I'll talk for myself as a reasonably good looking, tall 39 years old man who's into sports and is athletic. I quit OLD. It's mostly because of how unfair OLD is for men. I've had had decent success with Tinder pre-covid but ever since covid, it has turned into a shit show.

Somehow, women have these ridiculously high standards and demands. "I want a man that's at least 1m80, he must be able to cook, must love to travel, has to start the conversation, must sweep me away and has to make me laugh"

I mean what am I a clown? I'm here to make you laugh and to fuckin' amuse you? FUNNY HOW HUH?

In all seriousness, these ridiculously high standards and all the conditions they have... I just can't be bothered any more. Many of these women are in no position to demand to be treated like a queen. I mean you're objectively reasonably good looking but still average, you have 2 kids, nothing in your profile besides "I luv food and wine and good vibes", you do no sports except taking your bike to do groceries and have an average job yet somehow you demand that the guy is this Mr.Perfect? Come on now.

I'm not saying dating is stupid and all women are crazy, mind you. Dating can absolutely be fun, I speak from experience, but right now, the benefits of a relationship just don't outweigh the efforts and time I'd have to invest in OLD. Not by a long shot. I will give real life dating another try sometime, but right now I got "dating exhaustion" to be honest and I need a break.

I just don't want to date. Not online, not in real life. Not because "waah waah all womenz are bitches", far from it, but simply because I have no real desire for it and I want to spend my energy on other shit. It would be unfair towards the woman and towards myself to pretend I want a relationship.

The day I want to give dating another try again, I'll probably not go the OLD route, because it sucks in it's current state.

I would imagine that if you fail at it for long enough, they give up on online dating and either try to meet women in real life, exit the dating market altogether, or bitch and moan about their woes with some incel groups.

I’m inclined to believe that a significant portion of them either settle for women they didn’t previously consider or are settled for by women who didn’t previously consider them. Whether they are happy with this in the long term is anybody’s guess.

It’s a very good question because we really don’t know yet. We haven’t had a full end-to-end generation of men and women who’ve come of age (say 16-18) and indeed left the dating market / fully hit the wall (say 36-38) all whilst dating apps have been fully active and mainstream.

Tinder was invented in 2012 and became fully popular in 2014 so an 18 year old in 2014 won’t be in their mid-thirties and hitting the wall till 2030 onwards. Once we reach about 2035 we’ll be able to see the full effect of the “Tinderpocalypse” - although all the signs currently are that it’ll be a very different generation of 40-somethings reaching that age when they do come around having lived their dating lives end-to-end with dating apps as the full mainstream

I think based on posts here, if you are single, and aren’t someone who gets a lot of matches on online dating you really need to do your best to understand that online dating isn’t going to be the path to sex or relationships for you. The posters here seem to have most difficulty than any of the men I know in real life, but that may be regional or age related or something. But I think clearly there is a need to learn to go out into the world and meet people at work, sports, classes, some actual real life way. Which is actually how most long term couples I know met, anyway.

I have a lot to share because I have a massive amount of experience in this. In my 20s I had a lot of success on dating apps, even met my now wife on OkCupid in 2011. I was doing OLD from 2006-2011 (18 years old until 23).

I've had a few buddies who I've tried to help do OLD, so I've seen the variance in attention these men get compared to me or each other. A few things I can say with certainty:

Women rarely respond to men outside of their race or white men. If the dude is black for instance, messaging an Asian girl is basically futile. White men get to pick whoever they want.

Height is important. Regardless of what women say here. My 6'1 Asian buddy did significantly better at getting matches than my 5'6 Mexican buddy.

Essentially these average looking dudes can hope for a 1-2% match rate, which would take months/years doing hundreds of swipes per day for a chance to talk with a girl. My 5'6 Mexican homie got literally 0 matches over the course of 6 months and just gave up (which is strange because he does pretty ok for himself in real life).

Asian bud is an incel.

Black bud met someone irl and got married, also had very little success on OLD.

White, average looking buds had slightly more success than the MOC but still not that great overall.

I know very few guys who got absolutely nothing at all, but most guys I know did struggle to get consistent matches. They just eventually stopped taking OLD seriously and eventually dropped the apps. It sucks cause their confidence would usually tank for a while, but a couple found girlfriends IRL.

I think it's quite sad, but they'll eventually get settled by women who weren't able to make the men they were chasing commit or they remain single. There is a reason for example, why so many women change or drop their dating requirements after a certain age by appealing to "maturity" and "better understanding of what I want", it's just a coping (sometimes even deceitful) mechanism to deal with the fact that the guys they were chasing aren't seriously interested in them.

Classic example of this are height requirements, tall men are in high demand by most women but there aren't enough of them (indeed studies show that shorter men marry later than taller men, aka women settle for them).

If I'm not mistaken, there are roughly 4 men for every woman on OLD apps. This is actually sufficient to explain the 1-4% match rates average men get, because abundance begets abundance mentality, which begets more abundance.

With an 80-20 imbalance, you would expect guys to get roughly 20% match rates and women to get 80% match rates if everything was random. In reality, the 20% match rate in men causes them to swipe more often than random, while the 80% match rate causes women to swipe less often than random. This only increases women's match rate further, and decreases men's match rate further. This spirals until we reach a fairly extreme exponential distribution, or the OLD service manipulates the system to spread the wealth around a bit.

After these women have been ran through, abused, lost their looks etc and fail to get these guy to commit or stay committed they'll reach back to the guys they wouldn't even have given the time to before.

Then, many out of desperate loneliness will accept and they'll both resent eachother. The men will resent the woman for passing on him in the past and all the pain, rejection, while she was out with 'Chad' etc.

Then the women will resent the guy for not being as rich, good looking, sexy, etc as the guys she got dumped by.

Speaking as a woman, I joined online dating for the first time yesterday. I hope that what I am going to share helps. I posted about pictures (where I am dressed nicely I put effort into how I look. I like to dress modestly just a personal choice. I don’t like showing off to much skin: nothing wrong with that it is just for my religion preference). At least have a bachelors degree just as I do, either 5 years my senior or junior, have a steady job as a I do and please look nice and put effort into how you look and the quality of pics you post online. I saw some guys who look great have most of the things that I want in a partner but these guys they are dressed in horrible clothing, they do not look presentable at all in a pic compared to the guys I matched with. I am sure if I posted a picture looking the same way these guys look, they d not even look at my profile for a second. My point is: when you are going to reach out to a woman please check how do her pics and yours compare? What’s her status, profile how do they compare? If they are similar enough trust me you will get matched. If you ignore to double check about things like these: they matter to women. They will ignore you or refuse to match you. Also abstain from talking about anything sexual to a woman before you get to know here well (if you are looking for something serious: not talking about hook ups here) otherwise you will get blocked by a woman who could be been your future partner if you played your card well. I think that depends on the men, what they do about it:

improve their SMV to some degree probably most man do, just by getting any career running later in their live. But maybe also having get some better social skills for job reasons.
playing the beta buck for the desperate around 30 year old women cards turn at some age. Less man are overweight than women so with age this many overweight women have lower SMV it's just the question if man deal with that, the women that ignored them between 18-30/35 will they rescue them just to get divorced 7 years later and taken the children away most likely, sadly many man do.
Most of the forever single man I know between 30-45 married a women eventually, sometimes their first sex partner, or at least low body count before. Either lower economic class, but also often from other countries. Often the women plays the dominant role in the relationship, which not only because of it but partially why it likely fails.

I think that describes most man, but it would be strange that huge amounts of man had zero ltr in their whole lives, that would be strange.

But I talk about the recent past, maybe that changes with the today 20-30 years old and even that never happens for many of them, but I don't think this relationships are very likely healthy and long lasting, either they end in fast divorce or they will be toxic where the women is the dominant one.

So yes most get something going eventually, more because of the steep loss of SMV on the womens site and a bit because their SMV goes a bit up with better careers, I would just not see that as a happy end. Yes they can have a bit sex, but the price is gigantic high and the quality and length of this relationships will be not good (generally speaking). That is what I see around me at least.

Also I talk mostly about blue pilled "liberal" men... those man that usually have most problems with women. (and I speak more about europe than america)

The vast majority of people (hetero men and women), end up coupled. Yes, there’s a divorce rate, yes there’s an even higher divorce rate for second and subsequent marriages/couplings, but the simple fact is the vast majority of people find someone.

There are so, so many lightweight, filthy grubs out there looking for hookups and threesomes and porn sex, or their next DV victim, so many who live with their dysfunctional mom, don’t have a job, don’t wash their asses or their sheets, or own more than one set of cutlery, have three addictions, are borderline for Ricketts and scurvy because they get no adequate nutrition and sunlight by choice, that if an average guy of average height, weight, attractiveness and status is genuinely looking for a LT relationship, he will find one.

An average guy who expects a supermodel, or porn sex or an heiress, is going to be disappointed. An average guy who seeks an average woman, in his own age range, who earns in his wage range and wants mostly the same things as him out of life will do just fine. It might take him a while to find her, but he will.

When I speak to women from 18-40 about what they look for in a man, most have such low expectations it’s heartbreaking. One decently attractive 28yo woman said to me a few weeks ago that she would be happy if he had his own place (rented is fine), any kind of job, and was kind. That’s it. She didn’t care about his height, wealth, dick size, six pack or any of the other stupid shit men constantly whine about not having. She just wanted a guy who wouldn’t kick her dog and would come to her family Christmas and be nice to her relatives. The bar is so low right now for men, it’s in hell.

I met my husband when he was 32. He is sweet, kind, extremely physically fit and handsome, and very wealthy. But he has crippling self image due to a strict upbringing so is cripplingly shy around women. In their twenties, most of my single girl friends are trying to play the field! I wanted to settle down young (married at 26, met husband at 24, engaged after a year, moved in after six months of dating), but to be honest, most of my female friends either want men to pay for dates and spoil them or go after assholes, or themselves are afraid of dating either because they are shy, or because they are intimidated by men. I have found, that as my friend group ages up, everyone chills out in online dating, and settle down in online dating/stop being players/golddiggers in their 30s when their sexual market value fades for women and men crave more real-life connections than the rigged sexual dating marketplace of an app. I've only ever met my boyfriends in real life - religious groups (I love going to religious groups of all types, lol), hobby groups, writing groups, sports, hiking, environmental activism groups, work. If the goal is to settle down and have kids for men, there are tons of Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Catholic, Orthodox, and Sikh women who would kill for marriage and children. They also tend to be the sweetest due to strong moral compasses. I've also found Mensa to be a great dating venue, comic book stores, Renn Faires, national parks, campaigning for political organizations, and other places like college. I think men in their 30s - and women - tend to tire of online dating, at least my friends, and strive for real life connections. But of course, I caveat that with half my friends met amazing partners on the apps - I always had luck on OKCupid (I'm a woman lol), but a lot of my guy friends like Hinge and Bumble. I know a guy like that, he's about my age ~mid twenties. He just took a break. Stop using the apps, focus on his degree. I imagine once that's over he'll give dating in whatever form he so chooses another shot.

I have way too much price too old -- but that might bite me in the ass too later on. As I'm also focussed on getting my degree.

It is one of those cases where you'll find someone -- assuming you put some effort into it. It should both be rare to end up with nobody and it should also be rare to just meet your "special someone" if you don't do shit. Gotta be proactive.

But I hope they aren't insane and will keep trying to use OLD, some other app, some other website just to realise that stuff didn't work for a reason.

I think every man should have at least one experience where they didn't fancy the girl who was fully invested to them. It would teach a lot about attraction if they are smart enough to think about it.

I quitted tinder and for me it was best decision that I've made for a long time. Instead of feeling like shit after no girl that I really liked matched I have freed myself from feeling rejected after putting myself out there. Plus all that time I used to swiping, getting ghosted and going to mediocre dates is now free to be used in other activities.

Personally I just decided not to and uninstalled them all after a while. Didn't really make sense for me to keep looking when virtually everyone else on there wanted different things than I do.

The only men I know that are 30+ and single are either on the spectrum, big time stoners, or morbidly obese. The guys on the spectrum, yeah it will be pretty tough for them to find someone, sad but true. The drug addict, he really just works, smokes and reads comic books, I don't think he cares about finding a relationship. Now the obese guy, that one surprises a little because he has a good job and an active social life. He's over 6 feet tall so it goes to show being short and lean with some visible muscle beats being tall and fat.

Most of them find someone. The percentage of those who actually stay single for the rest of their lives are really really low

Most simply find someone IRL through social circles.

Statistically, the vast majority of people end up in lifelong relationships, usually after 5-7 attempts with different people.

Men who do not get any relationships with women arew NOT average, not even close. They are a statistical anomaly just like Chads, only on the opposite end.
