I wanted to discuss this from the male's perspective. There's often a lot of discussion on here about settling in regards to a women's perspective i.e. dating in their 20's then settling for a "beta provider" as her options deteriorate.

After reading a post on here where an 'average' man was complaining about dating and he said that he would settle for any girl as long as she wasn't overweight - many women on here were offended and said how bad they'd feel if they knew a guy was "settling" for them or the guy was only with them because they were his last option, or because he couldn't do any better or because he just doesn't want to be lonely.

Although I understand why this would be offensive, is it really that wrong to have that perspective? As a man we often need to just take what we can get. Is it wrong to do this though?

Assuming you treat your partner with well and with respect, then is it that bad just taking what you can get? rather than just being alone forever? or holding out for a women that you'll probably never be able to get?
