We've all talked at length about how men get more of their self worth from sex than women do.

A lot of guys (and several psychiatrists I know) attest to the fact that one of the most traumatic things that can happen to a young man is having some kind of sexual problem in a relationship, only to find out that the girl he loved was way more sexual with someone else. Whether it's a girl who was frigid with him then immediately slept with some random guy after they broke up, or learning his partner did dirtier things with exes than she did with him, or whatever. It can cut incredibly deep, make a guy question everything about himself, scar him for life, even make him suicidal.

My question is, is there an equivalent event for a young woman that could hurt her as much? It doesn't even have to involve a boyfriend, but is there anything that would be that traumatic despite not causing "actual harm" the way assault/rape/etc. would?

I've seen guys on here say it's her ex committing to another girl faster, or taking someone on more expensive dates, but I just don't believe that's true. I don't think the male desire for sex and the female desire for commitment are nearly as analogous as people on here make them out to be. That's why I'm really only interested in answers from women. Thanks!
