I'm 5'6, so that probably eliminates about half, right off the bat.

I'm in decent shape, have good hair, and have a face that probably ranges from average to above average depending on individual taste. So maybe 1/3 of the remaining 50 would think I'm their type.

Of those 16-17 or so, probably no more than 5 would enthusiastically agree to a date, without knowing me beforehand, if I cold approached them.

But I'd be lucky if it worked out with even 1 of those 5 after factoring in compatibility.

None of them wanted to date me in my twenties.

I'm short and homely, and always sucked in group meets. Young women in groups are conscious of what other women in the group think, and I didn't come off as much in relative physical attractiveness.

I (62m) am old and married now, but as a young man I had to play to my strong suits which were one-on-one conversation, displaying my competence and utility as a male, and being reliable (which actually turns off some women).

I was not the guy that women showed off to their girlfriends at the club. To woo a woman I had to first platonically engage her in a one-on-one non-meat-market setting.

Nonetheless I managed to stir the heart of a beautiful woman to marry me and then became the husband that she bragged to her friends about.

The paradox is that average men like me complain that women are shallow and only want rich tall guys with six packs, but we are just as shallow because what we are complaining about is that beautiful women don't want us.

That's overthinking it. I didn't care about the obvious hypocrisy of an unattractive man like me demanding a beautiful mate. I just cynically took the approach of playing to my strengths to find my dream girl.

Oddly enough, I noticed that attractive women my age began hitting on me in my forties and older even though I was still homely and short, but by then was also married and balding and starting to grow hair in my nose and ears.

They were twenty years too late. My wife's "go-ugly-early strategy" paid off and we have been together for four decades.

I would guess like 70. I say that because I’ve dated very popular and attractive men in the past that would be considered “Chads” or whatever. I’ve never had trouble getting men to like me and want to date me. So I think most men would go on a date. But leaving a little room for not being everyone’s type, or there being deal breakers. (Ex: I’m an atheist, won’t be a stay at home mom, etc.)

I'm 55. Most of the women my age who date who would be in a room I would walk into spend money and time on beauty. I'm thin, I have curly thick hair for the moment that premenopausal would die for, but I don't style it, at all. I look in the mirror when I brush my teeth, and wet it if it has a huge issue from sleeping, run fingers through it, done. I spend zero time on looking more than not crazy. But I bathe daily, pluck random chin hairs, normal hygiene stuff.

5 of those hundred men will look and see a woman their age who looks like Janis Joplin with high cheekbones, and go yes that's my dream gal. One of them will have hippie hygiene, one of them will be ridiculously self-righteous, one of them will quiz me on my recycling habits, one of them will be obese, and maybe perhaps one of them might be someone I would date.

I would want a guy who really liked who I was, I could care less about the other guys there. They don't ever enter my radar.

I feel like “walking into a room” is a bad context. Let’s say it’s just meeting the single people around your age out and about over a month or so.

If you’re an average 20M you’d be able to get dates with maybe 5. At 25, maybe 12 dates. At 35 it would peak around 30 dates. Then it would start slowly going back down again. For a non-fat average 20F it would be about 40 dates and just slowly decrease by about a date per year until 40 when it bottoms out at 20.

This is because of a few reasons. First, men are more biologically physically attracted to young women than vice versa. This causes young women to become temporarily more relatively desirable than comparably desirable men their age. Second, since women aren’t as attracted to men in general, they need other things to “incentivize” them to give a guy a chance including income, status, and maturity which take time for men to develop. Third, women that want a family start to feel pressure around 25-30 to be more realistic which temporarily help men around 28-35 until women give up on having kids and revert back to being extremely selective again.

I mean most of them would protect their ego and say it was just for laughs and probably just take me to.Mcdonalds. But single guys in their fifties here are quite lonely, don't take care of themselves and a lot of them basically just work eat and sleep and even ones that weren't attracted might take up a date just to eat a burger in company not alone in their car or at their coffee table.

We'd probably talk about normal issues for people our age like aging parents, kids who can't launch properly due to the economy, getting exercise now our bodies ache more easily, people we might have in common.

About half the dates would try to convince me to have sex and about half of those would try to cling to me even though I didn't want sex.

I recently went to a birthday party where I was the only straight single guy and there were seven women who weren't accompanied by a partner. One of them sent obvious interest signals through the night and other two occasionally made what could be interpreted as an interest signal.

So that would be 1-3/7 women, although most of them were quite a few years older than me, and I don't know if all these unaccompanied women were actually single, their boyfriends might just not be there. Also I didn't have any meaningful conversation with them, we just greeted and saw each other interact around the place.

This is such a silly question. But lets go. In my current city I would say 60 to 70, and following any city in a 200 mile radius it would be either less or more depending on how I would enter the room. It literally depends on the room and who is in the room.. really. I have gotten kind of used to moving in places where I am celebrated so perhaps that creates an echo chamber of women who all have their eyes on me, or I am celebrated because I move a certain way which attracts women, chicken and egg..

Purely based on past personal experience, I work as a professional performer in the entertainment industry thats all imma say. So there will always be a percentage of women that will want to date just because of the thrill/the status, or for bragging rights. For that same reason, there will always be a percentage that will specifically not want to date me. Sometimes its the one woman that I want out of all the women that are swooning, and she will be turned off by the fact that all these other women are shamelessly showing interest in me. So it works two ways.. However, curiosity often kills the kittykat and the women that say they are turned off by those other women, still like to take the chance to see if all that hype is for a reason, so in between are always the curious types. - and then there obviously are those that generally are just not into me, those are usually the women I like to hang around the most out of all the different types. lmao. Is it a random drawing of 100 people, so close to a normal distribution of attractiveness and other traits?

Is the judgment of if they want to go on a date with me just based on the physical impression, or are there speed dating rounds or any other information they have about me?

Is that their only choice for the day/week/month, or do they get a string of candidates and can pick the best one of the day to signal that interest for a date? Do all people get to have a date with me or do i make a choice of one person in reverse? This all affects how many people would signal they want to date me.

I think a good portion of the lower end attractiveness people would not signal they want to date me because they know it's not going to happen or they will be rejected. people know their market value pretty well and if they have to face the consequences of their choices, they tend to stick to their league.

Out of the 100, if normally distributed, about 5-10 would be more attractive than me and not want to date me.

So maybe 65-70 people would want to date me out of a random distribution of 100 people my age. If you include preferences and discrimination based on racial features and cultural attractiveness markers, and assume a mixed races and cultures demographic typical of my city, that would cut out maybe a further 10-15 people.

So about half remaining of the initial 100, after just the physical filter and some "plausibility" check for "will he date me or is this pointless".

But realistically, further filters will apply when the information is shared. Politics, education, culture, intellect, smell, voice, ... many others.

20? If I know what type of dates and activities they like and am willing to indulge them, the group of women is randomly selected and it is an environment suitable for approaching (for example, not a gynecologist's waiting room).

100 - 5 not heterosexual - 30 who are not interested in a relationship or dating -20 who are just not in mood -5 where for some reason I screw up even a simple date invitation = 40 :2 to rule out the ones I will outright repel.

That leaves 20 who either like me or have a neutral attitude towards me, which is enough for them to be willing to participate in their favorite activity during their free time that I will pay for.

Of these, 10 will be interested in repeating their favorite activity. And maybe 5 will be willing to establish some form of other relationship, be it sex, romantic relationship or friendship.

I’d say I could probably get around 20 if I’m lucky, probably closer to 10 though.

I’m fairly average overall, I’m 5 foot 8, 175 pounds with a small belly. I’m decent looking and got a pretty decent sense of humor along with being very understanding and non confrontational. Also no size issues uh, down under, if you catch my drift.

I feel I’m adequate for maybe 20 percent of women if I’m lucky but I think realistically it’s closer to 10.
