Anyone who thinks women don't already sexualize men and boys just can't have been around many women. I couldn't even tell you how many lewd comments I've heard from drunken women over the years. There are plenty of women who have very little respect for male boundaries and think nothing of grabbing and groping men they find hot.

We do sexualise men, just not average men. And when we do sexualise average men, it's done in a very give the slow kid a chocolate medal so he doesn't feel left out kind of way, and ends up feeling very patronizing.

We as a society are pretty clean on what is and isn't attractive, and people tend to know when they're not attractive. So telling them that they are comes off as patronizing.

I don't know what the solution is, but I do know that it's not getting another obese, balding, 5'7 man to dance around in his underwear for some campaign made to tell everyone that they're beautiful when you know that no person is viewing him the same way as the 6'4, 7%bf jacked model also in the campaign.

It would likely be incredibly positive for these neglected men to feel sexually valued and desired. But the issue is that they're not valued and desired.

While men are already sexualised, as someone Bisexual I fully support men being sexualised more in media, instead of the annoying recent trend of female characters purposely being designed uglier or in more modest clothing.

Let’s design more male characters and have more male actors willing to be fanservice as long as it fits the story (just like female fanservice characters should) and especially make it an option more in RPGs.

The Saints Row series has often been the best at male and female outfits being equal and being able to adjust the body type for any sex to have any body type for an example of what would personally be ideal to me.

While women may not feel spontaneous sexual desire for random men in real-life and media as often, those who do should have more options of fanservice male characters in media and the Dragon Age series being equally male-female and the fanfiction websites pre-dominantly female shows that there is an unmet demand for it.

One massive reason why men feel unwanted is because of the idea that a woman becomes tainted, and worse off, every time she has sex with a man. Even solely in the name of self interest, slut-shaming is one of the dumbest things you can do if you want men to be more desired.

So I really wonder what your thoughts are on the notion that women who have sex with men are gross. If I got more sexually charged compliments from attractive female peers growing up it would have done a lot for my confidence. It also might have turned me into an arrogant prick. I think if I had some role models, peers or otherwise, to keep my ego in check it could have been very good for me.

The few genuine compliments I've gotten from women I'll remember forever. Even the ones I wasn't attracted to, when they showed interest in me, called me cute, it helped my confidence and I never had a lot of that growing up.

It's not that men would experience the same level of sexual harassment or violence if women suddenly started sexualizing them more. It's also not something you can fake - and most women just aren't into sexualizing people around them to the same degree that men are. Seeing a pretty man doesn't really do anything for me if there's no connection. If there's connection, it isn't exactly sexual objectification anymore though. A lot of women are also in monogamous relationships, and I'm pretty sure their partners wouldn't appreciate them sexualizing other guys.

I think this confuses the male gaze with the female gaze.

I predict women here will generally say that doing to men the female equipment of how men specialise women generally won't do it for them.

Men and women are different. Yes, physical looks play a part, and yes, many women prefer men who are conventionally physically attractive, but there's a difference between physical attractiveness and attraction.

Physical attractiveness is an advantage and improves attractiveness, but there are other factors. And if someone doesn't meet those, women likely won't stick around.

In my experience, when women talk about sexualizing men, it's usually in a retaliatory, often joking response to women being sexualized by men.

Or at least, that's my best objective assessment. I would be interested in any disagreements.

Especially since I recently realized, now in my thirties, I’ve been sexualized by women since I was 12.

This is something that’s talked about with young girls but isn’t brought up enough about young boys.

Sexuality dynamic for men and women is totally different.

Our lives are different, we see each other in different ways. Sexuality fulfills different things in each other.

Women see Men in a way some men will never understand. And the opposite might not be true. A man likes respect and attention too. Women like to feel certain feelings around a man. A man doesn't need that. A man rarely thinks about the story or scenario, the ones that are at least aware of moods are very successful.

But I also put in a lot of work and for a lot of that work, it wasn’t just physical, it was also personality. As a bisexual man who also believes we should sexualise men more, the problem imo is not really that it hasn’t occurred to people to sexualise men. The problem is that people don’t understand how to do so.

People think having a man shirtless is automatically what sexualises them, but they’re not women. The same rules don’t apply for the obvious reason that sexual characteristics are different.

And clothing brands don’t play into sexualisation for men like they do with women. I mean, just look at how ass sexual clothing is for men. Closest thing they have to lingerie is like, jockstraps, which I don’t think men even wear for women really.

Pecs can be sexualised but just ripping the shirt open isn’t sufficient. It needs to be accented or drawn attention to, as well as other characteristics. Arms, backside, hips, legs calves, thighs and the v-line ,which is more prominent in men, should be accented. Can’t do that with baggy jeans and a shirt, even if it looks cool.

But then the other obstacle is just people. Guys won’t wear anything that accents their body like that because they’ll just get called gay. By men and women alike.

For that reason this is not a quick fix and takes decades or even centuries of change

Eh. I don't sexualize "men," (the general category) in the way that men sexualize women, because I think reducing the entire opposite sex to their sexual appeal is dehumanizing - it doesn't matter if "men actually WANT to be sexualized," I would feel morally icky to constantly be sexually assessing men, like I would feel like a creep, and I don't want to do that for the sake of my own integrity.

However: I sexualize the absolute hell out of my husband. I'm a stay-at-home wife, and that's only possible because of his dedicated, steadfast work to support us (I don't currently work, and have zero pressure from him as to when/whether I get a job) - he's the provider, and I want him to feel as appreciated as possible, because I really do have endless gratitude and admiration for him. Of course sex isn't the only way I show my affection and loyalty, our relationship is super full and rich, but I definitely do take pride in making sure he's physically satisfied.

I mean they are, but you don’t sexualise men in the same way you sexualise women, for women it’s about showing beauty in the body shape, face, showing a little skin in certain places.

For men it’s about showing power and masculinity in those things, a certain confidence even, like hell in video games and movies hos many muscle bound men with no shirt or just clothes thst look like they’re going to burst off. Look at the superhero physique the bodies on display the actors, there is sexualisation, it’s just we’ve been conditioned to look at how women are sexualised and not men so we don’t see it, or in the case of most men they’re straight and therefore don’t see it.

Counterpoint: men need to start sexualising themselves in a way that attracts women. I don’t understand how you guys see the success of male kpop idols and those alike who wear slutty croptops and tight shirts, and don’t immediately get into the revealing fashion community. You must experience peak sexualisation PLEASE, put in the effort
