I’m assuming it’s a backlash from woke culture and hook-up culture. The most recent election alluded to that too. A lot of the voting results essentially bored down to “we want things move to the right, but we also want Trump out.”

SOME people want the perceived benefits of traditionalism. SOME women want to be provided for and SOME men want to be catered to. The problem is neither side wants to hold up their part of the bargain. SOME modern men want to be catered to without bringing home the bacon and SOME modern women want to be provided for without cooking, cleaning and submitting.

So what you have now are a bunch of folks on both sides of the aisle giving lip service to traditionalism. SOME men do it in hopes of finding a woman who will cater to them and SOME women do it in hopes of finding a man who will provide for them. But it's all a bait-and-switch.

Traditional people, truly traditional people, know where to find each other. They attend the same churches and schools, their parents are part of the same fraternities, sororities and civic organizations, they support the same charities, they run in the same circles. ~~Everybody else is~~ SOME people are just faking the funk.

Because the hookup culture sucks ? No one takes responsibility for anything or attempts to work on issues.

We have been pushed into a situation where you require 2 working people in a household to have any kind of decent living. (Single people get fucked over) but everyone just hooks up and doesnt commit so it's a double whammy.

Being brought up in a single parent household leaves you at a disadvantage compared to a traditional family. It has numerous benefits.

Birth rates have plummeted and we are looking over a cliff edge. Soon we will have a huge percentage of the population old and requiring care and theres simply not enough people being born to look after the older generations.

Traditional relationships were alot better then the crap we have today

I'm sort of surprised at teens espousing this, but then again I think teens just like to rebel. If society is liberal, they'll rebel against the rebellion itself and become traditional. If understood that way, perhaps not surprising.

For "adults"? I'm not sure. I think most people eventually come around to a pretty normal lifestyle. Some might still be serially dating in their 30s, but very commonly, people have at least the perspective of coming around to family life. It happens to virtually anyone.

I never was into serially dating and "riding the CC" or whatever. Seemed like mafan. But I was always sort of clear on settling down in my 30s and having a traditional family lifestyle. What else would I do? And why would I do it?

Is it really a surprise that people who are beaten down in society want to change it?

Is it really a surprise that they can look at the past and see that people like them weren't beaten down, and think "Why can't we go back to that?"

There's also a huge culture shock moment where it all starts to click for people. They see all the zeitgeist about how great "progress" is and how modern liberal society is great, but looking around themselves they don't see many of these benefits. Like for example we go on and on about how important education is, but we're dumber than ever. 50% of highschool graduates in Buffalo, NY read at or below an 8th grade level. But it's not just our average citizens either, even our leaders are dumber. Thomas Jefferson was fluent in 4 languages and knew a little in 12 more. Obama just knew English and a handful of memorized Spanish phrases. Sometimes it seems like Biden and Trump don't even know English.

I think a lot of us want the wealth and prosperity our ancestors seemingly enjoyed. A classic mustang gt was 2700 msrp, a house in california was 10,000, the dollar was stronger, less divorces/broken homes. Less crime. Lots more I could come up with.

Yeah we have a more “inclusive” society with technology and wealth but what have we gained? Are we wealthier? Do you feel included? Is an Iphone X really that life changing?

My father worked for 5$ an hour mowing lawns at a hospital in 1970. He had benefits, retirement and an apartment near the socal coast because he liked to surf. Today I would have to make 150k a year to have anything resembling that.

Traditional societies (whether they be religious like most societies in history or even secular ones like in the USSR* or Maoist era PRC*) offers various illusions/delusions/immaterial benefits to the LVMs in the forms of something greater (promise of the afterlife, nationalism, the greater good, etc.) so that even in the absence of material benefits there's still motivations to contribute to society.

The modern liberal secular order has done away with these lies, as they are tools of exploitation of the have nots. While they're correct about that, those same lies are also what motivates the have not people to contribute their labor and effort for the good of society.

As modern tech is still far away from the minimal requirements for a post scarcity society there's a deficit of benefits in the gap that the banishment of immaterial values has left behind.

Society flat out is not working for young men. The women here will say "well its mens fault" as an excuse to not think about or discuss it in amy real capacity but that doesn't exactly help. I know for a fact I've lost jobs I was qualified for because the people hiring wanted more women, who more or less also make up a supermajority in higher education as well as having acccess to more financial aid for it. This to say nothing of our larger cultural issues.

This has gone on for what must be at least a decade and a half in its current form and elements of it have been building longer than most of us have even been alive, but its only in the last 5ish years theres even been a discussion of these various problems in any capacity, and even then they usually have a lot of qualifiers on how really, we need to keep doing stuff for women and as a result nothing substantial happens for men.

This all sounds horrendously dramatic but the bottom line is you can't expect people to support a social order where they get the short end of the stick. Especially if they're simultaniously told the world caters to them and its their fault if it doesn't.

This isn't just trad. You have men across the world checking out or "lying flat" or going their own way or just kind of giving uo in one way or another. Trad is just popular because it claims to have an actual solution rather than just lying down and dying alone.

You could argue the other way too—postwar (WW II) the economic boom in the US (and, later, a rise in stability in Europe) gave rise to a trad system that Millennials decided to buck against. That the “boring” lives of Boomers and Greatest Generation seemed stale and unappealing because they were familiar but also taken for granted.

I (Gen X) know many UMC women with two doting parents who went full throttle party girl in college. I was the opposite — childhood with no dad and a hedonistic mom, so what I wanted more than anything was a stable husband and home. People often simply want what they don’t have.

I’m not sure if you are making economic arguments (like more men want a return to a nuclear family unit tied to male earning power) or feelings arguments (men like the idea of a cozy home and family). These are related, but still…wondering if this was meant to be on a societal or personal level.

I am a product of paternity fraud; the father on my birth certificate is not my biological father

My biological father is very narcissistic, arrogant and abusive towards me, in the beginning it was more physical, yelling and tossing my room (as in what a DS does in basic training). It gradually became more subversive and manipulative (gaslighting, circular reasoning, father is very argumentative and will argue in a very round-a-bout fashion)

I know that my step father beat my mom senseless multiple times and I have a lot of circumstantial evidence of him along with an old friend from high school of stalking and impersonating me. Narcissistic abuse is rarely physical and does not involve trespassing so I couldn't get much help from police.

I don't hate any of the three. My mother wanted what's best for her child and my biological father happened to be the better specimen. My biological father took advantage of his genetic gift. My stepfather was humiliated and mistreated so I don't hate him for beating my mother.

Of course I am thankful for my genes of being tall and well endowed. I dislike my autism and frail musculature though. It's something I live with and I am happy with what I have even if it's not much.

With one social structure, you have some people disaffected and not happy. Change the social structure and the previously unhappy people are happy, but now you have another group that is disaffected and unhappy.

So is it any wonder that people who are not doing well now, but would do so in the traditional society, want to be back in the traditional social structure?

Were more people better off, on average, in the traditional society than are now? That is the question.

Honestly "trad lifestyles" aren't becoming more common because they can't be. During the pandemic a lot of couples had to make a decision for one parent to leave the workforce to stay home with the kids for schooling but now with cost of living rising and schools reopened they'll again return to the workforce out of necessity.

I think a lot of younger single men idealize the 1950s when there was not just a chicken in every pot but more importantly a wife in every bed. Thank god all that competition died in WWII amirite? It's pre the sexual revolution as well which a lot of men resent.

I don't identify as Trad but I do have some traditional beliefs, for me it has less to do with dating and more to do with Society, not all change is progress.

The made up genders with the ridiculous pronouns, the continued push for communism, social media, modern day feminism/race activism/ victim identity politics in general, the fact that a lot of people can't live that same lifestyle that our grandparents and great-grandparents lived, possibly normalizing things that we shouldn't have etc.,

As far as from the dating standpoint, I would assume that most guys realize that they aren't getting the same benefits of marriage that their fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers got.

It's fascinating to me that people can't see that there are real advantages to the traditional lifestyle and not just one-sided selfish ones.

I am a traditionalist as is my wife. There are 'disadvantages' in scare quotes because I cannot and do not take part in things that lots of men have no problems with: late night drinking, strip clubs, porn, hanging out with women friends who aren't my wife, etc.

There are also enormous advantages. Church and family come first (and in that order) so my wife doesn't need to worry about whether I'm working late or 'working late' if you catch my drift. I am the head of my family, so I have the burden of being the ultimate decision maker on controversial subjects which sometimes feel like lose-lose - interactions with in-laws immediately comes to mind. She knows that I value her and adore her as my helpmeet and partner whom God has commanded that I love just as my own body.

I vehemently disagree with those who reject this lifestyle while understanding the rationale behind why they see this as undesirable, creepy or both.

What I don't understand is why, if you grew up in a home with parents who are now twice divorced, neglected their kids, drank like a fish, chased skirt, etc. you wouldn't be overwhelmingly attracted to a set of boundaries that make life a lot less stressful and maximize the chances of a lifelong marriage in a society in which about half of them fail to the ongoing misery of all involved.

For proof just look at our birth rate, marriage rate, drug abuse, suicide and mental illness. It’s in the shitter. People by a broad consensus were much more happier back then than they are now. It’s just magnified for people on the lower end of the SMV (younger men and older women).

I wouldn’t say it’s a rise, but a return. People are more unhappy than ever before currently. Maybe the woke stuff plays a part in that. I know my single friends wish they had partners right now, in their early 30s, vs during their fun years of messing around. I have a loving boyfriend who I’m planning a future with - children, house, etc. and I’m more happy than I’ve ever been. My poly friends seem miserable, even the married ones with other partners. You’d think more people = more love but it hasn’t worked out like that for them.

To be clear, I am not this ardent traditionalist who thinks that if we just go back to the 50s all will be well. No. That is not realistic.

My take/observation is:

Well, most people look at this nothing but casual, whether it be sex or hook ups or "nothing serious" or "no catching feelings" etc thing that mostly ends up people using one another,and they realize they want stability,trust, solidity, family,teamwork, working through and together on tough things. Realizing yes, we all need me time and sometimes one must be selfish but balancing that out with the opposite. They look at the countless talked about divorce horror stories.

I'd think of other examples but you get the drift.

This idea of any sort of thing traditional has been turned into such a bad,awful,vile thing by certain social forces and influences and it is to be avoided at all costs with not even a mere mention of it.

That goes on for so long and people start to turn away from that.

I took a few years off when my husband and I were first married to work part time and mostly be a traditional wife. I loved it! I'd say the best traditional marriages I know - Sikh, Islam, Pagan, Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, Hindu - tend to never go to bed angry, love and value the man and wife for their complementary parts, and just find a balance of cooking and housework and employment. I found out I love to cook elaborate meals, bake like a fiend, and embrace feminine dress. I'm also pretty liberal and a solid Democrat but a lot of my best friends and husband are libertarian, conservative, or third party, so I think perspectives are evolving. I really love cottagecore, permaculture, DIY, and things that compliment a traditional lifestyle. I think the pandemic made a lot of my friends turn to it - women as opposed to men got laid off, so many of us decided to work part time, be housewives, move to the country, or have kids! My mental health is so much better.

I think you answered your own question. The young men are troubled and are looking for a solution to their problems. Like many young men, they think a woman will fix their problems. However, they're frustrated with women, either because they struggle to attract them or because they struggle to build long term relationships with them. They long for a return to a traditional lifestyle because they believe they would struggle less.

There's a lack of male role models. Boys and young men don't really have many positive examples of how to attract women or how to conduct themselves in a healthy relationship. This trad lifestyle thing seems to be young men kinda inventing their own set of principles based on a lifestyle they've only gotten brief, distorted glimpses of through media. It's not good, but for some it might be the only thing they have.

People are tired of single mothers, alcohol abuse, sexual deviancy, and other damaging things to a child's mental and physical development, as well as the retainment of the relationship itself.

Both men and women are happier when we are certain the other one isn't going to run off, become abusive, or waste money, because these are the top 3 issues with relationships. Cheating, abuse, and money issues.

Those who see it first hand are more likely to try to break the cycle, because they already understand the damage it causes.

These kids probably grew up in a “non-traditional” home, or one that didn’t hold traditional values, and what did it get them? Drug problems and mental health issues. They’re just trying something else. Traditional values are the new rebellion.

Red pill is not a "traditional ideology" there has never before been such a propagation of information surrounding dating dynamics and how to navigate dealing with the world , the red pill as a concept is very new, as for many generations now, most men have done whatever it took to get pussy and exhibited no control. The red pill is about knowing and respecting yourself , before anything else. That is not at all the traditional way men viewed themselves in society or in relation to the women they interact with.
