I personally don’t see anything wrong with the majority of age gap relationships. I haven’t been in an age gap relationship because I don’t see the appeal. But everyone knows Leo’s track record. The 19 year old he’s seeing knows what she’s getting into and I doubt she cares so I don’t care.

The only age gap relationships I can 100% say I’m against are ones we’re the older one is/was in a position of authority over the younger partner when the bond is formed. At the high school I went to one of the female students got married to a male teacher 2 months after graduation. I have a rich friend who wanted to get his gf to sign a prenup. He basically wanted to protect his assets cus he was gonna quit his job and live off the cash. After chatting a bit more I realized he didn’t understand divorce law or prenups at all.

The purpose of divorce law is to minimize the volatility in lifestyle for the two spouses before and after separation. You can’t just get a prenup that says “my ex gets nothing” or “my ex gets 100k a year.” Most judges will toss it. Whatever lifestyle he/she enjoyed in marriage, he/she will have a claim to, and whatever resources funded that lifestyle, he/she will have a claim to. So my buddy’s piggy bank could be attached if he used it to fund their marital lifestyle. If you own a company and the dividend or stock pays for your couple’s retreats, it can be attached. And so on.

Get a lawyer for your specific situation but rule of thumb: if you are not comfortable losing 50% of your assets, don’t get married. Your individual situation may vary, your spouse might have some income, you might have kids, etc etc, but please don’t get lost in the fairy tale that you can immunize all financial risk with prenups.

A fight happened in one of my coworkers’ classes today. I almost left my class to help break it up, but decided against it when I saw one of the male teachers striding down the hall towards the fight. Instead, I kept my students in my classroom and called security for more backup.

I’ve had fights in my class before and have intervened, but I don’t do it anymore. That’s the job of security and admin. But often times, male teachers put that aside and willingly intervene in fights. That may be due to unfair expectations or it may be personal choice. What are your thoughts on it?

Another airline question:

I prefer the window seat (so I can lean against the wall/look out the window) and my husband prefers the aisle seat (for shoulder room). When there are two seats on each side of the row, this is perfect. But these days, it’s typically three.

So, when choosing seats, we usually go for one aisle and one window in the same row, with a seat between us. We don’t talk too much on flights (I usually play computer games and he usually reads on his phone), but we do ask each other questions every so often. We don’t get into long or awkward conversations.

Most people are nice people and most people aren't capable of holding their own in a back and forth debate. So the manipulative person targets people that are super open, caring and empathetic. That coupled with the fact that manipulative people aren't lying when they paint themselves as the victim, (They're narcissistic and truly believe what they're saying) means they're able to manipulate the other person

That's an example of why having people in your life that's different to you is important and valuable. They'll be able to give a different perspective on a situation and help understand what you aren't seeing. Similarly people that are stubborn, hard headed and argumentative often don't have the most effective response to emotional situations that they aren't able to rationalize

That depends on what you mean by "masculine." I was never allowed to dress in an androgynous way even though I wanted to growing up. At some point I stopped fighting it and leaned into soft/feminine aesthetics.

"Women have careers and jobs too" is such a dumb cop-out when men still outearn women. This is especially the case with married couples. Not all jobs are created equal. Just because you're working doesn't mean you're contributing anywhere as much to finances as your partner is.

And the time* burden of children is highly exaggerated. The government watches your kids for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. And most kids can walk home themselves and be home alone by age 9 or 10.
