Regardless of what you think about this dude, he's proudly expressing this opinion, in public, in front of several other dudes who agree, and sharing it with an online audience which is also favorable to his views.

The idea that other people pushing back on this (for a variety of reasons) is evidence that men are "not supposed to have standards" in an insane, cherry-picking conclusion. Nothing in the age of the internet has unanimous approval.

Most "basic standards for dating" is being beautiful and having these 10 traits according to the video.

The cherry on top? The tweet is written by a man calling him unreasonable. Have whatever standards you want. I don't think his standards are unreasonable. I too wanted a partner who was curious about the world and who liked doing things outside of playing video games. Saying that writing books is a hobby comes off as a bit weird, and he should take his damn feet off the coffee table (was he raised in a barn?), but the clip was, overall, pretty inoffensive.

That being said, of course you're going to get people who have negative reactions. It's the Internet, people get wildly offended over the most innocuous things. I could make a video about how much I like pineapple pizza, and I'll have some pizza snobs in the comments screeching about my dogshit taste. I guarantee that if a relatively average-looking lady (regardless of whether she's wealthy or not) made the exact same video and said that she wanted a hot guy who had interests and hobbies, there would be a bunch of sweaty dorks in the comments going on about how she's mid and where does she get off asking for a hot guy, how she's probably super boring and isn't particularly intellectually curious herself, etc.

It's not like I disagree with your premise. Just to offer an alternative thought.

People have noticed, and done studies, on how boys play as the power rangers, the girls imagine they are princesses. The boys don't have a problem being Michaelangelo from tmnt, they don't need him to literally be them to enjoy pretending. 50 shades and twilight supposedly have cookie cutter girls any woman could see herself as.

To continue on with this idea, the women want to picture a fantasy that they can see themselves in. I've noticed many times when speaking with a woman(who's interested in me), it doesn't matter what we're talking about, it isn't about what we're talking about. Like I'm a nerd, so you can get me caught up in talking about space, or dinosaurs, or battle. Often I've become too engrossed in conversation to realize she wanted me to say something cheeky, not expound upon the topic.

I see it similarly here. You'll notice this about the women here, they cannot remove themselves from hypotheticals. So when you start listing qualifiers, she's taking it personally. "You can't count someone out because of that!" And even if it isn't her, she knows some woman is the one who'd fit into your spot. So she's fighting for the dream of that girl. "Don't bring up logistics! Stop over analyzing! Why are you looking into that?!"

They don't mind fantasizing about their imaginary guy. Cuz it's her fantasy. But your thought experiment becomes her thought experiment and "I don't want to date a girl who weighs more than me" or "who hasn't slept around." had implications about not just imaginary girls.

They want guys who just get it. Any guy who's thought about it isn't a fairy tale. It's a failure to find value in oneself even if they aren't the center of the universe.
