Hot Take Thought: Women are not giving men contradictory advice and incentives; rather, they are delivering two coherent messages meant for two sets of men.

Essentially, we misunderstand the whole 'Women say they want more emotional, supportive men but then fuck the bad boy Alphas' as a seeming contradiction. But perhaps what women are telling men unconsciously is: know your lane, and then take the appropriate advice.

I don't like the terms, but I will use them very roughly here. Basically, the hypothesis is that women intuitively know that no amount of acting Alpha is going to make 95% of Beta's attractive as an Alpha. Those Betas alphaing up a bit just make them more annoying and less useful. So the 'be more open with your emotions, be less toxically masculine, etc.' advice makes sense. The female message is basically: 'You are a Beta, which is not horrible. It just is what it is. We are going to interact with you as a Beta no matter what you do, so you might as well be a better Beta than be a shitty, faux-Alpha Beta. This will be better for both of us.'

Meanwhile, women know the true Alpha's aren't listening to their advice anyways; but if they were, they'd instinctively know it wasn't mean for them. They can continue to find their own kind and reinforce more classic masculine behavior amongst themselves. And there is no real perverse of contradictory sexual incentive, either. Women are rewarding Alphas with more sexual success because they are born Alpha and manged to stay that way. They are not rewarding natural Betas who pretend to be Alphas with more sexual success--in fact, Betas who become better Betas do better.

I agree that learning how to be good at sex is not easy for some people. Some men just have awkward body movements to begin with and that’s not going to change easily just because they’re having sex.

I had a really negative emotional experience yesterday, usually this shit would occupy my mind for a couple of days and scar the hell out of me however...

Currently I'm on antidepressants which raise my serotonin to normal levels, and I can manage my emotions like a normal grown up man so I was more like "well this sucks".

And this opens up a whole new perspective for me because so far my behavior was very much formed around preventing myself from getting hurt and adding to my anxiety. This kind of life wasn't really living, I guess I was just waiting to dying of old age.

CMV: Closure is a complete myth. It's used as a tool to emotionally hold onto the relationship when you should be focusing on yourself and moving on. It's opening old wounds for no good reason.

You'll never fully understand why they broke up with you (or their mindset behind the actions that led you to break up with them), you'll never get true closure and having a relationship debrief session leads to nothing but more questions.

Of course there are exceptions -If you live together or have kids then of course you need to have follow up chats. But I see so many people who have been in a relationship for a few months or a year and talking about needing closure...It does not exist. You either want to get the relationship back, want to understand something that you will never understand or you're still emotionally dependent.

You know what a closure talk means? Having a second breakup.

I’ve been thinking a lot and I realised I only really have a few basic standards for marriage: I must be in love with them, I must find them attractive, I must feel comfortable with them, I must be compatible with them, we must have a similar outlook on a future life and family plans, and above all, I must be able to see myself living with them forever.

This does not exclude or preclude anything based on N count, age, career, height, looks etc.

If a woman with an N count of 200 manages to elicit these feelings from me, I’d be willing to marry her. Of course it’s a big If. But the way I see myself now and looking at my life, I don’t think I’d ever automatically reject someone purely on the basis of the N count or on their age.

Ugh, had early dinner with some of my college girlfriends and my partner. They didn’t like him much when we were dating but it was all because of his politics so I said whatever. But Jesus Christ, it was the most awkward 1.5hrs of my life so far.
