Fyi "the wall" isn't necessarily age. It's more about lifestyle, personality, priorities, and how (if) you take care of yourself. There are even some really old women who have not hit "the wall." Yes, what kinda audience (be it professionally or in dating) we attract will change with age. You're not gonna be seen as a "sweet little maiden" at age 53 no matter how good you look for your age, but you're also not gonna be seen as a nurturing and loving mother figure at 18 no matter how mature you are or how many kids you have.

Yes, where we are in our fertility development does have an impact on what men and society at large value in us: maiden, mother, crone. But men's value to society also has an expiration date, it's just not as strongly connected to fertility, because they don't go through menopause, and society views them more as work force and protectors, and then fatherhood is kinda secondary, because their role in reproduction is very small.

So a man loses his value when/if he's incapable of working, either by making money or serving in the military. Which honestly is about as fickle as fertility if not more so. Especially if you take into consideration that many of the jobs men are expected to handle have a high mortality rate, and a high rate of workplace danger in general. A mortality rate that I think is even higher than that of childbirth, in modern time. Not to mention the extremely high mortality rate of serving your country in the military. And if you lose a limb on the job or end up in a wheelchair, or if you're just not smart enough to get a high status job, your value as a man is over, as far as society is concerned. And this value of workforce capability is also highly dependent on whether he's additionally considered a good husband/father as well.

So both men's and women's value are based on shit things we can't control. We women can't control our fertility beyond a certain age, and men can't control their workforce skills beyond a certain age, because their bodies and mental capacity will also weaken and wither with age. Yet we women are excused for that. No one thinks we're useless if we're physically weak or not that bright, no one questions our authority more when we're 65 compared to 25, we don't get nearly as much shit for having a low status job. Vice versa men won't be considered useless as fathers/husbands based on age alone. And yes this is entirely based on biological facts. Men continue to be fertile until basically forever, men have more muscle strength, women control most of the reproductive process and child rearing.

And we all have an expiration date. No one likes it, but that's just life. Women's fertility window closes, men's ability to work dwindles. And most people want to marry and reproduce before it becomes too difficult or impossible to birth and raise children. You can't really fault that on societal norms. It's in our nature. As is for most other animals. Reproduction is the reason we have sexual dimorphism and sexual attraction to begin with. So maybe just make the most of what you've got instead of hyperfocusing on shit you can't change, whether that is to desperately chase it or to desperately denounce it.

From my perspective The Wall doesn't really exist at all.

For an attractive woman you go from being desired by practically every man you see while young to (gasp!) merely every man in your ballpark age or older. Damn, that Wall is, um... harsh?

Yeah, the magnitude of options is less for less attractive women. Still, The Wall is just downgrading a woman from extremely broad desirability across age groups to desirability within her own age group. The latter is all men ever had anyway, so women are just being "downgraded" to where men are their whole lives.

As for the benefits of getting older, I wonder if a part of it is the liberating effect of no longer being a candidate to be the most attractive.

There's a an observation about men's locker rooms, where younger, fitter guys are very discreet and quickly get changed where old guys take their time and let their guts, junk, and saggy asses hang out with no shame whatsoever. The young guys feel pressure to be perfect physical specimens and are worried they're not quite achieving this. Old guys know there is no chance of them being the fittest, most perfect physically so they feel no pressure to even pretend.

I think women feel a similar liberation. When they're young, being the very hottest seems to be within their grasp and they feel pressure to try to achieve it. When they get older they figure that's no longer an option to be the hottest so however hot they can be is just fine.

The references here to the wall are gross. I see it almost always as an effort to put women in their place, or their future place, an effort carried out by men who often have no "place" of their own. These men are socially aware and they know they're talking to or in the presence of real women, which is kind of the point I guess. To be assholes.

Then there are men who really don't seem to know that real women are reading what they write. I mean they know, but not in any meaningful way.

The first group is mean spirited and solipsistic, while the second is just solipsistic.

The shame of this is that the stench of these comments clings to more genuine concerns men have about dating and relationships. Things have changed and a small but significant subset of men in particular are lost and kind of in a panic because an exquisitely vital aspect of their lives is passing them by. I don't know that a site like this can help anyone, even when the air is more breathable, but any chance of that gets fouled by the eerily "supreme gentleman" type input.

Most of the treatment that older/lesser attractive women complain about is essentially how most men are usually treated by most women.

The baseline level of attention that women receive from adolescence until early middle age, that their neurochemistry has been calibrated to, is actually special treatment.

You can frame this as men being shallow, but if it weren’t for women’s underlying realization that they haven’t been quite as interesting to people as they inferred from the attention they used to receive, it wouldn’t bother them nearly as much.

Women whose attractiveness is primarily derived from innate characteristics like their facial structure and natural bodily proportions tend to continue garnering attention from men at an older age than other women who relied mostly on style and could only manage to be a healthy weight due to youth.

And it's not just to get ahead in their career. The workplace is a prime place to see if you are worth it when compared to your peers, and many relationships (and affairs) begin there.

Older men knocking up young, single ladies is a common phenomenon. Most societies around the world, generally do encourage childbirths at the younger age ranges than they do in the older age ranges.

It just so happens that modern science backs up this cultural phenomenon inherent in most societies. Less problems and complications arise during childbirth at the younger age spectrum where as the older age spectrum gets a much higher percentage of problems and complications during childbirth because old age has a direct correlation as to how healthy the baby will become, regardless of what you eat to feed the fetus or how well you maintain yourself physically.

Old age is old age. At old age, everything starts breaking down--mentally, physically, physiologically, etc. The propensity of the baby getting born with birth defects is disproportionately higher, the older that one gets. These are undeniable facts.

I’m older, single and dating. I find plenty of guys who are fine with dating older women. I’m happily invisible to the youth chasers and it’s a relief. I’m a man in my late 20’s and I don’t feel this way about women at all. I work with a lot of older women at my company and I find many of them to be really attractive. I don’t really want kids so I don’t care about fertility. I have also never used a younger woman to make an older woman jealous. I agree with you that society values younger women in general for their beauty. However so much of that has to do with diet, exercise, hygiene, fashion, and grooming.

You got it all wrong. Men are biologically attracted to younger women for fertillity reasons. The older men who knocked up younger women and abandoned them have succeeded in fufilling their biological instinct to reproduce. Then those children will grow up and seek young women to knock up, and the cycle continues.

In group 1, the men compete and spend time effort and resources to get a chance to procreate with a young woman. She bears his children and pass on the genes.

Group 2, the men only go for older women. She doesnt bear children because of infertility. The genes that male men attracted to older women slowly gets driving out of the gene pool until they all go extinct.

Simple as that.

Now what are women able to do in this situation? Well they leverage their youth and beauty to marry a man with the highest feasible value, and make him stay. Women are born with natural skills and assets to do this, from psychological, physical, and emotional. In the modern world there are laws that force men to compensate women in the event of divorce.

That is not to say you should marry or not marry. That choice is up to you. If you believe all men are trash and arent worth marrying, then all the more power to you. The men will find women that want to be taken care of and start families or they will stay single.

Once the men marry a woman and she grows older you also have to wonder, whats stopping him from seeking other young women? Well this is where the marriage strength is put to the test. If the wife provides an emotional bond stronger than his natural instinct to reproduce with as much fertile women as possible, he wont cheat. Same goes for the man. If the man provides that bond, then the wife wont cheat on him with the milkman while he is at work.

This takes a lot of healthy relationship foundations, since evolutionary nature has preferred men who impregnate multiple women in their prime, and women who cucked their husbands and used his resources to raise another mans child throughout the ages. That behavior was what spread the genes and survived long enough to spread more genes.

You don’t have to hit a wall as a guy until maybe 50. Gets harder for women in 40s. Attraction to others isn’t an age thing, you’re just personally not looking as good as you did before, which is almost always changeable by looksmaxing and cosmetics.

Some men and women’s best years can be in their 40s. I would say it gets to be very difficult in your 50s though especially for women. You can still be attractive in your 50s too though and date around and have fun.

Funny how many women claim to be so competitive, yet, when it comes to competing for the most valuable relationship in their life, they lose by forfeit to other women. And then end up disgruntled at the men they lost.

It all comes down to the fact that people are meant to hook up young and bear children. Youth is more attractive on the whole but that’s not the main point the main crux is that looking for a wife in her 40s means getting with someone who’s half way through their life.

Think about it this way only people who hook up early on can have a diamond marriage and a fully partnered life.

You can easily make yourself unattractive even if you are of younger age. Very rarely women do that tho, which means they like attention.
