Working out is a much more rigid discipline than wearing makeup.

Not only do you pay for membership but you really have to be committed to your warm ups, workout routines, and dieting to make sure it's effective.

I worked out yesterday after work, lifting, going on the treadmill, swimming laps in a pool, doing cardio, stretching, pedaling, doing pushups, etc.

You can't just discount men working out in the gym. That's a very strong discipline and requires effort just like makeup.

The framing here is all wrong. Women aren't "expected" to wear makeup. They have the privilege of being allowed to wear makeup. Women have a tool at their disposal that they can use to compensate for their shortcomings, but men do not. It's just not socially acceptable for them. Instead, men are stuck with what we are born with, and can't do anything to change it past a certain point. If I could use makeup without that counting against my masculinity in the eyes of women, I absolutely would.

The "Chad" example you gave is null, because what do you think his girlfriend would think when she found out he wears makeup? Of course other men don't care, but women, particularly women you're dating, will be bothered by it.

I cannot speak to plastic surgery but it has been discovered that women primarily wear makeup because they a) enjoy the ritual/feel of it and b) for self-expression. Not primarily for men. Lesbians get boob implants and butt implants too so I doubt that is for men but I don't have any data for that type of plastic surgery. Also yes, many women wear make up in their homes all by themselves. During the first two years of this pandemic I would sometimes go a week without a video conference for work and still put make up on most days. Why? It's fun, I like to play with looks, it's like the equivalent of the fun of coloring books as a kid. Honestly, if there was a zombie apocalypse once I had secured necessities and a safe location I would still play with makeup. It's just one artform.

Women need to "feel pretty"—whether or not there are any men around. I would say "feeling pretty" is most women's primary concern from ages 14 - 25. Perhaps men can't imagine how important that is to the female psyche, and how little it has to do with men, at least on a conscious level.

Men on the other hand? Men like me work out 6 days a week to keep to a healthy BMI and lower our body fat percentage, take up a variety of hobbies to make ourselves interesting and to meet new women. Most of the “self-improvement” advice “invest in yourself” is hot garbage and will not help men turn white or grow a couple of inches to become attractive. That OkCupid study showed women rated 80% of men as below-average or unattractive. That study was done back in the mid-2010s, and I can only imagine women find most men uglier than they did back then.

Women can pretty much hide most of their flaws using makeup because most men will still find them attractive, regardless of height and if they women manage to stay under the slightly-obese range. Men don’t have such luxury, with women only preferring to date men above 6’0 tall, white, muscular, filthy rich enough to give those women the Instagram-influencer lifestyle to make her female peers jealous.

Women are able to rule out male attraction based on arbitrary factors such as height, race and ethnicity. If men were able to openly reject female survivors of abuse or sexual assault (because they come with tons of irreconcilable baggage and it’s something arbitrary), they’d be able to render 90% of women unattractive.

Women overall "enhance" their physical appearence just to boost their ego even further based on the validation they already get AS BY DEFAULT.

Stuff like getting blonde or specific tight clothes are not a thing that are limiting you to not get male validation and attention at all.

In the other hand, getting a sixpack or broad shoulders is just one one the very few steps for a male to ever get female attention, at all. Either I know it, coming from overweight and how hard building muscles for a male is, but also because other external factors that are outside of my control like:
There is no male makeup for face that will make you universally attractive for females, which leads to my question: how do you ask males to "care about their appearence" more than women, if there's no way to fix your face that is pretty much genetically gifted (or not) ?
There're no surgeries for increase sex appeal in masculine physique. Like almost none, besides maybe reducing your nose size. But do you expect to have a height-job surgery ? Penis-job ? Abdomen-arms job to increase the length and broadness for male bones so then you can increase your muscular potential ? All of that is no, of course.

There're no shoes that give you height and make you universally attractive women, in contrast to female heels which make a girl universally attractive to show off their calves and feet. A dude is ashamed if trying to reach out a bit more centimeters of height. Like, no girl cares about a dude using elevator shoes.

So then, how do you expect an average male to "care more about their physical appearence" if there's very little to do with masculine body, besides getting muscles ?

I mean, you don't wanna go into that rabbit hole, because by that logic, women can't complain when men use them for sex, because women want experienced men who are confident in bed and men have to get that experience and confidence from somewhere so that women will start liking them.

But other than that, I personally think that women are spending too much time on their looks, because at the end of the day, when you are old, you won't remember those times you spent in front of the mirror(unless you are a narcissist I guess lol), you'll remember the memories you made while traveling, meeting new people, experiencing different things and so on.

The women on here are like :"men only look at women wearing make up"

Men say :"no we are not really into make up (but some of us are)". But all in all, we prefer a naturally looking woman.

The attitude the women on here complain and hate about the men on here, meaning the fact that they do not acknowledge what women say they "mansplain", it is that attitude that I see on this thread from the same women. Womensplaining and refusing to acknowledge what the men on here say.

Ive never thought that make up has actually made a woman more than a tiny tiny bit prettier. And I can definitely tell when someone is wearing make up. It seems to do the most when it’s covering up splotchy skin, or cystic acne scars, but even then you can only put on so much before it’s overdone.

Doesn't quite work that way. Much of what women find attractive is out of a man's control. Height and hair are seldom an issue women deal with. A nice body can also makeup for a girl's face moreso than vice versa for a man.

Don't women say they wear makeup for themselves anyway?

If you need to spend a lot of time and money to be found atractive, are you really atractive or its just smoke and mirrors?

Lets be honest, take makeup, hair dye, push up bras, heels, figure acentuating clothes and surgeries away (among others) and even the most atractive women becomes average at best. Get rid of those and most of you will drop at least 3 points in a scale from 1 to 10.

If you dont believe me, google pictures from female celebrities with and without makeup.

If a man judges you like he would judge a new car. You have already lost.

If he looks at you like an asset that he would like in his portfolio. .. that is where you are in the sweet spot. And a smart man doesn't add an asset to it's portfolio just cause it looks good. He does research casue it is a long-term investment, not a 3 to 5 year lease that he needs to deduct.

I agree. Everyone needs to put in effort - men and women.

I disagree. Maybe it is the lower middle income suburbs, but I don't see many woman putting in much effort any more. Obesity, clothing more considered pajamas and house shoes and loud mouth at the local bar on Friday night.

I don't care if you are going to Applebee's for some extreme fajitas or going to Walmart for groceries - Everyone needs to step their fucking game up.

I somehow agree.

You see, I have a quite good natural bodyframe and I work out, but when I wear clothes that don't fit my body I go unnoticed.

So I always make sew my T-shirts at the arms and the hips and I tell you, it makes a huge difference.

It boggles my mind how clothes, even expensive clothes, can wore your appearance down if not chosed right. Just my body can make a fit, full black T-shirt of 20 bucks looks better than a stright suit of 400 dolars.

Alright, I'm going to say what this translates to me in my head based on previous conversations I have had in regards to this subject.

women wear makeup and get dressed up to look sexy for men (even though ladies swear it is for themselves and other women). Since women try SO hard to appeal to men, men should take the same approach and use artistic skill to hide their flaws and emphasize subtle facial composition. I acknowledge that this sometimes takes 4 HOURS to do, but I think it's reasonable to do this whenever I go out.

Here's a hot take: just stop doing all that shit and go out anyway. Literally nobody is forcing you to do that

Also, how do you have time to do 4 hours of prep before going out for presumably a few hours? I work 8 hours a day. When I get back, I shower and cook. By the time I finish eating, I have to go to sleep in an hour to wake back up in the morning for work. I have to go to the store and do meal prep on the weekends. 4 hours of prep to go get drunk and fucked is overkill and ridiculous
