Why can’t you tell her your requirement before you knock her up?

That way, if she’s innocent, then you don’t risk springing that you never trusted her with your accusation that she’s a genuinely evil lying slut when she’s in the most vulnerable position of her life and had put a lot of trust in you. If you wait until she’s 9 months pregnant and spring this on her, you’re telling her directly that you never trusted her the way she trusted you.

I don’t know how a relationship can survive that kind of massive lack of trust and consideration. And think of it, all you had to do was ask her before you knocked her up to avoid this whole situation! And as another benefit, asking her before you fuck her means you can easily dump her if she’s offended and that hurts your feelings.

It’s a simple, honest solution to the whole thing… so why not avoid the offensive, last second, idiot version of this and just ask earlier so you actually have kids with someone compatible with you?

Sure, it’s not offensive for a man to ask for a DNA test in the abstract. Maybe the circumstances warrant his concern, like if they were in an open relationship or he had reason to think that she had cheated on him.

In a trusting, monogamous relationship, asking for a DNA test indicates a crack in that trust and it’s reasonable for a partner to be offended by that. Which is not necessarily a reason not to ask: you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. Expect fallout.

As always, my advice to men is that if you’re this worried about paternity of hypothetical future pregnancies, just be transparent about that up front and tell the women you get with that you have a fear of paternity fraud and would always want a DNA test for your own peace of mind. There’s no reason to wait and make it a huge thing at a fraught moment when you can have a nothingburger of a conversation at a time so far removed from any potential pregnancy that no one needs to get worked up about it.

I can see both sides. I understand men wanting to be sure, but if my partner suddenly said, "I believe that you may have cheated on me and that our child isn't mine," I would be hurt. I have seen men on here saying that women shouldn't be hurt by this, but that's quite a big ask. I can't imagine there are many men who would genuinely be absolutely fine with being accused of cheating.

Biological kids aren't in the cards for me, so this is all hypothetical, but although I would be hurt, I don't think I would end the relationship over it (unless my partner approached it in a very aggressive way). I also wouldn't just get the DNA test and pretend that it never happened. My partner needing proof that I didn't cheat would be a sign that there were cracks in our trust, which would need to be worked through.

You can't decide for other people whether they find something offensive or not. Requesting a DNA test does mean that you think partner might have not just cheated on you, but also done paternity fraud to you, and that could imply that you do think that she might be this level of stupid and cruel. it also can mean that you're just anxious though, but you can't decide for another person how they feel about it. It works both ways btw - women can't decide for men not to worry about it.

So I get both sides here, and I don't really mind DNA tests by default. I don't think we'll ever implement it - paternity fraud is rare, and it isn't something the state is really interested in dealing by testing each and every kid.

This is one of the few things where I think you should not talk to your partner just do it. In every reddit cheater story the one being cheated on is an insecure asshole for checking the phone unless they find evidence. Then they are lucky they found out. Just do the test and be quiet about it.

On the one hand, women are a subset of people (at least until the current US administration tries to claim otherwise), and people lie, therefore women lie. Therefore test.

On the other hand, accusing someone of a crime they didn’t do is Lesson 2 in pissing someone off 101, only proceeded by literally hitting them. It’s reasonable she be mad. You’re accusing her of cheating.

I would just do it quietly, and only discuss the results if it turns out to be true, at which point the indignation of the accusation and the test is dwarfed by the much greater sin of cheating and having a baby via said cheating.

Not only it's offensive, it's also so damn stupid to nuke your relationship like that when you really don't have to.

If you feel insecure, accept it as a you problem and solve it without attacking the mother of your child when she is in exceptionally vulnerable and emotional position. After giving birth mother needs a partner who can support her, baby and their relationship, not destroying everything.

You could easily get a peace for your mind by just taking a DNA samples and discreetly send them to test. There is absolutely no need to rub it in face of a woman just given birth unless you actually WANT to hurt her and violate your relationship. If test comes back positive then just keep your mouth shut about it and live happy family life and no harm has been done. If it would come back negative, then you do what you want with that information.

There is so simple solution to be sure without accusing your partner to cheater, why on earth you'd choose the way you know would cause harm and distrust between you no matter what the result of the test would be?

Well, there's a time and place for everything, lol. When you're in a serious, committed relationship with someone, preparing to marry (or cohabitate, if you're not the marrying types), you should discuss and come to an agreement on many issues prior to taking that next step forward. Are we merging our assets or keeping them separate? Do we want a prenup (or if not marrying, some other contractual agreement for division of said assets)? Are we planning on having children? If so, what kind of genetic testing do we want performed, and how do we want to handle any negative outcomes of that? Do either of us have anyone who might become a dependent in future? etc. etc. etc. This would be one of those items of discussion, and while I suppose there are some people out there who find that unromantic, I disagree. Agreeement on all this stuff in advance is how you *preserve* the romance for years to come, imo. Totally *not* offensive to do so.

However, asking at some future point, out of the blue, when no cause has ever been given for you to suspect said child might not be your child, especially depending on *how* you're asking (nasty, aggressive, obnoxious, etc.) can certainly edge into "offensive" territory.

Now, if you're *not* in a serious, committed relationship, then of course asking for a paternity test isn't ever offensive. Htf are you supposed to know if you're the father or not otherwise? *She* may not even know if you are or not, depending on what other relationships she may be having.

These posts about DNA tests really seem to miss the actual reality of how babies are made. If this is a casual relationship or one night stand then sure, have your doubts, take your test.

But if you're in a committed relationship or marriage how the hell is this meant to work - women are only fertile for a few days each month. If you know your wife, you're going to have a good idea of when those days are (and so is she). If you don't know, figure it out, it's not hard. Did you have sex during that time? Now do you know what your wife does each day? I think most decent husbands do. Is she sneaking in a neighbour in the middle of the night to impregnate her while you sleep? Is she banging the checkout guy in the grocery store bathrooms when she tells you she's gone to pick up milk? SPECIFICALLY DURING HER FERTILE WINDOW? Why the hell would you marry someone you suspect like this- this isn't about dna, you're choosing to live in paranoid fear of your partner and YES that is offensive.

Anyone would be offended if you question their fidelity out of the blue - be it a man or a woman. Even men would be hurt if their wife woke up one day and accused him of sleeping with other women during her pregnancy, with zero provocation. However, in my opinion, if there's a history of infidelity and/or marital disputes to ascertain child support or inheritance issues, then it's fair.

You can ask for it/get it done anyway, but the wife will also not be wrong if she chooses to leave him over such accusations.

The redpill data says 30%. This was taken from a DNA lab where men already suspected infidelity and wanted proof. To put it in perspective, it’s like going to an oncology hospital and then concluding all people in hospital have cancer. It’s skewed data. And it keeps on being pushed.

The real number is between 1 and 3%. And that includes actual hospital mixups where the mother wasn’t the mother either. So, why do you think the redpill lies about this? I think the answer is obvious. And there is a lot of other data they purposely skew. All of the real data is out there.

It very obviously is offensive. I share your fear; you only get one life, and if you find out that the kid you thought was yours, that you sunk decades into raising, actually isn't yours.... Well, I can't think of much that could be worse than that...

However, asking for a DNA test is saying. You're telling me you didn't cheat, but I don't trust you and need it officially verified. To a faithful partner, that is obviously hurtful, and you're just being obtuse if you claim not to understand that.

This is why I think it would be a good thing to always DNA test kids by default. You can avoid horrific circumstances like a guy having to pay child support for years simply because he was the assumed father at birth (which is arguably still not as bad as spending two decades raising a kid without knowing they're not yours)

Back in the eighties ..... there were a few rare instances where babies got mixed up immediately post birth, resulting in a few mothers taking home and raising someone else's child for years until discovered.

The result was absolute national outrage!
Front page news stories daily, TV news coverage nightly, and demands were made upon politicians to enact safeguards to absolutely ensure such a horrific travesty NEVER repeats.
Within mere months, legislation was enacted, requiring every hospital to adopt protocols absolutely, ensuring such horrors are never repeated again ...... And these protocols dictated through legislation are firmly in place to this very day, resulting in a certainty that any mother giving birth in a hospital can never worry about raising someone elses child again.

Flash forward 4 decades and magically (as long as it's men raising kids under false pretenses that are not theirs) ..... suddenly, it's offensive to even inquire???

DNA testing is cheap, non evasive and accurate ....... There's only one reason anyone should be against mandatory dna testing to be done at childbirth to ensure parentage....... And thats the privilege to knowingly deceive father's of their right to know who their children are.

The only difference between hospitals screwing up the identity of babies and fathers being conned into supporting children, not theirs, is this ........ The hospitals simply screwed up and made mistakes ....... These mothers are knowingly deceiving and scamming men ....... So which one has legislation outlawing it? ..... The mistakes are one, of course!! It's perfectly legal to scam and con as long as the person being scammed and conned are men!

No need to tell the mother. You only need to take saliva with a small Q-tip and yourself and send it for DNA testing. Me personally did it when she went to the bathroom. It can be in any situation. Tell her to get you a glass of water and you can do it.

Asking for dna test is like asking to see your partners texts.

Partner can get angry on both cases even if they have nothing to hide, because it feels like youre getting accused.

Its better if the state mandates the test for hospital upon birth, so no one gets offended.

Otherwise, just marry a chaste woman with low body count, who actually is loyal to you and wouldnt dream of cheating. Which is what many men want to do anyways.

If he can tell me a reason why I lost his trust, I will do the test, apologize profusely and work out with him ways that I can earn his trust back. I would feel terrible putting him through that intentionally.

The worst part is, people will care IF you don’t trust her, but if you DO trust her, and you find out the kid isn’t yours later, people won’t care. They’ll tell you that DNA shouldn’t or doesn’t matter. That if you were a “real man,” you’d carry on and just keep raising the kid and smile at your cheating lying wife. It’s utter BS, but the unfortunate answer is to simply get the kid tested quietly. There will never be mandatory paternity testing… the societal impact, implications and “problems” that would arise would be detrimental to everyone BUT the men who’ve been cuckolded, and no one gives a s—t about them.

Big issue I haven't seen brought up is getting a test takes time. Most states have you sign the birth certificate well before the timeline in which you could get a test done and courts have found in multiple cases that signing the birth certificate legally binds you to caring financially for the child (state HATES being on the hook for child care)

Best solution is they should be default practice. Hell, eventually as genetic screening gets better, could be a great tie in for preventative screening of the baby for genetic concerns as well. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

In my opinion, it’s reasonable for a partner to request things like this as long as it doesn’t cross any personal boundaries. Complete, blind trust is ideal, but the reality is that a bit of healthy doubt isn’t inherently toxic. Most of us want relationships built on total trust, but asking for reassurance in certain situations doesn’t automatically mean there’s a lack of it.

Ask if they’d suggest having a baby with a man that refuses to get legally married “because he shouldn’t need some document to prove his commitment to her.” But also you shouldn’t need some document to prove she’s been committed to you, that’s sexist ☹️

Mandatory DNA test at birth. There are absolutely no downsides to it except some extra tax burden (which is easily outweighed by the fact that it would protect Millions of Men every year).

Men can get one in secret but too many are naive enough to not ask one only to be blindsided years later. Many more won't even know ever and die without having the faintest idea.

DNA has never been purified.

Based on the previous point, the assumption that cells and nuclei content and molecular structure are alike across species and other living matter has no actual basis other than being a theoretical assumption based on the Cell theory. Cell theory has several assumptions and issues on its own.

Lately scientists are discovering that the molecular composition of DNA in one body part/tissue is not the same with another body part/tissue.

There is no evidence supporting the existence of base pairs other than the theoretical molecular structure of DNA.

So many things are based e.g. genes, chromosomes, proteins, RNA, etc.

Why not to use Signer’s DNA (still available at the college), Wilkins’ technique of DNA fiber isolation and the most powerful electron microscope, a microscope that can generate images of atoms? Just to reconfirm the so many assumptions made by Crick and Watson. Some will argue that DNA is too sensitive and the radiation of the electron microscopy can damage its delicate structure. But if this is the case why then is it assumed that:

that exposing NaDNA to the x-rays for days in order to obtain a diffraction pattern will not damage the NaDNA structure? the obtained picture is of a well preserved NaDNA i.e. of a non damaged NaDNA? Atoms are not sensitive but DNA consisting of atoms is?

I don’t question the existence of heredity, heredity is a fact, and we see it with our own eyes, in our parents, in us, in our children, generally in all creatures. If it is Medel’s principles of inheritance or/and Darwin’s natural selection mechanism, I’m not sure, those are also theories, theories containing unproven assumptions.

One of the most striking findings of mine is that control experiments are not performed, to consider or eliminate the effects of the chemicals and of the procedures.

I have a hard time understanding why scientists, biologists and chemists, believe that studying dead tissue treated with chemicals and applying mathematical models will lead to some kind of discovery. What exactly makes them believe that they are dealing with a novel substance and not with tissue debris derived from reaction between dead tissue, chemicals used and procedures applied?

Harold Hillman, neurobiology scientist, who used to challenge the mainstream science on the procedure employed to extract and study matter, once said in one of his interviews: “I think it is absolutely essential that people should understand the methods by which the things they believe were discovered, because a lot of people seems somehow to think what they believe in, is independent on how it was found out… people actually don’t know, if you stop [i.e. ask] the average person, an average biologists, how do you know that the DNA is in nuclei, the majority of them would say, we know about, would say, by subcellular fractionation, and you say have you ever considered what happens in subcellular fractionation, they haven’t”. Basically, what he tries to point out is that scientists believe that what they find is independent from the method employed to find it, they do not examine the effects the chemicals and the procedures have on the matter of study.

What molecular biologists and biochemists call isolation is actually identification and documentation of the byproducts generated after application of chemicals and some kind form of heat on biological matter. They compare the generated byproducts to byproducts of previously “isolated” matter and if the identified and documented byproducts, their quantity and composition do not match to anything already documented then they will call it a novel substance. This applies not only to DNA but also to different types of Protein, Vitamins, RNA etc.
