I've noticed that once a woman feels comfortable in a relationship, there is tendency (more or less accentuated depending on her personality, attachment style and emotional and mental health) to look elsewhere for excitement.

That is why men's mothers (at least when I was young) would warn them to maintain the excitement in the relationship and not make their girlfriends/wives too comfortable.

It is a totally natural, human thing.

To be honest, it does work the other way around too. If a man has a submissive, doormat of a wife at home, he is more likely to look elsewhere for excitement. On the other hand, emotional labile women tend to get men hooked to them in spite of their poor behaviour.

I don't think that life-long relationships are really "natural". It doesn't mean they're bad or you shouldn't strive for them, but it means that you have to put a lot of efforts in it and at times probably work against your biology and urges.

Women overall have lower libido, I guess after the initial stages of dating full of lust and great neuromediators, everything just returns to normal. For some this normal bar is extremely low, for some it's just right.

It often goes lower than normal though and it can be the result of resentment, relationship issues, a lack of romancing each other etc. Having small kids also adds to it.

So in the end it's a bit of everything. Most likely we aren't built to date for life, women have lower libido and all sorts of issues can lower it even further.

Two possibilities going on here. Often, men really let themselves go after a while in a relationship and completely stop courting their partner but still expect regular sex. For most women, there has to be at least some level of romance in a relationship in order to desire sex. When you first started dating, you wouldn’t have ignored her most of the day, sat on the couch, farted, yelled “what’s for dinner?” and expected to get laid later. Of course nobody is able to continue the “best behavior” of the first months of a relationship all the time forever, but there is a point when you’re actively turning your partner off and making them feel taken for granted. And yes, yes I know women do this too, but the question was why women lose desire for their male partners.

Another factor also can apply to both genders, but the stronger male libido makes them more prone to cheating vs losing interest in sex. This is the fact that full monogamy doesn’t come naturally to most humans. It seems that people tend to naturally pair up for a few years, perhaps because this is long enough to have a baby or two and for them to grow out of the infant stage. Then biology starts nudging us to move along. Now I don’t think “mUh BiOLogY” makes it impossible for men or women to have healthy long-term relationships. It’s definitely possible, and some people are quite monogamous for the long haul. This just can be a factor, because we aren’t swans.

So it generally takes a bit of effort over time to maintain attraction in relationships, and usually much LESS effort is put in, so it’s no surprise it tends to die. And this is not in any way exclusive to women, if you look at r/deadbedrooms you’ll see just as many women saying their husbands don’t want to fuck them.

I think it's our cultural misunderstanding of what women want. Both sides have this wrong. Women don't like soft men, but we teach men to soften up for their woman. Well us humans were evolved in small tribes since forever. Women held the group and mostly were near the village, and they maintained a social structure where everybody is up to the elbow in each others business with continual power shifts and drama as you would expect and see in remote villages today, but worse since there was no other villages close and we all slept in large multi-family single space rooms.

As for us men we had our standard hierarchy as you see in sports, and we had an excuse to get the f**k away from the village and hunt some meat or any reason, which removed the pressure to develop better social skills, and did wonders for the physical and orientation skills with a sprinkle of idiotic daredevilry. Most of the guys never had any dangerous arenas in which to challenge themselves and become more aggressive and confident.

Around 150 years ago we started having multiple rooms and heating, and people stopped having sex in front of their children and parents, so privacy and alone time are recent inventions.

As for monogamy, our genitals are smaller than chimpanzees and bonobos, which copulate for any reason with anyone in the group, but much larger than gorillas or other socially stable and monogamic communities.

In the end, we are made to be somewhat monogamish and having privacy without danger or drama is the sure way to get some of those mental issues.

So how would a female monkey who is honed by evolution for never ending power play and drama, specialized for targeting the best male and taming him, feel trapped in a silent comfortable room with a risk averse tame monkey all the time?

I have noticed two things.

One, women need emotional polarity/tension to feel attraction towards their partner. Nice guys kill all emotional tension. They want everything to be predictable. Bad boys, create emotional tension just by living their lives and being caught up in their own drama and BS. Go read a romance novel. See, women go through something every month called ovulation. A typical woman has an average of 9 hours in a month when she can get pregnant. However, the way our biology works, women are evolutionary repulsed by anything that reminds them of family, for the reason that inbreeding creates retarded and sick children. So a woman will instinctually avoid anyone who reminds her of her brothers or father or other family members.

Well guess what? Both hubby that she's been with for many years who smells, looks and behaves familiar like a brother and the nice guy who has behaved like her brother for years although secretly crushing on her, fall into the category of "close family member=retarded children". On the other hand, the familiar man/the brother like guy, still has some utility. When ovulation passes, a woman looks at a guy like this and concludes that because he is like family, he will help raise her child. He will be a good provider, thus hubby/boyfriend material. He feels safe, smells familiar, looks familiar and behaves familiar.

It's not about beta or alpha or familiarity. So much of these red pill philosophies ignore the common principles of attraction because it involves solving your insecurities and being more emotionally stable.

The short answer is neediness. It's not that you're "familiar" it's that you're not letting these women breathe. Women want time to process their feelings apart from men they are getting to know. A man's willingness to give space and desire for his own space creates a healthy amount of tension and a healthy amount of time to process emotions.

This isn't red pill/blue pill or alpha/beta. This is about your level of security and need for validation. Women truly would love a man that's there for her when she needs him but one who also prioritizes himself and his time and knows when to give space. So many guys hate hearing this because they hate admitting how much they blow up their love interests phone and constantly seek validation from their partners. It's not an easy fix but it's a life changing one, be less dependent on their validation and less available to others than you are to yourself in general, and this problem will "magically go away."

Perhaps they only got with their partner due to lust and didn't build a good relationship foundation for ongoing attraction, their tastes have changed, changing hormones due to a variety of reasons mean they can't feel attraction like they used to, their partner got complacent and stopped putting in the effort they did or whatever other reasons. It all depends on the individual couple, and there's usually a solution to be found if both people are willing.

It's easy to lose the affection of a woman (hand-in-hand with attraction) if she thinks you're not putting in the same effort that she is. It doesn't matter if that's regarding career, your relationship, housekeeping duties, childcare/interaction - any aspect of life, really.

Unfortunately, a lot of men fail in at least one of these categories or, at the very least, appear to fail. This is why having good communication skills and actually connecting with your partner on a deeper level is extremely important.

Conversely, if you do well at being a partner, the attraction and affection levels increase.

People get bored of eating the same food every day, wearing the same clothes every week and visiting the same places every year. I bet this is one of the reasons why there is a whole legal, economic and social structure just to ensure long term monogamy, otherwise people would be engaging in serial monogamy or fucking other people on the side even if only once or twice a year. If you are talking about relationships and the reason why women lose interest in sex in those more than man, I'm not sure. A psychologist explained to me that when people try to control their own behavior the need to engage in that behavior actually increases, which explains why diets are so hard to follow. Sometimes not only the need for the behavior increases, but the circumstances under which the need increases become more extreme. Women actively avoid sex with men they are attracted to out of fear of looking bad, being used and God knows why else, so you'd also expect that their need for variety also increases more than men's does.

I believe that women are wired to become dissatisfied with their partner over time. Women are, for the most part, serial monogamists. (Humans are behaviorally flexible, so there are exceptions in some cultures.) In prehistoric times, it did not benefit a woman or her children to be loyal to a man as he became sick, old, or injured. She might nurse him back to health for a while, but if it goes on too long, forget it. Plus, many times her partner would die in a hunting accident or warfare, so it behooved her to be on the lookout for other options at all times.

It's a pretty human thing, tbh - comfort & familiarity are the death of attraction for many people. I assume it's so our species has more genetic variety in kids, tbh. I read once we wouldn't be here as a species if some women didn't have kids by more than one father because there wouldn't have been enough genetic variety for us to survive.

Women apparently get bored with monogamy sooner - I think this is because men, since sex is generally less accessible to them, will take what they can get. Women simply have more options.

I like sex exciting & animalistic & rough; a lot of guys are more vanilla, because penis in vagina feels good to them, whereas I need more to feel excited. And it's irritating that I can do things I don't necessarily love to please them, but they don't give that same effort back to me.

It doesn't help a lot of guys get lazy in LTRs - I still shave and maintain long hair and put on lingerie and sexy makeup sometimes and give head every time I have sex with him, he's there barely giving me foreplay, never switching it up in the bedroom, satisfied with just pumping for a few minutes until he comes. I've known many women who end up feeling the same way. If sex feels like something only he's enjoying - like he's using you the way he would a Fleshlight - why wouldn't a woman get tired of it?

Because most women have no understanding of their own excitement and attraction.

Instead they think that because the "fire works" are gone, the relationship isn't worth it anymore.

This need to end something simply based on how they feel in the moment is exactly why most cultures of men decided its best that women don't make the decisions

Well I think this might be the opposite. If a woman succeeds to settle down with bad boy alpha Chad, she subconsciously starts the process of conditioning the guy to become submissive nice teddy bear. When he resists the brainwash and keeps being rebellious, there's drama and fights. When he obligates, she loses attraction to him
