Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, chances are your social media page has seen at least some of the biblical flood that has been Andrew Tate's content. The guy is literally everywhere, and if you interact with just one of his posts on tiktok to either comment or like, your entire FYP becomes him yelling at the camera about xyz.

So why is he so popular among young men?

I honestly think its because he provides a positive and substantive vision for masculinity, something which is completely lacking for most men growing up. By positive I don't mean "good", but rather a set of actual arguments about what to do, rather than what not to do. Most men growing up are simply only taught what things to refrain of: don't harass women, don't be violent, etc etc. Those negative instructions (again, not negative as in bad, but negative as in what not to do) are the entire masculine framework for young men growing up. Women on the other hand, receive a wide range of positive steps for being feminine. The positive ideal of a strong, confident, intelligent young women who dominates fields filled traditionally with men is given to young women from a young age. This disparity in positive messaging leads young men to often be rudderless as it relates to their gender identity. Then comes in guys like Andrew Tate, and he tells men what to do. He provides a substantive identity and formula for what a man should be (in his view, an influential, physically strong individual who dominates the women in his life) The way he presents his views makes you wanna be proud to be a man, and feel like masculinity is something to embrace, not shy away from.

I personally don't agree with any of what Tate says, but it is clear that those who want to combat his spread would be better off trying to provide an opposing, positive vision for masculinity rather than screaming he is a misogyist.

Anyway, do you guys agree with this? Why do you think guys like Andrew Tate have become so popular online?

Edit: some people say they have never heard of him, and thats fair, part of that is particular to whatever your algorithm is like. But if you view stats on google trends and such there is pretty good evidence he is the most searched up man on the internet right now.
