The answer to your question is ultimately, you can never be 100% sure someone is not lying, so all you can really do at the end of the day is decide if they are telling the truth or not.

I agree that a very promiscuous woman might have it difficult to fully pair bond with only one man later in life, but there is no way of figuring out how many she has been with before.

It's never possible to know for sure, because women can easily lie about it and give a number lower than it actually is. Guys who want confirmation of a partner's n-count are out of luck.

But guys who care about n-count can still use it as a filtering tool, if a woman is relatively honest and admits to having a high n-count then that can be a dealbreaker for him.

Women are unlikely to exaggerate their n-count, if they do give a figure then treat it as a minimum, and proceed according to your values.

There are also possibly less reliable ways to estimate promiscuity and n-count, such as by looking at their social media, behavior, word of mouth if you have a lot of mutual acquaintances, etc.

Personally, it's worth the trouble for me. Seriously committing to a woman isn't worth it, so it's not the end of the world if one cheats or loses interest.

You never know the exact number, but you can just tell, absolutely.

Also, despite what people think, women don't tend to lie about their pasts, unless they feel like they are going to be shamed for it and ruin something they think it's genuinely good with a guy.

In my experience, women want to open up and be honest about their past experience more than men think, and sometimes more than women themselves would actually want to admit.

It's human nature. We all want to be loved for who we really are, and wether we like it or not, our pasts are a huge part of ourselves. It doesn't help neither that putting on a facade and pretend to be someone you are not it's psichologically speaking extremely draining, and more often than not does more harm than good. No woman wants to live like that.

Some women may come up clean early on, some of them may give you "hints", but they all give you some sort of clues about who they are. You just need to listen to them and pay attention.

Like, when you go out with her and she tells you "I've been in this place before, with an ex", or "I've done this with an ol' friend I used to be in "a situation" with...".

Also, women tend to talk about their past a lot, specially after sex, you know pillow talk, as a form of bringing up emotions and feelings in a natural way. Let her talk, let her open up first, let her put her emotions in the table. And when she does, never ask "how many", "how much" and stuff like that. Short answers, short questions, let her speak. Women love speaking about themselves. Don't judge her, just listen.

She will speak out.

The moment you give her some sort of commitment, stability or security, she's going to shut her past down.

The more you string her along, the more she'll talk, the more you'll find about her, the more time you have to figure out things.

After a few months you can just tell what kind of woman you are dating. If you still not convinced with her number, rund up a few more, never discount.

The low n-count girls will even flaunt their number early on as a way of saying "hey, look at me, I'm girlfriend material" and this is actually easily proven, the more you hang out with them you will realize she's being true, because you won't find even the tinniest details about their past. You won't catch her up on a lie, you won't run into an old ex or a FWB. Her friends will be just like her, you know, "relationship girls". That's easy.

The only problem I have here is if there’s a double standard. I think having generally similar sexual histories in relationships is a valid request. Like I had slept with 2 people before, my boyfriend had slept with 6. That’s fine. If he told me he had slept with 35, I would have been side eyeing a bit, just as a concern that we may be a bit different. Once you get older and get out in the world, you'll realize that most women have been having sex since their mid-teens and have learned to use sex as a tool to manipulate situations to get what they want. You can never really know for sure, you can only have reasonable guesses.

For example, I assume average looking women or better have no problem meeting men. In other words, they most likely do not have dry spells. If I met a 5+ looking woman and she tells me she’s been “single” for several years even though she’s on a dating app (I’ve come across this scenario on Tinder a lot), I assume she was fucking around those years.
