while I somewhat agree, it’s also that it’s hard for them to understand that their feelings don’t make them right.
