Just the fact that he noticed their comings and goings like that tells me he absolutely was planning on hitting on them. I’m torn on the women, though. They might have sensed his intentions; we know men think they’re being slick when they’re clearly staring and being obvious. But it could just be them coincidentally going about their days and he assumes it’s him.

He has severe Protagonist Syndrome. I remember thinking this way as a self-absorbed teenager: oh those people are talking, it must be about ME. they moved, it must be ME. I wonder if they noticed ME. So many guys have this mindset, like incels who claim the girl at the bus stop is “ignoring” him but she just in her own head minding her own business, or a group of pretty girls at a cafe must be “laughing at him” but literally they’re just joking around with each other.

I gotta say I love how as a whole we are no longer just being nice! We're finally choosing our comfort and safety over being polite! Younger me has been in situations like this where I've been super uncomfortable sitting next to men who are leering or making me uncomfortable and young me would always just stay sitting there because I was afraid I was overreacting or that I didn't want to be rude. Now me and hundreds of women alike are collectively saying " fuck your feelings my safety comes first " and ill tell you I LOVE it!

I found the original thread and OPs comments are so revealing of what an entitled creep he really is. He attempted to hide his true misogynistic nature in his post, but failed in almost every single comment. Is it really that hard to keep up your fake persona for a couple of hours when all you wanted was sympathy in the first place?

In one of his comments, he laments, basically, that "unfortunately" (he actually had the nerve to write that!) women's attraction to a guy influences their behaviour towards the latter. I mean, he is genuinely upset that women dare to have a say in who gets to successfully approach them for a sexual encounter/romantic relationship. As if he was owed a chance by women out of ... of what? Pity? Why the fuck should women let this uggo hit on them when it's clear as day that they'd not even voluntarily sit next to him, let alone touch this entitled piece of shit?

How it reads to me:

Hey reddit, these ladies that I make uncomfortable keep moving away from me and giving me a wide birth. I go to eat out and take the table next to a woman that is eating (despite there being plenty of other tables open away from her) and she moves shortly after I sit down. I go to the gym and HAVE to us the equipment next to a woman who is working out next to it and she moves as well (there was other equipment to use, I just decided that to use the one next to her ;) ). One time I was at a small bar and took the ONLY seat available next to a woman who was by herself. SHE MOVED THE MOMENT ANOTHER CAME OPEN! THE AUDACITY!

The lack of awareness in scrotes gives me a headache.

I do this at the gym all the type. Just a few days ago I was working out on a bike and a dude got on the bike right next to me. I got off, cleaned my bike, and got on the one furthest away from him. I lowkey felt bad but I just felt so uncomfortable. There were many bikes and he got the one closest to me… when we were the only two riding them

I just had a similar experience at a store yesterday. A man stood uncomfortably close behind me in line as we waited to pay. I was wearing a mask, and he was so close that I smelled his ashtray breath when he hacked a cough out, that's how close he was. I finished putting my stuff on the belt, and stepped in front of my cart to put it between me and him. When it was time to pull my cart forward, he again stepped so close that I could smell him. It was awful. They absolutely know. I'm done pretending I don't get it and worrying that I'll be seen as rude. Stay the fuck out of my breathing bubble!!

I've noticed they do it to other females as well- like any good looking chick in the gym will suddenly have four guys working out around her, all LOUDLY grunting and making crazy noises that are borderline shouts. 99% of the time they have no intention of actually being brave enough to go up and ask her out on a date, they just want her attention, like a small child, and will grunt and drop their weights as loud as possible and scream until they get it. So yeah.... every woman I know has had to deal with this BS at the gym and we're fucking sick of it. And sick of men doing this weird attention seeking behavior in GENERAL in public.

I have zero issue with polite men who hit on women. There was a guy who was checking me out for a purchase today that took a long time because of logistics and he was kind of chatting me up and told me "Don't forget about me!" in a very flirty way when I left. I laughed and had no issue with it because it was sweet and polite and honest. Most dudes have WEIRD intentions towards women though and generally try to figure out how to be the biggest nuisance as possible, and force her to pay attention to them in the most cowardly way without any intention of following through. It's boring and pathetic and I'm over it.

Last week at the gym, my friend and I were on treadmills. This big buff guy comes in and as this woman in leggings was walking by, he legit stared at her butt for like 30 seconds as she walked past him out of the entrance. He pretended to get water from the water fountain but didn't drink or have a bottle. I stared him down as he walked past us and I guess he knew I saw him. Then he gets on the treadmill directly behind us. My friend is legally blind so she didn't see him. I knew he was looking at our *sses the entire time. When I got off I gave him the hardest stare and he looked at me bewildered, like I WAS CRAZY. We stayed on for 10 minutes (he arrived 6 minutes in) and then headed to another part of the gym. Men in the gym are so creepy and disgusting.

I can count on one hand the few times another woman has sat or stood next to me in a public area where there was plenty of empty space elsewhere. And usually it's much older women who I imagine feel safer sitting/standing next to another woman, due to men.

But it's happened at least thousands of times when men have either sat at the table right next to mine when there were plenty of free tables, stood right next to me when waiting for a bus or train when there's plenty of room elsewhere, sat right behind me on the bus when I've been literally the only passenger therefore every other seat is empty! And when I was younger and naive I would stay where I was and inevitably these creepy guys would talk at me. Hence why now I always move.

Men like this probably think that women have secret meetings to talk about our next plan to make men miserable and hurt their feelings by not wanting to be near them. When in actuality this is learned behaviour and a form of self-defence.

Just yesterday I actively did not look at a group of men standing right next to me in Mc'Donalds waiting line. Later when I was at home again, ran as if my life depends on it when I took out the trash because a car was slowly driving up right next to me. I shoved the trash in there as fast as I could and ran off.

Maybe they were just your regular posers with their fancy expensive car, but I felt odd around them.

(but as we all know, more often than not, what was happening was she was just plain going about her day not paying him any attention. if you notice all his examples were of women out in public, STRANGERS WHO DONT OWE HIM ANYTHING )

even if the instance was truly an honest mistake or misunderstanding, I notice these HVM kinds of guys are never angry or annoyed how they looked bad, they completely understand how a girl or woman could feel scared in that situation

Sometimes, when I'm in the gym, I intentionally invade the space men have, because backing off seems like an act of docility to me. I prefer to intimidate them, because they DO GET intimidated when you, as a woman, have the audacity.

In all other situations I tend to avoid interactions with men, so yes the "man sits near me and I deliberately go somewhere else" is a common occurrence in my experience.

Personally I try to give off a hostile/angry vibe so no one would even dare to look my way. Having a resting bitch face helps, tho not always... like I don't wanna be hit on but I also wanna continue doing my shit while not be disturbed. Who knew that its too much to ask.... ;(
