Empathy, or lack of it. This guy can't grasp why the birth of their son is a private moment, the sadness at not having a deceased parent present for such a big life event, or the embarrassment at having one's emotional distress played for a laugh with friends. But he's upset that he was embarrassed in front of his friends.
Calling mother to vent. It's emotionally immature to have your parents mediate disputes in your marriage. I can understand a 5-year-old tattling to mommy, but as an adult that's not a good look.
Mother-in-law actually(!) calls her to plead her son's case. In the words of Princess Diana, "there were three of us in this marriage...so it was a bit crowded."
