now imagine another two siblings: this time the girl is short, has thunder thighs, a fat ass and bamby brown eyes. She is still seen as beautiful by many, men and women alike, despite not looking anywhere near like a model. Her stocky short brother is seen as "meh" by women.

I think there is a general, universal attractive... That's undeniable. However, there's the general model-esque beauty, and then it can refine into the more specific niche beauty.

For instance as a guy my ideal woman has red hair, 5ft, petite, athletic, B, boobs, thick hair, smooth skin, etc etc... Okay. That's ideal niche, but she would still be considered hot by most people, but just extra hot by my specific taste. However at the same time, I wouldn't say no to a hot 6ft brunet with D tits. That's more of a universal hot.

If you took the percentage of women that are attractive to at least 10% of men, It would be pretty damn close to 100% of women.

That's what meaningfully diverse tastes actually look like. If you did the same with women, I don't think it would be anywhere near 100%.

You could get more granular obviously, but I don't think it's necessary.

There is a woman here literally claiming resolutely that blonde men are unattractive. I'm not even blonde, but even I can see how insane that statement sounds. Even sadder still you can see from their post history that said poster is littered with a bunch of issues and seems to be incapable of having lasting relationships with the opposite sex.

I think this is my issue with a certain subsection of women, and many of them tend to post religiously on sites like these. They're just...sad. Like really pathetic. They're the equivalent of dudes who try to neg attractive women or feel bitter about the attention conventionally pretty women receive. Yes, just like being thin, pretty, facially symmetrical, young and nubile puts you at an advantage, so does being tall, muscular, masculine and successful out you at an advantage with women. Why so many seek to deny this boggles the mind.

Couples in Walmart are often poor and working class, a demographic among who marriage rates are falling off of a cliff. Go now to any college, urban centre or swanky restaurant and see what half decent men and women and their partners look like. Speaking about couples in Walmart is like basing financial habits on people who come in your local credit union.

Men are held to narrower beauty standards (I.E tall, symmetrical Eurocentric features, good skin, functionally athletic etc). The further a man deviates from them, the harder dating will be.

Nobody should say women are all attracted to the same men, but the sticking point is that most women have a very narrow range of men they find attractive, while most men have a wider range.

This isn’t a bad thing, it isn’t a value statement, it’s just reality. Online dating has only exacerbated this since women are like 30% of users with tons more likes, and so naturally assume a more picky disposition. Which is why I say the more a man deviates from male beauty standards, the less appeal he’ll have to most women.

EDIT: to clarify the second paragraph, women do not all like the same men. Women like vastly different types of men, but the proportion of men a given woman will find attractive will almost always be smaller than men. There will, of course, be overlap between a lot of women, because popular things tend to be popular for a reason. Socialization, dating strategies and men just being hornballs also adds to this dynamic.

I think women's tastes in men are pretty uniform all things considered, certainly more uniform than men's. The easiest way to prove this is inversion. The following items are tolerated if the man compensates in other ways, but next to zero women explicitly prefer them:

short
bald(ing)
round face
weak jaw
narrow shoulders
wide hips
high voice
small penis
fatness
wispy beards

Women's different tastes are mostly limited to style and aesthethics, not the very core aspects of human bodies. A great example would be women who claim to like "feminine" men but it's still a tall, angular faced guy who just happens to be clean shaven, fully haired and young-ish.

female attraction is a odd thing. ive had plenty of women come on to me out of the blue my whole life, teen years up in to my 50’s and i’ve been turned down by plenty of girls too. that brought me to the conclusion long ago there is no formula.

i’ve had that conversation with my ex wife and current girlfriend, ive ask them if a certain guy is attractive and they said no and it always surprised me because i thought they were a good looking guy. looks hook of both them with me though, before i even opened my mouth to talk to them.

It's not that all women are attracted to the same type of attractiveness

It's that the traits that most (not all!) women find attractive are similar.

Like: tall guy > average guy > short guy

Guy with masculine (sharper features) > guy with softer but still masculine features > effeminate guy

Guy with a V-shaped silhouette and toned muscles (not a 650 pound bodybuilder) > skinny guy > fat guy

Guy with thick hair > guy with moderate hair > bald guy (especially at a young age)

Again, it's not that ALL women on the planet are attracted to one specific man, but that there are a certain number of things that are more attractive than others. And women here also deny it, just as they previously denied even more that they like attractive men.

I think there is a grain of truth to it, but we are talking about exceptions here. That okay, all women dont like tall hand handsome rich men with big dicks. Lets say someone has a thing for short ugly poor men with little dicks. How common is that?

And even then this is a super charitable take. Make a tinder profile with the above mentioned ugly characteristics and see how many matches that man will get :D The answer is 0 so where are all those niche seeking women there?

Yes, different women are attracted to different things. No, the variety of attractive qualities isn't so broad that there isn't a set of qualities that the majority of women find attractive or unattractive, especially in terms of physical appearance.

Women are not a monolith, but they do have group tendencies and patterns.

Yes, very true. My friends are all very attracted to their own boyfriends, yet none of us think of the other people’s boyfriends as attractive and they all look different. One black chubby guy, one bald guy, one super tall skinny blonde guy etc. If we were all attracted to the same men, then well we could admit that we think the other people chose partners whose looks we like but alas we do not. But yes, I believe there are fewer women who no one is attracted to than men no one is attracted to but it probably has more to do with male biology than anything. Gay men famously are also fond of a larger variety of men than women are.

Many women wanna convince themselves so much that they can maintain an attractive man, that they will often lie to themselves.

The women just convince themselves that they are more than hookups, and there is little a man can do to convince them otherwise.

In my 20s, I had to make 2 of my hookups to meet in order to make them recognize that I was not a "cheater". We never had a relationship. And even then they continued calling me a cheater and a liar. Even when I often said "We are not a thing" or "I am not in a relationship" or actively hitting on other women in front of them.

Now imagine a more normal man, who does not consistently make an effort to make it abundantly clear that they are not lovers.

This is why women do not recognize that they are sharing their so called "lover" with 5+ other women. It is not that they are being lied to, it is that none can convince them that they are lying to themselves.

Well, the issue here is, people tend to ignore that sexuality has the biggest impact on what kinds of men women find attractive. And most women aren't honest about their actual sexuality so that muddies things.

The fact is, women who are into both sexes tend to be into the Timothy Chalamet/Harry Styles/Prince type. And women who are 100% hetero (for real), tend to be more into the James Bond/Jason Mamoa/Jason Statham type.

If "attractive" is different for everyone, then everyone is attractive (to somebody). and that means nobody is attractive. Attraction is comparative - like most other characteristics. Like, if everyone is slim - no one is slim. Slim means "you're slim compared to most people".

So, attractive means "you're attractive compared to most people".

Heck, we all know that tall guys are more attractive than short guys, and lean guys are more attractive than fat guys.

Attraction is universal.

Once you are conventionally attractive - then there are individual preferences, like one girl prefers attractive punks, while other one prefers attractive nerds.

But both types have much in common, in terms of "baseline" / "conventional" attractiveness. They just dress differently.

When I say a man is attractive, it can mean one of four things:

He is attractive to me, personally, beyond a shadow of a doubt, and is probably attractive to everyone else, too. (eg. Henry Cavill)
He is attractive to me, personally, but I think his attractiveness is subjective.
He is not attractive to me but is objectively (IMO) good-looking. (eg. Channing Tatum)
IMO, he is esthetically pleasing, just not drop dead gorgeous, and most people would say he's attractive. I don't feel sexually attracted to him on first glance and don't care to or need to evaluate beyond that.

My biggest pet peeve is that people think I'm flattering someone or lying to myself about either 3 or 4.

Literally had a friend who didn't believe me about why I initially wasn't going to date my now fiancé. At the time, I was friends with his grandparents and thought they'd be weirded out because I'm older than he is. It turns out they are his step-grandparents, his stepdad is younger than his mom, and they are fairly young to be grandparents. This friend thought that refusing to consider him romantically at the time meant I found him unattractive. I simply did not want to think about him in that way, at the time. Dumbass. 🙄

I swear, living authentically and saying what I mean in a society where hiding your true feelings and fibbing constantly is normalized really does a number on my brain.

Yes, many men make silly extreme statements. Many women make similarly extreme statements about how unique everybody's tastes are.

It is true that knowing you are being judged so much by appearance is a shock to the system. Men were sorta in denial before, plus the weighting of male appearance among female mate choice criteria has gone up. I sorta get the women who are like 'So now you know how it feels!'. But men are also upset that it feels like women didn't just reweight their criteria to be more like men's; instead they just upped appearance requirements while keeping all the old ones.

Well, individual preferences decide "which one of these X% of attractive men is attractive to me". Certainly, it won't me the same. If you're outside of this group; it doesn't matter. Most women won't say "90% of men are somehow attractive, except complete bums and slobs".
