Doesn't the overall literature suggest that intelligence makes you more attractive until a certain threshold, and then more starts to make you drop off?

110 IQ beats 80. But a 140 guy is probably starting to become socially maladjusted in a world full of less intelligent people. Something like that.

Also, in the end, it isn't intelligence per se that moves the needle on attractiveness as much as what it tends to be correlated with, especially in today's world.

If some guy is socially adept, sporty and in touch with with his physicality, and then a girl finds out he has a genius IQ, she is likely more attracted to him than less IMO. (Though now possibly worried she could keep up with him.)

I'd actually argue that intelligence is a valuable trait to have in the context of dating. At its core, intelligence is the ability to learn and adapt. Women are attracted to success and competence; an intelligent man is better equipped to become the type of man that women want to date. They are more capable of taking actionable steps to improve themselves if they choose to.

Look at derek (moreplatesmoredates) on YT. Without a doubt one of the most intelligent people on the entire platform. Started off as a scrawny dude and over the course of the last 5-6 years he developed a top tier physique, became successful with women, built a widely successful youtube channel, a fitness supplement business, and owns his own TRT clinic. His intelligence enabled him to accomplish all of that and take actionable steps to become more attractive to women. Obviously there are different aspects of intelligence, like emotional intelligence.

It's social intelligence vs technical intelligence. I have a stem masters. I know a ton of very high level math I use at my double six figure job. I have tried to court so many women who ended up with guys who have like, service industry/dealing with people jobs where they are just head and shoulders above me social skills wise, despite me being like an order of magnitude more "intelligent" than them (if you define intelligence purely based on academic/career success, which I disagree with but seems to be the premise of this post).

I would define charm/social skills as the type of intelligence that matters, and it's not something we ever test for.

Honestly if I could redo life I would not put all my effort into studies like my parents drilled into me and been more balanced and focused on social skills way more. I think I would be way happier with 1/6 my salary doing something with less mental overhead and being more popular socially.

Jobs that are associated with intelligence typically are stereotyped as being sex negative. Programmers, Engineers, STEM majors in general have pretty well known stereotypes of them rarely having sex if at all.

And other intelligent jobs like doctors, CEO's and politicians are known for being manwhores.

The problem with STEM majors isn't their intelligence, it's lack of women around.

There's not enough women for an office romance, which all of the other 3 are known for doing, there's not enough women to get female friends and more female contact through them and there's not enough women to counterbalance the manosphere influence.

Like, these environments are so hyper male, that for example, these men see no problem with publicly being in favor of Andrew Tate's teachings. The doctor might be in agreement too, but he knows better then to let the nurses know that and have a boycott on his hands.

A bunch of STEM men do not appear to have that awareness. They don't get a backlash from women and men aren't checking them about it, so they really think that they can just have debates about these topics and that it shouldn't effect them since "it's just talking".

And that women are being "irrational", "illogical", "vengefull", "oppressing my freedom of speech", "thinking they are better then us" when they do actually respond negatively. And they aren't even connecting the women that are silently and subtlety trying to avoid them, to their behavior.

That's not intelligence, that's lack of social intelligence.

I'm pretty sure my ability to discuss a wide variety of issues intelligently, and in depth, is what turns a lot of women on. The last 3 women I've been with were all educated professionals with advanced graduate degrees, while I have no degree. They wouldn't date an unintelligent guy. This is why women mess up on their profiles, or search criteria, when they list specific levels of college completion. Try talking to the average person in these professions and it is readily apparent why they don't attract women. It's not because they are "too intelligent", but because they are often socially awkward or are single minded about their interests. Because believe me, the ones who don't have those tendencies but still work in STEM don't have any issues.

STEM degrees don't just attract intelligent people, they attract intelligent losers. They attract intelligent people that need to prove their intelligence. High IQ people are more likely to chase status or money if they're well rounded/reasonably attractive. Even within the fields you have people bailing out into consulting and management roles, or people in Biochem degrees going on to be doctors or even lawyers. If you went to university you know that the kids in engineering and real STEM (i.e. not biology, psychology, sociology) were uglier than the kids in business despite the fact that everyone was in the same SAT score range.
You didn't read the study and instead read a comment or article somewhere that linked the study, and then linked the study yourself as though you read it. The chart says that Child IQ at 8-9 years (which is already suspect because we know that you can 'increase' an IQ in early years, but ultimately by adulthood it just matches parent IQ) predicts less partners at 15-18 years old but more partners at 21-25 years old. Also note that your study says that people with 105-114 IQ have less sexual partners at 21-25 than they had at 18-21. Suspicious.

For age 15-18 there remained a modest negative association with IQ after covariate adjustment (B = -.09, se = .03, p<.01), reflecting a higher rate of partnerships amongst those of lower IQ. However, after age 18 there was a modest positive adjusted association with IQ

The study cited, I have to guess from the URL since you gave a broken link, is Men's facial masculinity predicts changes in their female partners' sexual interests across the ovulatory cycle, whereas men's intelligence does not - and the text does not mention IQ

Taking the actual contention, the one study that provides any evidence, and my own experiences I would say that what the New Zealand study shows seems right. That there is a larger accumulation of sexual partners among average and below average (though note NOT low IQ...if you had actually read the table) IQ people at a young, teenage age, and that higher IQ people are more successful a little later (20+). If the study were to look at the entire lifetime I'd imagine that high IQ people have less sexual partners past 28ish because they pair off into monogamous signal relationships at a much higher rate. All data shows that marriages are much, much more stable increasing with education level. salary is highly correlated with intelligence, and I have to imagine status even more so. Not as much in high school when it's just about Playing sports and physical attraction and maybe the one or two kids with money at an average public high school.

I think the biggest reason is female choice though. The 84% of people with an IQ below 115 don't really understand intelligence. They can't grasp, evaluate, or appreciate it. They only can recognize when it means that one monkey has things that another monkey doesn't have. So in high school this only occurs where IQ is paired with wealthy parents and those parents allow the kid to showcase wealth. However, when you're 20 and you're going to a good university, or when you're 24 and are making 60k when the classmates that didn't are making 30k, and your trajectory is much better as well, and when those things are now understood by the women who realize they can't pay for what they want, then these things get appreciated.

Socially adept includes everything from, hygiene, taste, to reading queues, being fun etc.

STEM jobs and intelligence, not a direct correlation, not even an indirect one. You can have an average IQ and be a programmer, or engineer. You’ll never be the one that is sought after, but you can sure be the “factory programmer” type, no creativity, flexibility, no real intelligence. I’ve been in tech industries long enough to know that the really smart/intelligent/creative/capable programmers or engineers are a rare breed. We pay them far above average market rates, offer other perks and benefits when we find one.

The only STEM to intelligence correlation is that it is rare to find a STEM too far below average IQ. Which doesn’t mean much considering 65% of the world population is between 85-115 IQ. You may not get that many STEM under 90 or even 95 IQ but the majority will be average or slightly above average.

The fact is, most STEM majors are just average people with a higher propensity to memorize (does not equate to intelligent).

For sure. No thought of STIs, no thought of risk of pregnancy, not able to judge risks and benefits etc.

And most important, often a lot more open to sex just for sex. In other words a lot more open and attractive for casual sex.

I think it’s important to specify which type of intelligence you’re referring to here. I tend to agree with the theory of multiple intelligences. It sounds like you’re talking about logical-mathematical intelligence, and to be perfectly honest with you, I don’t think it has as much impact on someone’s sex life as you might think.

The type of intelligence that does is interpersonal intelligence. This is essentially your social/emotional intelligence. It is important to note that being emotionally intelligent does not automatically mean that you’re personable and kind. Sometimes it does, but it also means that you can be manipulative—highlighting or even fabricating positive traits that commonly attract sexual partners. Perhaps even downplaying negative ones.

PUAs are people that develop just enough interpersonal intelligence to seduce women—though not enough to have them as LTRs.

Intelligence is a complicated topic and IQ is not a perfect measurement.

I think you're discounting emotional intelligence here. The intelligence to know intuitively when someone is attracted to you, for example.

IQ may inversely correlate with sex, but I argue that it's incorrect to presume that all forms of intelligence are detrimental from that information, as the IQ test is limited in its function.

Being intelligent gives you the potential (but not the guaranteed power) to read social situations, to read body language, to match other people's sense of humor, to provide interesting conversations, to toy with people's feelings and expectations, to tickle their brains, to show them how much potential you have to dominate your hierarchy ladder.

I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum within is friends group: very smart “nerdy” guys who fit the stereotype of someone who works with computers all day and doesn’t have a very successful dating life. Intelligence can be an asset when associated with status. Women like status. Ivy league guys get laid like crazy, as do high level business people like Wall Street guys. But intelligence on its own doesn't assist in sexual attraction.

Many women will only have relationships or sex with men whom they think are intelligent. It may be that being less intelligent correlates with having more sex, but to attract certain women, it will be necessary for a guy to be intelligent or those women aren't going to have sex with him. So, in cases like that, intelligence is a positive trait.

I'm going to disagree. Intelligence is a great trait to have. It hopefully keeps you from falling into the trap of wanting lots of ONS which are usually not emotionally gratifying, not memorable since most happen drunk, and can result STDs or pregnancy.

Trying to have lots of ONS is a bad strategy if you want to have lots of sex. The best strategy is to find a compatible partner.

That’s becuase there’s always opportunity cost and people who are highly intelligent/ successful often have to forego other attractive qualities.

There’s diminishing marginal returns to all attractive traits, let alone the something as hidden and subjective as intelligence.

All things equal, a more intelligent person will always be more attractive (unless ego protection kicks in) than an unintelligent person.

It’s even been proven in birds let alone more complex species such as humans

There are plenty of smart people who are very good at getting girls. You just notice the group that's not getting laid because that group stands out. People In it are very well aware of it.

If you're smart and not good at socializing with girls, you can become so, however, it takes a huge amount of time. It's all practice. In the beginning it seems so hard, something smart people are not used to. You have to stop thinking so much and just do. With enough practice, you have a mindset change and it becomes easy. It's just a realm that is alien the the analytical mind and usually avoided, however, the intelligent brain will master it, with enough effort. You do lose a lot of time that could be used more productively.

Do you have a studies showing a lower IQ results in more children/grandchildren than higher IQ and such lower IQ levels persist across such generations? The number of partners seems to be counterbalanced by other evolutionary advantages; otherwise, stupidity would be an evolutionary advantage, intelligence would stagnate, and the world’s economies would have long collapsed due to incompetence of the average worker and their inability to produce more.

The other men in this sub need to realize it’s net negative to bang a parade of women who are 2’s and 3’s just to “up your notch count” to brag to other men. There are massive downsides for interacting with low-quality women like lifelong STIs, baby-traps, and opportunity cost of say a singular quality 8+ woman who is potentially wife material.

Quality women aren’t at bars or clubs more than once a year. You’re not accomplishing any great feat by banging a new drunk chick every Friday just because you’re cheaper than her paying for an Uber home.

If you bang say 50 easy chicks in a year just because you figured out how, what happens when they talk among each other. Maybe you are actually amazing and at least one girl gets feels or jealously and actively sabotages your life. Idiot women with nothing better to do with their lives are capable of these things.

If you’re a guy rated 8+, you should not even be giving 2 or 3 level women more than a courtesy sidestep as you pursue the higher quality women who is as busy with life as you are, not wasting so much time on deadend fucking/relationships that are stealing from your future family. Each year you waste on terrible women is a year you lost not vetting a quality woman. The vetting process takes a long time if you are doing it right.

And if you already have a family, stop banging other chicks and pour all you can into your family. One day when you’re old it’ll be the only thing that matters, not 100 nights of drunk sex. Sex is actually pretty similar once you’ve gotten a fill of it.

I think people want to date others who are either at roughly the same level of intelligence, or slightly above or below it. I did read this somewhere (can't remember where) and I believe it to be fairly true. I do tend to think that men prefer to date women who have a lower intelligence level than themselves and vice versa.

I'm no Marie Curie, but I wouldn't be able to have sex with someone who I perceive to be an idiot. They don't have to be booksmart, but I need to be able to have an engaging conversation with them and they do need to be socially intelligent. And that's even if it was just a casual thing.

But also, many people with an extremely high IQ do not have good social skills. I think that could be the driver of that 2nd link you put there.

That being said, I ALSO don't know if I'd be all that interested in someone who operated on a a level far far above mine. I'd almost feel intimidated, I think. But I'm not sure. I think I've dated people on the past who were MUCH smarter than I am, but I think they were also humble about it.

There is nothing new about stupid people needing to fuck anything that moves and highly intelligent people being very picky or even aromantic and asexual. The data seems very mixed on this subject and there are a number of factors / variables which need to be considered/controlled for such as religion, gender, socioeconomic background, political affiliations, ethnic background, social skills, personality and more (note findings below that differ).

You’ve listed fields where people have high IQ’s on average but you haven’t established that their IQ is the casual factor for lack of sex. It could be people in those careers that have high IQ’s are more introverted or socially awkward or spend more time studying or are in more male dominated fields. Also those occupations while high earning aren’t seen as “sexy” compared to finance or banking.

If you looked at people with high IQ’s in fields like finance/banking, consulting, law and medicine other types of occupations where social skills, access to women and more extroversion is valued I wonder whether that would be the case.

I think you’d need to establish this concept more thoroughly rather than confirming your own bias.

When I think of ‘intelligent’ people, I picture lawyers, professors, writers, historians, artists - people with scholarly and emotional intelligence , ‘cultured’ people I suppose for lack of a better word
