This is a tiktok with 2million likes claiming as such (posted during Mens Mental Health Month, no less).

I think this has to do with women having a responsive sex drive, so they will rarely find any given man attractive based on appearance alone. But few women are going to say their BF/husband is ugly, even if that’s what she consciously or subconsciously thought when they first met, because he has become attractive to her over time due to proximity, vibes, emotional connection, etc.

I don’t really understand the motivation for women to claim that all/most women are attractive though. I’ve heard similar on this sub well. Most women aren’t attracted to other women so they are not giving an actual unbiased evaluation of attractiveness. And, imo, most women are at least slightly hate men as a group so they have no problem saying things like “most men are ugly”. On the contrary they are biased toward women so they say things like “some women are unfortunately not cute but they have a good personality”, when any man can tell you there are plenty of women, cute or otherwise, that definitely do not have good personalities. In some cases it’s the least attractive women with the meanest personalities. Sadly I think it’s a defense mechanism or just formed from a history of being bullied, but that’s not really an excuse.

Anyway, my opinion is that attractiveness is approximately evenly distributed between the genders with both men and women falling on a bell curve with most being average looking. Women like the tiktoker above would call an average 5/10 woman cute and an average 5/10 man ugly due to bias. The common view that women are more attractive is due to men having a spontaneous and visually based sex drive and women, who don’t share this type of sex drive being biased towards their own gender.
