In the West it's easier nowadays to be a woman socially speaking. In fact I'd say in most developed countries it's easier to be a woman socially speaking. As a woman I think both women and men have to deal with sexism, but for different reasons, and it sucks to be on the receiving end of both.

However, physically speaking I still think we deal with more crap than men (we're physically weaker, we have periods that can sometimes be debilitating for some women, we deal with pregnancy/childbirth and its numerous consequences on our bodies, our problems are often ignored or downplayed by medical professionals, etc).

In a society where women aren't as heavily protected by social and judicial structures, though, they probably have it worse.

In the Western world, it's just a matter of personal preference. If you'd like to be successful and do something big with your life, it's easier as a man, but if you want to do the least effort needed to survive then it's easier as a woman. Casual sex is also much easier as a woman, so if that's something you prioritize, then being a woman might be better. If you just want a normal life though and aren't a horndog, being a man is definitely easier, odds are you'll be stronger, faster, bigger, more well respected, and there's the big bonus or no periods.

I don't think you can make this judgement based on gender to be honest. For example a woman in a low income job struggling to survive has it harder than a man in a good job that is living comfortably based on income. I actually think this who has it worse men or women is part of the problem. There are so many nuances in life that make things harder for others.

There’s honestly no contest now. It’s shitty to be a working class person right now period. And there’s pros and cons to everything. There are moments I wish I was a man and there are moments I’m glad I’m a woman.

I am thankful I am a woman when I get pulled over by a cop. I haven’t gotten away from a ticket but a lot of my girlfriends have. And politics aside statistically, men die more at their hands.

I wish I was a man at the Dr’s office so I can be taken seriously. Statistically women’s symptoms are dismissed more often. I see how my husband has been treated differently and so does he. I have to bring him to my appointments sometimes so he can say “yes she does I see it” (I have already switched four times!) This could be deadly. Especially in times of pregnancy. Pregnancy is still very risky even when things go right and you have attentive doctors.

There’s a lot more scenarios and this shit it already an essay. The polarization of our western countries is so striking and apparent right now.

It’s been generations upon generations of women being second class citizens. My great grandmother, grandma lived through it and so did my mom. The women that did have more “rights” were rich or it was a special circumstance. Being wealthy always affords special treatment.

Genz and alpha have a small snippet of the picture and were born amidst a cultural change. It was only recent that our culture started to shift to embrace new ideals and going the right way to egalitarian practices. There’s going to be overcompensation in some areas either way, it’s just how the evolution of society goes. Everyone should be treated equally as a human being with the same dignity.

Depends on which part of the world. In the West life is shit for both men and women right now unless you're middle class or higher. I'd say things are marginally easier for women but they have a fair share of struggles.

In other parts of the world, particularly Islamic societies, there's no denying women have it much harder, though again life isn't perfect for men unless rich.

For just general living, being a man is much better. We are adapted to survive, women are adapted to be dependent. I can work and live in a tent and find joy in every sunrise. Women can not live like that. Women can't walk safely in much of the world.

For just general living, I think men have have a basic edge over women in that we can be independent. Most women have to rely heavily on social networks to survive.

Individuals of both genders project onto each other the very thing their perceive as lacking. Lonely, depressed men project onto women believing it's easy for a woman to find a great guy who she loves and loves her as of loneliness and depression are gendered conditions.

And shy and non assertive women will project onto men that they have a much easier time in the business world and are taken more seriously, as if shyness and lack of assertion are a gendered problem.

It may maybe a different story in the anglosphere, but around the world, it is not easy at all to be a woman. In my country some children are forced to marry older men, domestic violence is not rare, and on average every day at least one woman is a victim of gender homicide unfortunately. Overall no woman feels safe in developing or underdeveloped countries.

men have different problems. But loneliness or having a hard time finding hook-ups are nothing to compare with survival issues.

But in the end, everyone owns their unique experiences and issues. I think it's more than gender, life is much more complicated. Social class is more of a determinant of wheter your life is gonna be easy or not.

If you are from lower classes of society and trying to climb the ladder - it is harder for men, boys are harder to socialize and more likely to be addicted to substance/video games etc. so they require more effort from parents side. Girls have some biological advantages here. However if you are from upper-middle class and your parents put enough effort into your upbringing and helped you to start, i think it might be a bit easier to be a man.

How hard your experience of life is has more to do with your subjective perception and valuation than with anything objectively measurable. You can suffer greatly for not being genetically blessed to match what is considered peak female beauty, and put a lot of weight into you physical flaws, or you can not care at all about that. You can obsess about your smaller than average penis size and make everyhting about that, being deeply unhappy about the unfairness of life as a man, or you can realize women don't care much about penis size and especially, that there are more than enough women who obsess about penises getting hard, no matter what start and finish size is.

If you tell people that they should be unhappy, enraged, that they are oppressed or unfairly treated by the other sex or the system or whatever out-group, they will be unhappy and perceive being "their group" to be extraordinarilly hard. The men I work with make more, have less education and basically do my same job just working with men instead of women. A man I work with is best friends with the CEO and arrives hours late to work and still gets paid, he even can get into fist fights at work and still keeps his job. In order to get those privileges I’d have to sleep with the CEO.. I have even seen situations of men abusing women and bragging about it and it being swept under the rug by other men so that man would keep his job while the dudes wife sits there with bruises on her face and I am the only one to contact the commander to tell him that experience and then his friends and my boyfriend attempted to shame me for not minding my business and called me a shitty person. In terms of reproduction, men have a harder time convincing someone to pass on their genes. But the finish line for them is the starting line for women. Within the context of child bearing and rearing (and elder care) women inherently have it harder.

Because men do not allow themselves to be vulnerable. So if they feel vulnerable, they might kill themself. They cant cope in a healthy way with unfortunate circumstances. Men feel they are "not enough." Women just get upset about it for a while then move on. They dont typically internalize it to affect their self worth. We are taught self love and to forgive our mistakes. I think either gender can have it harder or easier depending on the person and what kind of standards they put on themselves. The more self love, the easier your life will be and the kinder you will be able to be to others. (Kind, not self sacrificing). Perfectionists and type As never have it easy regardless of gender.

Women, simply because as a collective will always be taken care.

It's not to say that women are living life in God mode in Minecraft, nor am I ignoring the historical oppression and issues they've faced especially when you further into the past. But one thing that has always been consistent throughout most of human civilization is how protective we are towards women, regardless of how in the distant past we treated them like property, second-class, or the "lesser sex." The safety and lives of women and children were always above men even before they were granted rights.

Also as a woman, you can weaponize incompetence to have men do anything for you, from sweet-talking a boy to do homework for you as a kid to blatantly asking a man to give you money to do your hair and nails. Ffs I've hung out with women who have men sending them cash app or Zelle for money or rent, and these women are well off. For most women, self-improvement and glowing-up are solely based on attractiveness. You can be the most socially crippled clumsy autist, obsessed with Hello Kitty and video games and if you're somewhat attractive men wouldn't care. Singlehood for most women is so voluntary that dating is almost like a game or social experiment that's fun to indulge in sometimes, I'm just saying what the women in my life told me and what I've overheard them talk about.

As a man, if you didn't come with wealth, influence, and good looks then you'll have to work hard and the results might not even be fruitful. As a man who's none of those things, I have to make most of the proposition where I cannot afford to be incompetent, slightly off-kilter mood, uncomfortable, or make complaints, never mind vulnerability. I have to be useful in shape and form or else I'm pushed away. For us, self-improvement isn't just "glowing up", I need to have a steady career, good social skills, friends, knowledge on various of subjects, mindful of voice pitches, and able to make the right moves almost every single time. I can never question or test the loyalty and trust of a woman, in the same way they do to me. When I ask a woman out on a date, her intentions could be because she is bored or wants free food (Yes, it has happened to me before) and I can never question or even complain about it.

Finally, the most depressing and eye-opening thing I've heard and read about FtM Transmen is how cold, aloof, and apprehensive everyone is towards them after they transition compared to when they are presented as women. I had a friend who's 5'4 medically transitioned FtM, he became extremely depressed and home-bodied because of the sudden shift of how he's getting treated as a passing transman who's way shorter than the average man. I once shrugged my shoulders in sympathy and told him that he's going to be hearing a lot of "it is what it is" when it comes to this subject.

Ugh I hate the suicide contest, but women do attempt it more and have higher rates of depression overall. Men are just more likely to use guns which have a much higher “success” rate than any other method. But like I say, I hate trying to make it a “who is more miserable” contest since there are clearly tons of men and women who are miserable.

Life ain’t easy for anyone. That’s the truth of it. Doing hard things builds resiliency. Life being too easy these days (desk jobs, ordering door dashing instead of interacting with the real world, etc) is making people less resilient. If this is the reason for the suicide rates, this would suggest men have it easier. But obviously there are more reasons as suicide is far too complicated for randos on Reddit to come up with all the reasons behind. I’d guess it is a combination of life being too easy and other contributing factors.

I don’t want children, but I would much prefer a daughter to a son. I think it would be much easier for myself/partner and for her to go through life.

Both of my friends have daughters and I fully anticipate that, as long as nothing goes traumatically wrong, it will be much easier for them to raise their kids than if they had sons.

The system, public education specifically, is just a smoother ride for females than males. That advantage in school makes everything that comes after easier.

On top of the successful suicides to check out of an obviously unbearable life..compared to women’s only attempted suicides to likely seek attention and help (we all know nobody cares to help men). There are way more trans women than trans men.

Which is man to woman transition than woman to man transition. Might speak 🗣️ volumes as to why someone would want to leave a tougher existence for the favor of a simpler existence. To touch on that point there is also the infamous Norah Vincent case that ultimately ended in tragedy via her own suicide after experiencing life as a man firsthand and her treatment from society and women.

If life were illustrated as a video game men’s difficulty screen is always the same default mode setting which is like Veteran Mode hard. Periods must suck. Chronic neuroticism. Fears and phobias. Weak arms and those damn pesky jar lids. Weak legs and those damn boobs that you can't even normally run with. The easiest and cheapest way to have your own biological child - is to literally risk the very integrity of your pelvis. And the worst part, even if she finds a person ready and willing to alleviate the downsides of her life to the very best of his ability... her capacity to even appreciate it is questionable.

I think both men and women born into upper middle class to wealthy both have it equally good and could face some minor challenges based on gender but for the most part in the west they are equal.

I think lower class males probably have it the hardest with the most difficulty in upward mobility, dead end jobs, poor diet, least mate desirability, and a school system that is not designed to help boys and men.

Lower class women, especially single mothers also have it hard very hard compared to group one.

Being male has a lot of extremes, the highs are higher. President, CEO etc. BUT the lows are lower homelessness and suicide. You're much more likely to end up as the later two than the former. Any male privelege comes with signifigant male responsibility.

The average between men and women aren't too far apart though

It would be great to be able to get a strength based job. I already build muscle without even trying, now I imagine if I was a guy with that kind of natural build. As a woman all it does is make people think you’re masculine. So yeah, having a guy’s strength would be a game changer.

Each has its easier sides and harder sides.

But I think being a woman is easier. Only cause your feelings and your problems get taken much more seriously.

The man up. Don't be a wuss. All that stuff makes for many men feel like no one cares about them no one sees them. If thet don't bring in value.

So it seems like not just women's feelings are more important but also women's time over a mens.

So for men if everything is good and going really well your on cloud 9. You feel unstoppable.

But when it does not. You dont matter. Your feelings dont matter. Your pain or issues don't matter. Your trauma doesn't matter. Its always men up stop being such a baby.

While woman are a lot more protected both under the laws. But also have there feelings matter. And more taken in. And taken seriously with many issues they having.

Both has there isues for sure. And never will say its much better or easier. But cause men get treated with such contempt.

Of very extreme feminism attacking men things true the years. It build the more extrame Andrew tates type followers.

Men hateing was jn style. And cause men did not felt they where taken serieus with there isues. There was a quickly growing group of men that just flat out dont care of women issues anymore. It was like why would i care about your issues if our isues get attacked and mocked.

If both show a lot more understanding and willingness to listen and accept the isues people are having. And make it more fair for both sex. Im pretty sure both extrame views on each side will lessen.

In gender wars you just have 2 sides losing

Cause if you treat 1 side badly. You think you dont pay for that in some way. You do. Why you think men stand up for women less. Being gentleman's less. Break up fights less.

Its easy to have your hand up and demanding value of one side always. But if you dont give them what they want or respect or care they need. Why would they give you anything?

That's our society atm. What have you done for me lately attitude and mindset. No duty or responsibility and care for other people.

But in many ways people seen as a creep by default. Not by his intention was bad or nice.

Same with dating biggest amount of women want to have men being gentleman and pay for the dates. What is fine. If they are ladies them self.

But only asking for value and traditional gender roles and being completely free from them them selfs. Yea there is no value so people only be traditional when both sides are traditional.

Both need to see they have to give to get. Both respect. value. And kindness. Always. If you can't do that you're not worthy of reserving it yourself.

That people wanna invest time in you willing to hear your story. Willing to help you with your struggles.

But you have to give each other the same respect.

So treat others you wish to be treated. But understand that they don't fully value the same things you do. And knowing what someone values is the most important thing to get the best deal and most your needs met. And you know what people and the other gender wants. By listening. And trying to understand them. Respecting and getting that no matter how much you shame someone that won't change just like if your preferences get shamed you won't be like hmm ow il change it right now. Yea, not happening. Same on the other side. So value is measured in what the other side wants.

If you're not in the west? Men easily. If you're in the west, then it's a bjt more complicated. Men probably have a higher cap of success (most will never reach), and women tend to have way more safety nets. Other than abortion rights being up in the air, we are doing the dance of "women are independent humans who deserve to be seen on the level of men, but they are also weak and need to be protected." And it kinda gives them the best of both worlds.

Although nothing is better than being a hot, rich man in any context.

Neither is objectively harder or easier than the other. I personally find it would be harder to be a man because I am a woman and have lived my whole life as one and learned how to cope with hardships women face and got sort of used to them. I don't know what I would do in a man's shoes with a lot of problems men face. I don't think they're necessarily harder or easier problems, just different, but they're problems that would be way harder for me personally because I don't have the skillset to deal with them.
