FDS is more similar to MGTOW, than TRP. TRP although highly flawed, at least attempts to figure out what women want in a man then figure out how to become that type of man. MGTOW and FDS pretty much tell their user base to never change for the opposite gender at all. If women weren't able to be successful dating by being passive, they would probably just completely disavow men to be exactly equivalent to MGTOW.

They are natural counterparts because both of them have an adverserial view of the opposite gender and don't seem to take a collaborative approach. TRP seems to be a bigger offender in terms of explicitly operating in bad faith, but both are undesirable. I wouldn't want to date a FDS woman or (if I were a woman) a TRP man.

I don't really feel like these 3 groups are like each other much but I read such horrible things about FDS all over reddit and really when I saw it it was underwhelming. To be fair maybe I missed something but to me it seems a bit tongue in cheek, like a reaction of people who saw too much of TRP and feel understandably antagonistic although a bit disconnected from real life

Sort of the type of stuff you need to say to a friend who is a bit dumb and on her way of being a doormat so you need to shake her up using very simple messages... plus you also want to piss off some guys who annoy you. And that's what you get.

If FDS is the balance to TRP, then that's an insult to women. TRP is all about self improvement and becoming the man that's desirable to women. Working on yourself is the absolute imperative. The closest thing FDS has to self improvement is vision boards. Literally. The entire sub is pure misandry and neurotic rants.

I lurk FDS to recognize what i don't want and learn how to avoid it. I have browsed some TRP just to understand how bad it can go wrong, and make sure I don't act like any of those guys. Haven't been on a date in a year, and life is pretty dope just stacking cash and pursuing my interests.

The end goal of both subs is similar: have a more fulfilling dating life.

The way each sub attempts to reach seems very different, but I'd argue simply saying TRP is more focused on self-improvement while FDS isn't focused on self-improvement (like many commenters have stated) is a bad take. They're both focused on self-improvement, it's just the methods of self-improvement look completely different because the state of the dating market.

Let's assume two things about the marketplace: 1. that men are generally the pursuers, or "sellers", and that women generally are the selectors, or "buyers"; 2. there's way more sellers than there are buyers, giving buyers a plethora of choices.

This would mean that "self-improvement" for sellers = putting out a more competitive product to entice more buyers. Work out, get a high-paying job, be a better conversationalist, etc.

It would also mean "self-improvement" for buyers = exercising better judgement when choosing what to buy. Have higher standards, looking out for red flags, holding out for better deals, etc.

So they're both essentially taking a logical means towards their ultimate goal of a more fulfilling love life... it might look super different at first glance, but it's because each user base faces different challenges.

A few additional observations:

Both are quite full of misandry/misogyny. I chalk it up to both subs attracting users who've been hurt badly by the opposite gender before and being unable to get over it.
Since FDS operates on the assumption that the reader does actually have options, an undesirable woman is shooting herself in the foot by following their advice compared to a more TRP-style self-improvement strategy. (Edit: actually, maybe they'd still end up with a better dating life by properly heeding red flags and stuff, but they'd never end up with a so-called HVM if they weren't already able to attract one.)

I’ve lurked on both subs (and mgtow2) a while back. My take:

TRP: lift, wear clothes that fit, stabilize your career, talk to women, observe what “works,” seduce as many as you can, commit to none

FDS: you’re perfect as you are, almost all men are beneath you, they should pay for everything, don’t fuck until you’re sure he’s “high value” (and it’s not clear there’s a consensus on what constitutes high value)

MGTOW2: 50% how do I ignore the women around me, I want to live my life amongst a brotherhood; 50% women are soul sucking vampires and I hate them

I think FDS is the antithesis to the “worst” parts of TRP and MGTOW2. I’m biased as a man here, but I felt TRP was only sometimes toxic, MGTOW2 was half toxic, and FDS was mostly toxic.

For my part, I believe I constitute (at least in some ways) a high value man who does not believe in either pill. I’d steer clear of the FDS brigade, grab a beer with a TRP guy, and either avoid or console an MGTOW2 guy.

I’m a male fan of FDS, especially the podcast (listen every week!). Despite not being part of their target audience, their opinions and advice really resonates with me.

Then I got thinking, I need to start implementing FDS into my dating strategy, and omg I’ve never been kicking more goals. I started a “scrotation” of women, bought a better bed, began vetting online dating, paid more attention to my appearance and stopped putting up with substandard sexual partners. I’m not joking, the girls of FDS have really helped me!

This is a bit simplistic, but the vibe I get from FDS is that its the place where all the RadFems (Radical Feminists) come to bitch about men, and TRP is a combo of PUA’s (pickup artists) who don’t hate women but use them for sex and give tips on how to do it, and genuine actual incels who hate women and bitch about them. TRP is more intellectually diverse in that way than FDS, which several women here on TPP have said is an echo-chamber with little room for disagreement on core beliefs.

FDS attracts a very particular type of women: bitter, educated, white collar, sex-negative, obsessed with men and what they (aren’t) doing for them. If I were to guess, the vast majority of them are not happily married or in a happy long term relationship. FDS expresses the type of hatred of men that I thought was inherent to Liberal Feminism but in fact is inherent to Radical Feminism. Overall, no, I don’t consider FDS the natural balance to TRP, except insofar as both attract those who hate the opposite sex.

I am never gonna criticize TRP for misogyny or being radical because FDS is exactly that. I do think it’s just TRP for women. FDS wants to serve the female imperative while TRP wants to serve the male imperative.

Both communities are extremely radical if taken at 100% face value. I’d tell a man looking at TRP to treat it as a toolbox just as I would say to a woman looking at FDS. At the end of the day, you’re the one that’s gonna have to live with your choices.

I see posts on FDS that visibly make me cringe just as I assume many RPers feel about the weird field reports, but the handbook seems like common sense stuff my grandmother used to tell me and I like having a female space.

Consider FDS a countermeasure to men who are red pill. These guys are not what we want to deal with, so we make strategies to avoid them like the plague.

FDS can be a bit angry at times, whereas TRP is angry almost all the time. Every post on TRP has some kind of stingy note. FDS may get carried away with man hating (again-understandable; women have been suffering a lot more than men by the hands of the opposite gender for centuries). TRP is all about dehumanizing women and treating them like objects.

FDS does not dehumanize men. They dehumanize men who already act like monsters (think unhygienic, irresponsible, inconsiderate men). TRP labels every woman the way they do simply because they are women.

I would argue FDS is not really comparable to TRP.

TRP has a wide and diverse body of written words that tackles nearly every problem that a average frustrated chump will face in their dating life and how to handle it.

FDS is more of a support group for post wall women and alpha widowed women who are victims to modern day feminism, .... and double down on their insanity even more hoping things will get less insane. A large chunk of the population are unable to separate their own emotions from objective truth. If they feel angry about something, whatever the source of their anger is becomes the imagined enemy in their life.

These people don't understand how data and science work. They don't understand how the world works. So they go around looking for things to reinforce their beliefs.

TRP and FDS are two sides of the same coin in that they attract people with a chip on their shoulder, who can't separate emotion from reality and who need a belief system that constantly reinforces their frustrations and anger.

TRP Focuses on self-growth, and constant accountability taking. FDS is more like a rant Reddit, where the only thing being done is complain and pin-point which men to avoid.

the only thing I would add in response to all of this is, what is good for a man may not be good for a woman. When i invoke the idea of FDS being a balance to TRP I'm not suggesting that they are two sides of the same coin. rather, i'm suggesting that because of TRP came into being, FDS was the natural reaction.

I appreciate all of these answers that have better shaped my understanding of both of these suberddits as well as some relevant ideologies that were relevant to my question. I love this ubreddit, it's always a great source of interest and entertainment.

I occasionally browse FDS mainly to see what buzzwords they are using. It gives me a chance of spotting FDS girls in the wild and avoiding them.

I actually have my company's email server set up to check if people are using words like "HVM" or "scrote." A few months back I got an alert of a likely "FDS girl" so I carefully got rid of her.

Both seem to come from anger and resentment toward the opposite sex. As a woman, I have found some aspects of FDS helpful (building confidence, being independent, having high standards, etc) but I do think that a lot of it is unrealistic. However, FDS is aimed at helping women protect themselves and screen for abusive men, whereas TRP is more about getting HVW.

I think TRP and FDS has some good advice, but I realized FDS tends to focus a lot on the men they claim to be low value and they don’t even have a proper definition for what a HVM is. It seems like they are looking for a prefect human that would mold to what they need at every point with no compromise. Additionally they also have their occasional threads to just hate on a specific group of guys they say they don’t want. Both can be useful for the respective genders if you filter out the useless posts. I just think these are more common on FDS when they sometimes stray from their main goal.

I would say FDS is a lot closer to the female counterpart of MGTOW than the female counterpart of TRP. Funny thing is I actually have gotten some great insight from both, but at the end of the day they both suffer from severe toxicity and entitlement.

They'd probably never admit it but they share a lot in common. Probably the biggest thing they share is the sheer delight they feel when tearing one another down. Not always but a lot of the time these people 100% deserve the pile of shit they get from the opposite sex.
